The scene is a parody of learning french, quite hilarious actually. Thanks for putting it out there Virginie.

Je la connais bien sûr, mais je n'ai jamais regardé cette émission auparavant. Cet gars est vraiment drôle. Lol. Et j'ai finalement lasser une commentaire, moi même, sans parler en anglais dabord, et puis couper et coller le traduite français ( and looking at the result, and saying to myself, yeah, i understand that; thats what i would have said, so ill just cut and paste the translation).
Merci.

French does have a certain vibrational tone to it. Also I suggest turning the speed down to about 1/2 in the settings.

How about mon nom est jim. My name is Jim. I can get by with je m'appelle jim, but I call myself Jim is a bit obtuse!

Interestingly, this little scene is helpful and shows how beginners sometimes feel about learning french!

Virginie, everyone has to toot their flute once in awhile! And no I don't sing like a saucepan!

I seem to notice the translation of je m'appelle is: I call myself, and the English speaking world does not talk like that. Often the teacher relates its: my name is. The learner needs to pick up on such things right away.

Then again the non french speaker isn't wired to learn or comprehend the idiosyncrasies, nuances, of the french language. Ya can't fit a square peg in a round hole, in other words. Great choice Virginie of videos. Really funny, and often learning french I kinda feel that way too!

Languages should be learned with basic words, used and repeated almost every day or in situations that build upon language learning. Bonjour Madame Virginie. Ca va? Quelle age avez vous? As I was relating in a previous posting, the french have a somewhat twisted way of speaking. What age have you is a rather dated way of asking, how old are you? Can I use the tu form or should I use the vous form in messages to you? Merci.

There is more to teaching than just a good looker. Really start simple, but explain the English translations to modern day English speakers. French is a more cultured language, the language of civilization, gender and manners oriented. Politeness can get a person far in the french speaking world. Something Americans need to work on. Merci.
