@@IdkYoYono lmao. this fish was smoked, so it was already preserved. even if it was raw, that doesnt mean its going to make you sick, let alone kill you. this looks wild caught (low fat content), so pathogens are an even smaller concern. you can also opt for raw flash-frozen fish, which kills any parasites that might be present as well. cooking is only one tool in our very large toolbox for handling foodborne illnesses

The way it looks at the end actually has a similar color, texture and consistency to smoked salmon. I actually found myself forgetting for a moment that it was rotten, and thinking it looked kind of appetizing... 😳

I can confirm that as someone who has worked in a smokey and regularly had to go to the compactor, which had a whole month's worth of waste and fish gutts, that smell would have been diabolical! If we bottled it, we'll win the next war! It would be written about in textbooks for centuries!!

I'm beginning to believe our humble photographer is really @mrnigelng aka Uncle Roger. Why? After letting maggots feast on a piece of salmon...does he use a fork or a spoon or spatula? Nope. He uses a Jamie Oliver knife! Makes sense - his knife only good for poking maggot infested food! 🤣
