- Pure talent is difficult to come by, and people like River Phoenix are even rarer. He has inspired many people through both his words and his work. River had a beautiful caring soul that reached out to others. There was always something special about him. But even the kindest of souls can be damaged by the world of Hollywood. Despite where his story ended, River Phoenix is more than a fallen star. He is a light that still continues to shine and inspire with the peace he deserve all along.
I started this video way back in September of 2012, and was hesitant to finish. I'm glad that I did.

I personally relate to every word of this song and it is really hard to continue on. Having had the world in the palm of your hand, and being so truly capable to achieve and travel and do amazing things.... but then to find yourself on your knees with everything in pieces.... it's devastating. When you fight and fight but no matter what you do it always seems to end the same, with disaster, you end up believing - perhaps truthfully - that you're just a screw up. What other explanation is there? And you realise that perhaps you never really were as capable as you thought, but it was just an illusion. Perhaps you just got lucky there for a while and it was nothing to do with your talent or skill. Or maybe you really did have ability. But then something went wrong inside your brain. Whether it was caused from exhaustion, stress, alcohol consumption, smoking some marijuana, who knows? But you know you can feel that your brain is not functioning properly. You can't maintain thoughts with the same clarity, can't seem to think so 'fluidly' as you once did, repetitive thoughts become normal, anxiety overtakes any kind of genuine good feelings and it's like trying to find your way through a fog. Where you once could see so clearly, and were so enthusiastic and driven, you now find yourself stumbling through a darkened space, full of trepidation and fear. With enthusiasm replaced by anxiety and depression, it is impossible to thrive and achieve. You know people are looking at you, wondering why you can't just get it together. You look so normal, healthy. Why won't you just get off your butt and go out and do things in life? They consider you to simply be lazy or have no ambition or skills. They have no clue of the inner turmoil. They have no clue that every day you feel intense regret, remorse, devastation, depression, fear. They have no clue that you feel completely demoralised and are dreaming of killing yourself.
I'm glad you finished this! It's perfect. I love the "I wish I knew then what I know now" and the pictures near the end.
