I just did that route a couple of weeks ago along with Elephant Hill. I would agree that it is much steeper than the video shows. And much rougher. It was a beast! Good music with your video!
Dude!! Lol that road is nuts!! It looked steep as hell on camera. Which we all know doesn't do reality justice even a little bit! Glad you got up that safe! Great video bro!
Thanks buddy! I was honestly more white knuckle on this trail than Hole in the Rock. At least out there, somebody will be along to help within a few hours. Not this one.
Had a mishap at Gooseberry. Snow storm came in. Truck stuck... to walk out via the Bears Ears! and down to the highway. Took about 10 days.35 miles? Slept at Gooseberry, Kigalia and a logging trailer in between somewhere..... Snow wasn't deep but the road was muck. Sticks to your shoes even when I used plastic bags for water proofing. Which I wore when walking! (There is also a ranger station in Beef Basin but I shant say where it is. ) Sometimes you go a coyote too far but it's all fun. Took my Moto Morini 501 Camel V twin dual sport thru Booby's hole and Elephant hill many times. In 1992 I took my 6 year old son from Moki Dugway to Bears Ears to Elephant Hill and Needles to Monticello and back to Moki....Man that Hurt. In 1994 we did it to the Needles but he rode one of my motorcycles..(! he has talent).... Fell over in some deep sand in the Needles , yes he could just ride thru Bobby's on a "big Bike".....so then we Two Upped on the Moto Morini except he had to walk up some of elephant hill, you can't make the turns on a bike. The Moki to Needles to Moki trip was something like 400 miles, 300 dirt.. Other claims to fame include taking my Cagiva 500 up to Angel Arch in Salt Creek. c. 1988. And finding a road into Salt Creek from the Cathedral Butte area. A motorcycle road, anyhow....
That’s the best view of the road I’ve seen though. About 10 years ago a flood came through and it was impassible. Like, with anything. A tracked vehicle couldn’t have done it. 6’ ruts. Just amazing
(October 2020) the 2nd obstacle is dug out probably 2 feet more than what is shown here. A number of body damage had on two vehicles (locked + atrac) last week.
I think I might have found it , Ruxton. I went down that trail to where it dropped off the edge and it didn't look like it went anywhere. I switched over to my CalTopo map while I was sitting at the top, and it showed I was sitting at the end of the road, so I turned around and went up Bobby's. I'd already spent all that time working on it so I could get up! Lol. Now I've gotta go back and explore some more.
Wow, Caltopo maps of that area stink! I just converted my track log to a kml file and looked at it on Google Earth. I was plainly not at the end of that road! It goes over and hooks onto the road to Gypsum Canyon, and I went out that road right after I came up out of Bobby's. Impossible Hill (if doable by atv with broken winch) would've saved me several hours and a few miles!😯
@@utahwanderlust700 Gypsum Canyon to Impossible Hill makes a nice loop. San Juan County has some great maps as well as a kmz of all the roads. (Sometimes they show more routes than the BLM maps do.)

@@utahwanderlust700 the scary part of solo riding for sure! But you conquered it dude!! Sweet!

I love the photo of the stock XJ on 28 inch wheels on the sign explaining you need a high clearance vehicle.

I've been deep into Beef Basin in early February. Talk about "alone time". Certain death lurks....
I rode a ktm 1090 adventure bike up that......🤦♂️
If you can't make it up just go down Impossible Hill.
Where's that? I saw no other roads between Bobby's Hole and the locked gate going into the Park.
@@utahwanderlust700 Where your video starts there's a road on the right that goes down Impossible Hill to Imperial Valley.
