    When lightning strikes, different particles will scatter this light and cause the strike to appear as blue, pink, purple, white or even a brown-ish tint. … Elements in the air, such as nitrogen or oxygen, can cause the lightning flash to take on a different color like pink or blue.

  • @poojamishra3938
    @poojamishra3938 2 года назад +24

    The color of lightning depends on scattering of this white light. Anything floating in the air like dust particles, raindrops, water vapor, snowflakes, molecules of oxygen and nitrogen, etc can lead to scattering of light. When a bolt strikes, particles in the atmosphere around it will begin to scatter light and change the color of the flash.
    The excitation of the nitrogen and oxygen molecules in our atmosphere can produce violet/blue/purple color.
    Lightning could appear bright white if it is very close to the viewer, or if the air is free of pollutants and dust because there are fewer particles to get in the way of the display and distort the color.
    😊😊

    Red lightning within a cloud indicates the presence of rain. Yellow or orange lightning occurs when there is a large concentration of dust in the air. White lightning is a sign of low humidity or a little amount of moisture in the air. White is the color of lightning that most often ignites forest fires.

    Thanks Byju's for telling about lightening...
    When I was around 5 yrs , I used to think that whenever lightening is happening that means god has on the torch and when it stops god has off the torch and also that sound is produced because when God is switching on the torch he requires energy, that energy is that sound... 😅😅😅😂😂

    The lightining colour depend on to the amount of aur particles present on to that region. When the more amount of dust, O2 atoms, N2 atoms present they will give colour to the lighting like purple, violet , yellow and it is also depend on to the distance of observer. When the observer observe that lighting from nearly it will appear white because light rays enter eyers directly without colliding with air particles...
    Thanks byju's for this amazing Facts that improve our knowledge 👍

    Lightning forms different colours due to salts.
    • Copper chloride => Yellow flame
    • Calcium chloride => Red flame. And as Violet is a shade of Red so it is a Red flame.
    • Sodium chloride => Blue flame or Green flame. As lightening appears blue so it is Blue.
