I've always found the Lokasenna to have two meaning, first that it's Loki's truth-telling, but also that it's the final truth-telling as in "loka/hinsta/seinasta"
Stories and myths shape cultures, languages and even thoughts of their people. I've always been fascinated with Norse mythology as their gods are both powerful and flawed, much like "mortal" men and women ;)
That's one thing that they share with ordinary men and women - the Norse Gods themselves are mortals - they are not invincible nor possess eternal lives.
All "Gods" have flaws. "God" is a title, just like president. Yahweh isn't perfect in Christian Mythology. He apparently killed millions with a flood then swore he'll never do that again. Ops my bad.
The sister of Njord is strongly suspected to be Nerthus, as the romans called her, or Njärd by Norse naming. Apparently, the name refers to earth. Atleast, this is what I was told by a university lecturer when asking. This brother and sister sleeping with each other seems to be a recurring thing with the Vanir gods specifically. Njord with Njärd and Frej with Freja.
Actually, Heimdallr was the Gods watchmen from Bifrost where he _sat_ all day guarding the Gods. Loki accused him of having a wet _bottom_ from sitting all day.
One can never have too much Jackson Crawford.
I will watch or read anything that Jackson does. I love his videos and books. 😊❤
Learned AND handsome... It's almost too good to be true 😅
I clicked on this video without a CLUE Dr. Crawford would be on it. Needless to say, I am pleasantly surprised.
I really like how Dr. Crawford is starting to call Jotnar, " antigods" more often

It’s hard enough work being an atheist.
Thank God we don’t also have to be labelled as Athorists and Aodinists too.
