Dude... 80s fantasy art style is something, they should make more of it.
From a movies perspective, Dark Crystal, Never Ending Story, Labyrinth. Worth checking out!
@@carmagadon11 never ending story horse death fucked me up
@@Fergusonhelper225 Yeah that made me tear up when I was a kid, and would propably still do so now. ...that swamp needs to be drained
@@carmagadon11 yeah it's a tough movie from kid perspective, i remember this more as horror than fantasy
So true I love it
I can't believe that AI is already at the point where it makes me want to watch something that doesn't even exist.
Wow, that really reminds me of old Conan movies, and, in a minor degree, of PJ's LotR. That dark, cold energy. Beautiful.
I'm optimistic, though, for the future. The arrival of AI-generated, zero effort movies shall impose a baseline for the large producers to overcome; it's changing already, with younger people no longer being impressed by CG and instead rediscovering classics like LotR or Prince of Egypt. This will hopefully force studios to actually get their stuff back together.
@@Thelaretus Prince of Egypt is a masterpiece
@@Thelaretus didnt you copy paste this comment?
@@armyvictory0191 I usually do that, yes. Makes it more likely to be seen and I'm too lazy to type.
this is not ai...
The best thing about this is that i can almost imagine remembering this movie, given that i played the game. Like you can get the vibe how the whole forest where Sif is would look like and what sounds would be, not exactly like the game but it would remind you of the game. And Anor Londo with its knights on the sunlit towers and walkways.
You can imagine the a bit hushed and mysterious voice of the actress playing firekeeper...
I want this movie to be real so bad... :D
To be fair, dark souls have that vibe as well. Feels like a game you played in the 90s in a good way
100% dude I would love to see this.
Dude, straight up took the thoughts out of my head. I can literally imagine how EVERYTHING else would look in this style. They should actually hire this guy to make a movie, because I think he honestly has the aesthetic for a DS 1 Movie down PERFECTLY.
Just imagine a movie based around dark souls games. The only issue is that the world is super dark and depressing and it wouldn't make sense to make the main character talk much. Honestly the closest thing we have now that I think about it is Berserk but the shows/movies for it are pretty lame.
@@wingsoficarus1139 Nothing wrong with a stoic main character that doesn't talk too much. There was a lot of that in the 80s.
The sad thing is that we Will never get a movie like this. With practical effects. Everything has flashy colors like Marvel movies mostly.
Have you seen "The Last Duel"?
you never know
Marvel ruined the movie industry
Skynet : I got you fam
I honestly don't know what you're on about, movies have only gotten darker and color-corrected blue ever since the rise of digital cameras, and Marvel movies are a terrible example of flashy colors
search up "Marvel color grading" and you'll find many examples of people fixing it by making the colors actually pop
Dude, half the movies these days feel like their stories were created by AI...
WE NEED TO GO BACK IN TIME TO THE FIRST THANKSGIVING TO GET TURKEYS OFF THE MENU.
Had that feeling since the 90. Always the same movie. Again and again.

And not the smartest one to be fair
2:56 That aged like fine wine in the next few years
This art perfectly captures the feelings of movies like the 80s Conan. Absolutely incredible. Does anyone know a good way to be able to frame these pictures on a wall?
Frame high quality versions of the images seen in that video? Well, unless the creator is selling prints, you'd have to do it the bootleg way. First download the video using 3rd party application, in the highest resolution available, then play the video locally on your pc, ensuring you choose highest possible playback and fullscreen, then take a screenshot. Then you'd want to take the screenshot file on a thumb drive to a local shop that offers prints services on high quality art paper, or some shops let you email it. Then if you're lucky they might have frames in the same place, depending on the type of shop. Otherwise there are large arts & crafts franchises like Hobby Lobby or your local equivalent that have framing services, usually there's a separate desk in the back of the store.
But to be clear, this is just the first method that came to mind, i'm sure someone will be quick to correct me or offer their preferred method, obviously you can try whatever you like.
Also this is obviously just a workaround/substitute for buying legit prints from the artist, i don't claim it'll have the same level of quality, and you should support the artists whenever possible.
Nail a little bracket into the wall and you can hang a frame from it 👍🏻
No it doesn't lol.
And "with a disque plate discount code"
@@superalatreon1 yeah, and you can't even go to the original video to get links cause this isn't that persons work. They don't even know who made the art and assumes it's "midjourney" or someone.
@@superalatreon1 Dang "creator selling prints" - just by typing a few words into MidJourney. They really need to get copyright laws to catch up to AI quicker than they are. In the mean time try and just recreate the prompts into MidJourney yourself - get them for free.
I'm absolutely obsessed with that video and not too long ago I wondered what Asmongold's thoughts would be on the thing. It's crazy how nostalgia and futuristic tech intertwine.
same, it has that fucking magic atmosphere to it, exactly like DS1

Too bad the original got deleted. I hope someone saved it and can reupload or something. There's something truly mesmerizing about it, that had me coming back from time to time.

