    Thank you for this video! If it´s not to specialized, I would love to see a workshop on Forge as well.

      You're welcome! It's on my list! I do think it's a bit specialized, but also really like DROID and the people behind it. Would love to see it get some attention, and a decent Forge tutorial would be valuable I'd say :)

    It would be a really entertaining video to setup a patch on one synth with traditional modules, then replicate the patch using the Der Mann Mit system.
    I'm curious if there is a point where the master/droid modules are more space efficient for smaller synths than traditional cv modules. I wonder how many utility/sequencer modules can really be replaced with it.

      Hey, that could be fun indeed! I think there is always use for good dedicated utilities like attenuation, mixing, VCAs, etc. But especially if you like exploring and experimenting with things like quantization, chords, deep related modulation, clock divisions, pattern en sequence generation etc etc, DROID can be a great way to experiment and use a lot of different functions :)

    This is excellent. It is exactly the type of thing I am looking for. Based on your previous Droid video I was wondering how Droid would handle this kind of complex sequencing. Thanks Monotrail.

    Wooah, never realised that the M4 is motorised. That's brilliant, excellent way to gain a lot more knob-per-function control. I'm considering selling my Varigate 8+, PPW, Running Order and Steppy to fund the live kit. First I need to fiddle in Forge, see if I can get anywhere. I'd love an integration in VCV Rack, so you could easily test your forge creations before loading them into a rack...

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  10 месяцев назад

      Hi there! Yes, the motorized faders are great! It's a very powerful setup to control lot's of parameters with a few controls. Varigate is nice, but the customizability is a winner for me. It's ,could be a bit more investment heavy. But also feels more like a modular approach to control & sequencing. You can start small, and expand over time. The big beaty for me is that once you have a setup, you can keep adjusting it to your wishes without buying more :)

    I already use a Monome Teletype, i2c2midi and sweet sixteen faderbank to create a similar flexible sequencing setup. If I didn't have that system already, I'd for sure use this!

      Nice, congrats on the modules! The minifonion circuit is fairly easy to use, for sure check the manual, it has a section explaining each of the circuits! I do have a Droid Forge tutorial on my list of options.

    Really enjoying your videos, thanks for doing these! I really like the performance focus you have, instead of just explaining functions you fold in how you use things live. Speaking of which, I wish you had more recent live shows. I'd love to hear what you do with the Droid in a full live set.

      Hi there, and thanks! Glad you like the videos! And me to :) Have to admit though making and pushing this channel has been my sole focus for the last 2 years, and had to put making music second. But now that some income from this starts to be stable I went full time recently! Super excited about that, and it also means I can start to make more time for actually making and playing music! Also really want to revive my old music channel as well. All the best!

    It looks very interesting but it seems like the workflow of changing things by inserting a new SD card might be challenging. I'd love to see a version with an OLED screen and USB-C port, instead of needing to use the X7.

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there! The x7 allows for patch changes over USB, but think they made a good choice gong for no screen. At then end having everything customizable is great, but I mostly end up making a patch in a few hours. Then use that patch for months. Maybe make a change or two in 10 minutes, or quickly update something. For me the idea is to create a module, feature or controller, then use it. Until I want something else. I wouldn't want to have a big oled screen in my precious modular space! Think there would be to many options to edit efficiently from a screen. And mostly it would be wasted space when using the setup! :)

      @@MonotrailTechTalk I don't really want to menu dive like PNW/PPW, I just don't like the aesthetic and think an OLED screen is more appropriate in this day, but it looks like a great and very powerful module and I'll definitely consider adding it to my setup, aesthetics or not. I just wish I didn't have to get an X7 for that workflow enhancement.

    at this point there's just no reason to have a modular when you can do it all so much cheaper with a PC and some midi controllers, pretty much all the modules are digital anyway, count the number of digital to analog conversions, on a pc it's 1.

      @@peteb4ker Even a fully analog system ( non existent these days) is mostly going to be heard through a digital reproduction anyway.
      Where a modular could really shine is in the greater dynamic range available, but to take advantage of that you need a PA that can take modular level signals instead of standard line levels but we don't see that happening. It's run through digital effects at line level before going to the PA losing the dynamic range it might have had.
      Yes there are plenty of other reasons people might want a modular, but they have little to do with what comes out of the speakers you are listening to, I doubt you could tell a hardware modular from VCV Rack in a blind test.
