But you gotta understand and consider that it is about a live performance in a show and of long tour. Sooner or later you get tired along the tour. Above all he is not a young man anymore. And sometimes the voice is not thaat good in certain nights. Many possibilities.

Vocals are rough AF. No fault to Bruce. This is a really demanding and challenging song. I was pretty surprised to see this in the set for that reason.
He is still recovering from the chemo. I'd say he should be back to full strength within 6 months or so.... But he already sounds much better compared to 2016 ;)
Marco Zucconi agreed. But it can take well over a year for chemo to fully leave the body, and it clearly affects his voice. He sounds better and better, but his tone changed after his treatment, thats for sure.

I'll give him a pass 'cause it's the first show and the first time they are playing it live, but it was not a good performance. It's one of my favorites on the album along with Red & Black and Book of Souls, but I dreaded them playing it live because of how demanding it might be for Bruce. He messed up the lyrics big time and sounded out of tune....and the song's effectiveness is very dependent on him! They might try moving it higher up in the setlist as they did with The Talisman in the Final Frontier tour to see if Bruce can perform it better when fresher.
Imo The Book Of Souls doesn't have any filler on it. I experienced it live yesterday and I can tell you when you are standing there it is absolutely fantastic to experience. So glad they decided to play this song.

Problem wasn't the chemo, it was the radiotherapy. That can affect your voice forever.