@@shadesilverwing0I got the video. Some people here on reddit have it aswell. Idk if i can post links here on yt without my comment getting taken down though.
If I could go back in time to the 70s or 80s with a few million dollars, I would 100% do my absolute best to create a Dark Souls movie with this exact vibe, maybe a short series of movies even covering different areas of the game, like Dark Souls: The Undead Rise, Dark Souls: The Depths of Chaos, Dark Souls: The Fortress of Sen, Dark Souls: The Lie of Anor Londo, coming up with movie titles is fun.
Give it a few more years and you could create that exact film using AI like this. And it wouldn't cost a few million dollars.

How did it nail the lighting and graininess of 80s film?
Bro I have been watching "Dark Souls as an 80's Dark Fantasy Film" for the past 5 days since I saw it uploaded and to see Asmongold react to it is a welcome site.
This would be perfect for a 80s I'd watch it in a heartbeat
This is going to sound silly but something about that wolf picture the way he's looking at you is like "you must accept your destiny, take the sword". The way the lighting is and the subtle glow of the blade. Sends shivers down your spine.
The knight at 1:02
That guardian in the bell tower.

The original video isn't available anymore. :(
Iv'e never played a Souls game. I have watched a friend play it for a moment or two and watched Asmon play Elden Ring, but I have never played it myself. That said, this is some really good fantasy art! One day, I will give it a try.
I suggest you start with Elden Ring, its the most "friendly" to beginners.

“I’ve never been so hyped for a movie I’ve never seen (doesn’t exist)” sums up my feelings perfectly.
we need a 80s dark fantasy dark souls movie trilogy by David Lynch. to truly confuse you and mess up your mind just like the games.
I need this so, so badly.
Why did the original vid get taken down?
Good question. I hope it's uploaded somewhere else
That video was an amazing mix of nostalgia and awesome it was ... Nostalsome
You should check out the 80's dark fantasy Elden Ring ones from Ghoulgash!
I’d kill for a movie that looks just like this, it’s probably be the best movie ever made
Why movie? I want games in this style
@@znubionekprobably because these images capture the aesthetic of 80s and 90s films by not being the sharp HD quality that we’re all used to in post-2005 movies. a modern game wouldn’t really be able to capture this visual feeling and aesthetic. BUT the game that you do want is literally what the images are based on, DARK SOULS 1. it looks exactly like this and you can play it on XB1 or XSX or the remaster but the remaster doesn’t look as good as the original imo
@@tekkaufman3111 dark souls doenst look like this. and i dont get why a video game could capture this visual feeling, of course it could
I've been trying to find out what that ambient music is in the background and now I can't find the original vid

I really do not understand why people today don't make movies like this. We have the technology, CGI-enhanced practical effects and sets could look AMAZING today, yet every big budget movie is done with nearly 100% CGI effects and they all look like video games instead of movies. Martin Scorsese was spot on when he said the Marvel movies are more like theme park entertainment than actual films. This is true about most modern day fantasy and sci-fi. Such a shame.
It’s probably because of how much more effort and time it would take to set up the practical effects, I mean plenty of movies still use practical. I think, but it’s just easier for someone to have a idea and run it through a machine through CGI. I understand what you mean, it’s an overlooked feature. And at the time was revolutionary. But now it seems like it runs for a niche genre of people, but maybe one day we’ll see it become more popular.
I like the idea of creating a story yourself, the characters, the scenes, the environment, and then throwing the concept at the AI to see what it would look like in said style, instead of giving the AI the problem to write the story.
A stop-motion Sif would be awesome to see.
15 fps with good dogo swinging arround while your 500$ pc struggles to render the enviroment? Chefs Kiss...perfection.🤣🤣🤣
I've been watching a ton of these ai compilations like this. Really wish people still made movies like this.
Imagine this being in stop motion…. Holy shit that would be so cool
Watch the music video "Holy Diver" By Dio.
100% Souls vibes. He even walks Through a Fog Wall in a part no joke, and this is like early 80s.
So much infact I named my Strength Faith Build in Elden Ring Holy Diver.
my headcannon - Miyazaki got his fog wall idea from watching the video. I mean, it's just too close a concept!
"oH mAH gaWd itS *high pitched squeal* tHe BiRb!"
I saw that video the day it came out and I’ve tried to spread it as much as I can. Probably the best video I’ve seen in the last 2 years, it’s pure wizardry
Guys, even a 3/10 Dark Souls movie would be amazing to me if it looked like this.
2:56 That aged like fine wine in the next few years

