Thank you for your advice
Very useful video for experienced IMGs with home country residency, especially from India.
Glad it was helpful!
You cannot practice cardiology. You will not be board certified in cardiology through this pathway. Only primary care. Insurance will only cover you as a primary care physician . The American board of cardiology would rarely accept through this pathway unless you were brilliant in your home country
It’s really great information for IMG
It really is!

Dear Dr
Thank you very much for your clear and well-documented information, I am a neuroradiologist with residency and fellowship of 5 years in U of Chile, 55 years of age with a lot of academic and clinical experience, the problem, as i think for most of IMG especialist, is having to take the 3-step USMLE medical exam, the years of medical career a long time ago. Dr Herly Hughes. MD.
I do agree that taking USMLE can be deterrant but it is the safest approach than exploring other pathways! If you don't have MLE, you can explore Canada! You seem to have a lot of experience!

Pls I l need some materials for USMLE. Can you help?
Thank you very much for the information Dr.
Is DNB from india WHO approved , how to check this on the list.
As DNB is done mostly in private hospitals and govt district hospitals, I have a doubt how to check them on the list
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Either a 3 year pg training or 3 year work experience as a physician from the last 5 years
Hello Dr Iyer,
I'm currently doing my oncology fellowship in Lebanon, I recently became became ECFMG certified after clearing my USMLE exams and will take the USMLE Step 3 exam at the end of the year. After I finish my fellowship in my home country next year, will doing 2 years of advanced fellowships in leukemia and lymphoma count towards obtaining a license to practice in the US? I prefer not to repeat my training all over again.
NB: The hospital has an ACGME accredited hem-onc fellowship but the leukemia and lymphoma advanced fellowships are not ACGME accredited.
Thank you for your insight.
Thank you for sharing your story here. Wish you the best

Thank you for the guidance, Dr.Lyer!
I'm IMG, anatomic pathologist with 10years of experience and came to US 2years ago as a Research Fellow now I'm a research lab specialist lead.
In the bill, the second criteria doesnt list USMLE as a requirement if IMG has practiced 3 of last 5 years and licenced in home country. I didn't take USMLE because of the busy nature of my current engagement.
What is the opportunity for pathology in Tenesse? Do I have a hope?
Thank you for your feedback!
Best regards
To get a license having an ECFMG is the safest bet. The bill can be different from the licensing requirements and this can be different from the hospital requirements. These are the things you will not find online!
In my experience as i have seen, there are times when the hospitals have managed to hire IMGs without USMLE and you will have to find a hospital that is willing to do so!

thank you for this informative video, is there opportunity to work outside of Tennessee once you have acquired the license
Many details are not clear about this new path. But once an IMG gets a state license, in TN, there would be opportunities to explore licenses in other states.

Dear Dr. Iyer,
Thank you much for your informative video on the TN path. I am a specialist from Iran. The first question is that I am licensed to practice in my specialty in my country and I am practicing in my field, but I have not taken my board exam: in order to enter the TN path, would I need board certification as well or is licensure just going to be enough?
You need to be certified in your specialty

Doctor I wanted to know if you have any information about aesthetic medicine in Canada.
Is it possible to practice as an aesthetic physician after passing the MCCQE 1 exam and getting the LMCC. Without going into residency. ?

Hello Dr, Thank you for the information.
I am a Radiologist from Ethiopia with two years of experience as a radiologist. I had also 3 years of experince as a GP.
I am planning to take USMLE but I want to know the demand and level of competition for my field?
Thank you.
Great question. In the field of radiology, both competition and demand are high. If you've completed your residency in the US, the demand for your skills increases. However, if your residency was completed outside of the US or Canada, the competition can be more intense. Regardless, you should aim to present a strong application to maximize your chances of success.

