I've noticed the same thing about the race predictions - either the 5k is spot on and the other distance paces are a little optimistic, or the 5k is a little slow and the other races are more accurate. Not sure if that's just because I mainly focus on 5k training or a problem with the algorithm. It's nice they have an option to do a fitness test though, in case the watch expectations ever get dramatically out of wack.
Yes exactly that. I think I’m strongest at 5k too so maybe you’re right the others are where we should be but aren’t yet. Very useful to reset them though in preparation for training…..
I had the same problem with trees making the pace sensitivity sluggish. I had to repeat the test as the first time failed to complete. I’m new and I’ll use whatever metrix advice I can get
The test is good to reset but yeh under tree cover it seemed to slow dramatically, in spite of the so-called algorithm which helps when under bridges etc. I’ve found it seems to simply transfer 5k fitness across all distances, which is why mine was gradually more and more optimistic as I went up.
