I have noticed you work on a good bit of cars, i was curious about el caminos, and the rare buick gnx's. Of course i understand why there arent any gnxs because of how hard they are to recieve, but i just came across this channel and honestly its a true lifesaver, thank you for being an overall gbody guy and not classified to just one type of gbody, helps everyone wiggle around the differences between the cars.
Thank you loads. I have a 87 Cutlass 2dr. I started it yesterday and rolled the window down, i had to pull it back up, my dad's idea is it needs lubricated, i thought it was in a bind. I was scared to break the panel and you just helped me a lot. Thank you. Now I'm gonna go find out what's up with her.

The power window switch normally is wired to the motor I would assume. Your switch must use WIFI or Bluetooth to connect with the motor. Technology!

So glad I ran across this video. I have a 78 el camino and I just got new lower door panels. This will definitely help me. I also subscribed as it looks like you have a lot of info on the g body cars. I see you have the 4 speed malibu as well. Mine is a 4 speed too.

Dude, You know what you need to do? Show how to install a new adjustable mirror panel retainer trim. I replaced my panel, but there was not a panel when I bought the car (1984 Grand National) Now I cant get the adjuster and trim in he lower panel

MrVigor47 Thanks. I don't have a video on removing a door but the trick is to support the door along the bottom with a floor jack and long piece of wood. then unbolt the door from the hinges and remove the door. Then change the hinges and reassemble. Two man job. Don't try it yourself.

It is absolutely cold out I actually started the project today ever placing all my door rubber and got my door panel off I can’t get the window quite down enough to reach two of the screws that’s holding the outside felt on any suggestions

There is a window stopper on the bottom of the inner door frame that you have to remove the single 10mm bolt. Then carefully drop the window down and you can then get to the screws to remove the trim felt.
Where would you go for replacement door panels? I need new ones. Does someone make a 1 piece panel? Thanks

Window crack clip removal tool. There is a clip that holds he crack on.

haha yeah I saw it was a while since you left that comment. Its easy to do. Pull the top and bottom pane off, remove the window stop at the bottom of the door frame to allow the window to come down further and you can get to the screws for the felt trim. Hope that helps for now.

hi Brian i recently purchased a 1981 cutlass pretty much a plain base model but it has a 5.7 diesel with 48,000 orig, miles garage kept for 25 years been outside under trees until june , no rust shockingly , do you have much experience working with the diesel's from this era ?

I have never worked on one. I would swap it for a gas as the early ones had head gasket issues. Probably a reason it was parked.

It could be anywhere based on the plant it was built and the person who places it. I have found them many places.

Hey Brian, have you ever had a car that both rods fell off the outside handles and couldn't get the doors open? I am up against this on my 79 Cutlass. At least I believe that is what is wrong since the doors won't open.
Yes it is possible or the latch itself has failed. You will have to remove the door panel with the door close and reach inside the door and open it that way.
BUT I have crank windows on mine?!? How in the heck do I get the crank itself off??

Its the same process just harder, not sure what else to tell you here.
Think my Monte is missing screws cause if the pull strap gets pulled, the panel want to come off.. ? Can I get replacement screws easy enough?

Could be the weather stripping on the top of the door and door panel or there are felt pads that wear or plastic rollers in the track. Need to check all that.
i got an 83 deville 2 door coupe. the driver window goes down about 3 inches then makes a gear grinding noise. any idea what that might be?

I have a 84 g body and I problem with my power lock and I don't have turn signal and brake lights and I have slow transmission leak in front and all my gauges don't work PLEASE HELP ME
Check the grounds to all of your harnesses and as far as the trans leak, wipe it all down and you can then see where it is leaking from. I also have a gauge rebuild video. Check my channel.
my 83 el camino has elec windows, little clips fall out, cant get the switch through the hole, no idea how to get those clips back in.
Clips hold the switch together.

Are those two felt pieces at the top all that i need to replace to fix a wobbling/rattiling window? or are there other things that i need to change out too. Mine rattle all the time except when the window is in the full up position.

Are you sure its the motors and not the cuplers? The plastic cuplers go bad and the seat stops moving. Go to gbodyparts.com

I have a question that would be greatly appreciated if you could answer. I have a 1979 monte carlo and it needs two panels. They are above the tail lights inbetween the trunk and lights. looks like 2 rectangle pieces that are missing. Any idea? it has the center piece and everything else.

It looks like this but with the center filled in. just the two rectangular panels missing. Idk what they are called.

Pull the door panel off and find out what fried. Sounds like the window switch went bad and good thing your car didn't burn. Fix it right away or it might burn.