Hi I am interested to know more. As Belgian trained orthopedic surgeon I am finishing my 3rd spine fellowship but as I am contacting the medical board (CA in my case) they ask the fellowships to be accredited. Dear Dr, Thanks for your incredible videos, you mentioned that anyone who wants to work in Tennessee must finished residency training in home country, in my case I finished my GP in my home country then I obtained my residency training in another country, so will I be eligible or no? You could finish medical college & residency from two different countries but still b eligible assuming you meet the other required criteria.

Hi. I am vascular surgeon in ny home country Ecuador with five years of experience. If is possible apply to work in Tenesse, what do you recomend? Thanks..
Yes, if you are eligible with ECFMG certification and other requirements, you can certainly apply in TN and any where in the USA.
www.IMGSecrets.com
If you get a license from Tennessee does that mean you can become eligible for license in any other state or at least you get an advantage? Or does it mean you can only stay in tenessee
This is a great question. Once an IMg gets successful is securing a license in one state it puts the candidate at a significant advantage to secure licensing in other states.

Hello Sir,
I am an orthopedic surgeon from India having three years of senior residency experience at a government hospital in Delhi after my Masters of Surgery in Orthopedics. I have passed USMLE Step 1 and got 243 on step 2, passed OET as well. I am not sure how confident should i be to approach this path of moving to the US since there is no update yet on the same. Could you help me know whether i should apply as per the traditional route of doing observerships, seeking LOR, applying for residency OR go for this route (Tennessee)? And would applying to such a highly competitive branch like orthopaedics as an IMG be a foolish thing to do?

Hi doc, are ACGME fellowships for anesthesia competitive as an img who did pg outside The Us?
As an IMG if you come directly into a fellowship, then your fellowship would not be considered ACGME accredited
www.IMGSecrets.com
@IMGSecrets thanks, so how would the alternate pathway of anesthesia allow for state licenses after board certification when you only did non ACGME, or is there a way to go around that?
@@AmdKalil Well the alternate path is different. In the alternate path, the American Board of Anesthesiology approves the position and this can be a fellowship or faculty, or both

How I can do it in Tennessee. If this Tennessee offer is open now or it will be available in 2024 what is the best website of Tennessee I can go through.

My daughter is a 12 grader. We live in California. She is interested in medicine, and we are exploring AIIMS New Delhi and JIPMER Pondicherry as an option.
We are unsure if that is a good idea if she wants to return to the US for residency. ( she is a US citizen)
The reason for the choice is
1. Significantly less cost of education in India compared to the US.
2. Number of years to complete education - five and half years vs. eight to nine years
3. Uncertainty around the MD admission process in the US.
Can you please provide your perspective on this option.
This is a good idea and many NRIs have done this. The rules regarding AIIMS keep changing but if she is able to get into AIIMS in New Delhi that would be great. Once she gets back, she would be considered an International Medical Graduate for admission to residency. She has to be ECFMG certified.

Hi I’m anesthesiologist can I apply for this without exam and become a practitioner. I have 4 year experience
You can definitely apply. The key question is whether you have a competitive application package to increase your chances of acceptance. I don't have details about your training background, but in general, IMGs should strive for a strong application, as reapplication might not be an option if initially rejected.

Hello sir I am an obgyn specialist from India...
Plz do tell me ways to enter Canada after completing my mrcog (all 3 parts from India)
And how can I get a fellowship in Canada in my speciality (obgyn) for instance
fetal medicine
To enter Canada as a specialist I typically recommend Clinical Fellowship. To improve your chances of securing fellowships in a competitive specialty, it's crucial to focus on strengthening your application. I must emphasize that, based on my understanding, completing MRCOG exams in India is unlikely to significantly impact your application.
However, there are steps you can take to enhance your chances: identify suitable fellowships, craft a compelling personal statement, be prepared to have strong references.
I recommend exploring www.IMGSecrets.com, where you can find valuable information and potentially book an appointment for further one-on-one guidance on your options.
Remember, the competition is fierce, so invest time and effort into developing a robust application that highlights your unique qualities and dedication. Best of luck in your pursuit of fellowships!
