For a while I was wondering why Gary Barlow was interviewing David Millar... #Uncanny

Nicole Cooke, in 2008, was the first British cyclist to win the World Road Race Championship in the so called modern era (since Beryl Burton '60 & '67, Ton Simpson '65, Mandy Jones '82), she also won the Olympic Road Race in the same year. I mention these facts because Cooke was denied help from British Cycling - because she wasn't on any of their vaunted programs- and to compound matters British Cycling coaches actively tried to hinder Cooke by denying her resources which were made available to men, including as it happens David Miller.
To me that makes her achievements, including being the first British winner of the Tour de France (Grand Boucle -twice), first British winner of the Giro and still the only British winner of the Tour of Flanders and La Flèche Wallonne (three times), and World Cyclocross champion to boot, truly exceptional and on a par if not greater than either Cavendish or Froome.
Also British women have won FIVE UCI road race World championships in total (Beryl Burton x2, Mandy Jones, Nicole Cooke, Lizzie Deignan) and the men twice.

Amazing how sexist British Cycling is. As you allude to its like Nicole Cooke doesn't even exist or that her achievements are somehow inferior because she's a woman.

lol get outta here nobody gives a damn about women‘s cycling they would get torn apart by men so in comparison their achievments mean nothing
