I love my Tandem, it works really great, you don't have to worry about anything for the most part it makes life so much easier. My lungs burned when I had Covid, my sense of smell is not back to normal, and I have major floaters in my left eye. I feel fine now except for those problems.
Great video! I too was on the omnipod dash and had issues with it so i switched to the medtronic 630g pump and it was the best choice i made! I love it. My omnipod was threw the pharmacy so i was able to switch without waiting the 4 years. I had mine for less than 1 year.
Great unpacking video! I currently use the omnipod but not the new dash system as it is not available in Canada yet. How do you like the Control-IQ? Hopefully you feel better soon!
Wow. This is exciting. I hope this is going well for you. It's definitely smart to stay up to date on the newest technologies. However I'm still on the old-Omnipod but I'm keeping my eye on the next generation Omnipod which will do the hybrid closed loop. They supposed to have released it last year (2020) but they ran into problems with the software. As a computer programmer, this makes me nervous putting my life into the hands of buggy software. Maybe I will just stick with what has been working for me (A1c 5.6). But please keep us up to date on your experiences with the Tandem.
Yay, glad to hear you’re now on the Tandem. Based on m7y research, that is the pump I would pick also. If you are ok with the tubing and somewhat tech savvy, you shouldn’t have any problems. I’m on MDI still but read everything I can get my hands on about pumps and it sounds like control IQ will be a game changer because this is the first closed loop control system that automatically corrects for both high and low blood sugar. After watching that emotional video about your problems with the Omnipod, its good to see you are optimistic again. Stay positive as much as you can!
I found a vid you might like... called 10 oddest dental cases. It’s the RUclips channel “they will kill you “ I hope you find it entertaining. Keep making vids, you’re AWESOME
Hey! Did you post why you switched from Omnipod? I’m on a tandem now and not happy, so I went theory pharmacy to get the dash… which is coming this week. Now I’m wondering if I made a bad decision.
I did make a video on why I switched. I believe I made that video a while after this one. ☺️ And keep in mind the DASH may be a better pump for you. Unfortunately, it was not the pump for me.
Great question Habso! I will be explaining this in a separate video but control IQ which is what I use is like a hybrid closed loop pump system where the pump will either increase or decrease insulin based on your blood sugars trends using the dexcom g6. Basal IQ can only suspend your insulin if it believes you will end up low in a short period of time! I hope this makes sense! :)
@@MaddieNielsen No, that makes perfect sense, thanks for explaining! Are they 2 completely separate pumps or are they just different features on the same pump? I look forward to watching the video you make explaining more about it(:
@@MaddieNielsen Gotttt it(: I just received my t-slim and it said basal IQ and I was a bit worried because I thought they sent me the wrong one lol. But okayy, thanks again!
I went 22 years with just doing shots and then straight to using the Tandem Slim x2 since April 2020. I hate it, I don’t understand it. I wasn’t informed if I had to stop my night time insulin and only use the insulin pump just for my fast acting insulin 😬 It was so confusing and my blood sugars were through the roof 😭 I usually would take my night time insulin (23 units Lantus) and my day time insulin (1 unit per 10 carbs Novolog). So I couldn’t figure out how much insulin per min to set up on my pump uhhhh... So my A1c was a 6.1 before starting on my pump and my blood sugars were out of control while using it. Soooo I quit and went back to doing just my shots and using my Dexcom. I still have it and I would really like to learn more about it and how to configure the amount of insulin to adjust the pump to. If you do more videos on it could you please talk about all of this? Thanks 😊
Sorry to hear about your experience with the Tandem and some of the technical aspects are a bit confusing but I would try to regroup and try again after you become more comfortable with it. Pumps only use fast acting insulin and there are no long acting overnight “basal” insulin used at all. The pump continuously drips fast acting insulin to cover your basal needs plus it pumps in your boluses to cover your meals.
I would be glad to explain more how a pump works in comparison to injections but Robert nailed it right on the head-your Lantus equivalent is the amount of insulin you get in units per hour on a pump. For example getting half a unit per hour of rapid insulin novolog or humalog is the equivalent of taking 12 units of lantus at night. Hope this makes sense!
I hope your ok!! Will receive my Tandem tomorrow! Great video and hope you came back negative
I am doing well! Life has been busy! Thanks for commenting and watching this video! Best of luck with your tandem pump
yes periodt love the tandem
Amen! Me too!
I’m so happy for you !! I have been using the T slim x2 for about a year and a half and I love it !!! Good luck
Thank you so much! I absolutely love it so far! It’s an absolute game changer! :)

Wow! I am glad to hear I am not the only one having problems with Omnipod! I’m happy Medtronic is working for you! 😊
Great video, will be great to see your progress with Tandem.
I hoping to switch when my insurance resets in 2yrs.

Yes! I will definitely keep you up to date. I truly wish I would have gotten to experience the Eros pods with the old pdm
Perfect timing! I called my Tandem representative today. Please keep us posted on how you like it. Oh and I hope you feel better soon!
Thank you Jamie! Best of luck with getting set up with tandem 😊

Yeah! I hope you love it as much as I do. Can't wait for more videos on it. I love my blue pucks :)
I love it a lot! I think I’ll get some blue or pink ones next time! 😉 I love me some color!

I am anxiously awaiting you initial thoughts. You were part of my decision to not go with Omnipod. I have always been on multiple daily injections 💉
I am going to be releasing that video shortly! I love the tslim X2! Life changing for sure!

Where did you get your purple pump case from??
I got it from amazon. I just searched purple tslim x2 pump cases :)
What is the difference between a Basal IQ pump and a Control IQ pump?

By the way, 1 ml= 100 units.
Yep. Took me a minute to realize tandem uses syringe measurements in milliners not units like the Omnipod syringe! :)
