    Excellent advice. I (used to) travel a lot and would agree with it all . I didn’t know about MZ Wallace so thank you for the recommendation. My only addition is to recommend you are able to prove the bags you carry overseas were bought in the USA... so you don’t run in to customs trouble when you return if you are flying international. If you like to buy bags overseas (like I do) then make sure you declare them to US customs when you return...

    Lots of good advice here, especially about protecting the interiors of larger bags from damage by the hardware of smaller items placed inside. I love the Kelly wallet, but its protruding turnlock can inflict a lot of damage. I travel quite a bit (though obviously not so much lately!) and my two standard carryons are a Garden Party TGM in toile with leather trim and a 40 cm Birkin. The Garden Party can really withstand being shoved into an overhead compartment and not sustain any damage. But it might be wise for me to get a protective outer bag for the Birkin as you suggest. With these two bags, I can easily accommodate a laptop, charging cords, lots of reading material, trail mix, wallet, a couple of sweaters, and still have room for quite a bit more miscellaneous stuff. I agree with you that the 7/RP inserts are the best, and I have them for each of my Kelly bags and Birkin but, as good as they are, they're rather pricey. I probably won't be buying anymore of them.

      The Garden Party is fantastic for traveling 👏🏻 I flew with my B40s in the past but they're way to heavy to lug through the airport and it can't be placed on top of your suitcase securely unless you completely band the handles 🤷🏻‍♂️ 7RP inserts are beautiful but there're plenty of other, more affordable options out there 🙋🏻‍♂️

      @@IamGPS Agree completely about the weight of the Birkin 40. It would be so much better if it could take a shoulder strap and be worn cross-body. In my rundown of what I pack, I forgot the principal item, a Kelly 35 with a shoulder strap, that I use when I finally hit my destination. It fits neatly inside the Garden Party.

    Another awesome video.
    It's impressive what disapears from the luggage at airports, and the impunity that usually follows.
    Would love to watch a video with your opinion on the Hermés travel items, maily the luggage cubes and the Wallago bags.

    Great video! I travel often from Shanghai to Spain to visit my family and i take my Dior book tote to keep my handbag purchases inside of it . I fid the structure of the Dior booktote is pretty good to protect the bags inside 😁 I agree that 7rp are great craftmanship but too expensive. I have 3 H bags so i have 3* 7rp inserts but if i keep growing my H collection i will look into other options 🤣

    Also wondering whether you prefer 7RP inserts over the Hermès bag inserts! I bought an H insert for my B40 and now your video has me wondering whether 7RP could’ve been a better choice !! 😭😭😭

    Hi GPS-
    I don't know if you're still taking questions for your luxury Q&A, but here's something I'm curious about. I'm wondering what you think of luxury brands who try to expand their market reach by offering lower-priced goods. In nearly every case, the lower cost is made achievable by cutting quality of materials or quality of workmanship. It seems to me that this would eventually yield to an erosion of the public's perception of a house being a truly luxury purveyor and would damage their image. Until recently, it seemed nearly every "luxury" brand other than Hermès has been guilty of this. However, thinking about it, I think even Hermès has been guilty of this for quite a while by creating the simplistic Herline series of bags, the recently introduced Silk'In line of low-cost wallets, and even the Avalon blanket. I began thinking about this when your site had a discussion of pilling on some Hermès woven products. The Avalon blanket, made in Scotland, is getting notorious for this. My Avalon, only a couple of years old, is already pilling, and it gets little use. I've also got a much older (20+ years) all-cashmere Hermès blanket heavily embroidered in silk that gets a lot of use and hardly has any pilling at all. I don't know what this blanket cost or how old it actually is since it was my mother's. I recently bought a Tartan Dye Blanket from Hermès and the quality is incredible, far superior to the Avalon, though more expensive. It's hand woven of all cashmere in Nepal and is the kind of quality I traditionally associate with Hermès, showing that good quality products are still possible. But God! I hate to think that an Hermès Diffusion line has been introduced by stealth.

    GPS, when you have to use a public restroom and the floor around the urinal is wet, what would you do with your Birkin bag?
    When you fly to Italy, never put valuables in your check-in luggage, the airport ground staff there are famous for stealing.......

    • @IamGPS
      @IamGPS  4 года назад

      I never put my bags on the floor, it goes on top of my carryon 😂

      @@IamGPS GPS, what if you're on a day trip without any luggage to leave your Birkin bag on?
      Once I had to use a public restroom in NY in January, the floor was flooded with melted snow and the booths were too dirty to use. After that experience I never bought a bag without a shoulder strap even though I prefer to hand carry one........ =(

    I was looking for a bag with some padding to protect my purse when traveling international. Thank you so much!
    I have 7RP 3 inserts (B30, B25, K28R) and love them. The only complaint I have is that the edge of K28 insert are at the same level as the K28 evercolor zipper pocket, so when I close the Kelly the two front corners of the insert kinda push the pocket out and I can see two little bumps from the outside. I watched an interview with the owner of the 7RP and learned the Kelly Retourne insert is slightly taller than the Kelly Sellier insert. I think may be buying a Sellier insert for a Retourne may solve the problem. It could be the leather type too. Just sharing.~

    • @IamGPS
      @IamGPS  4 года назад

      Oh really? I'm surprised to hear that because their u.s.p. is that each insert is specifically designed and cut to suit the unique design features of every one of Hermes' bags. You should let them know because if your zipper is pushed against the back of your Kelly it might leave a mark in the leather over time 🙈