Can't stop watching these "dark 80s fantasy" creations. Every one is amazingly spot on.. and awesome. I want a coffee table book chuck full of these images.
Nowadays there are bad sequels to old movies, but it would be awesome to to see original movies adaptations of modern games filmed with old cameras in the style of old movies.
1:27 looks like the tower knight from demons souls
No Gwynevere Sadge
Prt 2 has her
They need to put in Black iron tarkus
Now I want to see "Morrowind as 80's dark fantasy movie"
AI is so Creepy and awesome at the same time
This is how I’ll remember dark souls 30 years from now
As long as you had writers write an extremely detailed script and describe every scene this could be less than 10 years away.
ngl I would actually watch dark souls as movies if done right, I'm not a fan of the games personally but thematically I'm all for it. and as a movie the story can be expressed differently as compared to a players point of view.
"if done right"
As a Halo fan, you do NOT want a video game turning into a movie. Trust me. Halo fans learned their lesson from this.
To be honest theses pictures are fucking scary alot.
Unfortunately we will NEVER get something this perfect in a movie directed by a big studio
It could happen with the AI
I wouldn't underestimate this. With everything we have now to this current age, I'm sure a renaissance in the movie making industry will happen soon if they actually consider using this for future films. Too many people who've seen this are only giving it more encouragement. I even wanna see more too lol
@@Immortalis... Unfortunately, the massive support of hardcore fans pales in comparison to the money that will flood the studio if they make dark souls another generic action fantasy movie
A indie dark souls movie would be rather hype
This is why video game movies should come out more often
We will have stylized animations and photoreal FMVs generated by AI before the end of next year
I wish there were movies coming out with an 80’s ascetic, there was a different kinda style to them, grainy film stock, less advanced lighting Riggs, etc
It reminds me of "Vordum: price of death"
80's Sword and Fantasy style. LOVE IT
i said this before but software's "first dark souls" title ,called king's field , if more popular could have gotten a movie just like this if they tried.
If they ever generate this movie it would be really cool if all monsters were animated in lower framerate like stop motion, with human error, would make it really authentic.
whenever I see these grainy pictures with that 80s fantasy aesthetic, all I can think of is shitty, yet nostalgic audio.
i miss the film look in movies
THEY TOOK IT DOWN
That's so sad .... I hope the original video is re-uploaded somewhere...
Dark Souls in 80's Dark Fantasy Film gave me the Jason and the Argonauts vibes.
I want Dark Souls movie so badly
That would be something else, like we get new versions of movies like the new King kong, the new Karate Kid, maybe in the future wer gonna get new movies but retro versions, like Avatar in the 80´s generated by A.i.
the cinematography of this movie would be so beautiful if we consider these pictures as stills.
fuck i gotta beat this game before the film comes out. im like half way through plus dlc. the game is so intense n takes alot of mental energy yet it's so fun, so i been on a break recovering my mental.
The film ain’t real bro just sayin it’s AI art
@@thund3rbird738 ohh i see, just ai images. well hopefully one day, would be super cool.

I still don’t like the idea of AI replacing artists
i dont know if anyoine saw The Cabinet of Curiosity' on Netflix, but that one guy who directed the episode 'The viewing' would make good on the visuals for a Dark Souls film
I would pay so much money to see this and if it had that ray harryhausen stop motion magic for the monsters
Tbh if fromsoft games a game with the style of an 80s dark fantasy thatd be great
I would pay a lot to see Dark Souls movie
this guy really broke the youtube algorithm code, why the fuck do i get these clips recommended to me almost daily, i guess reacting to current stuff keeps you in everyone's recommendations forever
it's gonna be a movie for sure
I feel like If Jim Hensens company stopped with the puppets and did this type of production it would do so well
"yeah, but normal movies suck too so what's the difference?"
No no, he's actually right.
I need this movie... like right now
Next will be full video with production level scenes and fights!
Ai takes images from alternate universe where dark souls game is based on a 30 year old movie.
Sad thing about this movie was orienstien what I wanted him to be like was a guy with a V-shaped body like how he is in DS game and the second one.
The 80s fiction suck because of early CGi. They should make a comeback. The camera colour grading is oddly satisfying
The only good use for AI Art, this... this is a masterpiece
I would rather a fully generated AI movie over the corporate marvel churning of shite. at least the cgi errors would be interesting
One day AI will begin generating an unlimited supply of 80s movies.
I would watch a Movie based on Dark Souls. It would be even more sick if there was no main character dialogue and the entire movie was silent except for a few support character lines and ambient sounds.
Ornstein as a girl is literally Throne Watcher and Defender from DS2 lmao.
“Dark Souls as an 80s Dark Fantasy Slide-Show”
Gwynevere better have the goods tho
I'm pretty sure we already have the technology baseline to make an AI generated movie.. The issue that it currently has is that a) There would be a fuckton of artifacting so you'd still need a bunch of editors to make it "movie quality" b) making a whole ass movie would take a very very long time even with top of the line hardware c) making the AI understand what you want from it. It would give you what you describe, but the execution might be completely different from what you want. Pair it with how long it would take to generate the scene every time you retry, and it would be tedious af for questionable results.. But you most definitely could feed AI a bunch of fantasy movies and make it "generate a movie".
honestly fully generated AI movies might be closer than you think, I'd say something like 10minutes would be possible before 2025 given sufficient rendering time
omg at min 3 i realized it was all just ai art, im just spechless, thx for all asmon
Asmongold is right. AI has the possibility of just making a movie just from prompts.
The good old fire keeper shrine huh
It feels like "Kingdom of Heaven"
I want to play through Darksouls with a reskin like this over the whole game
i mean, as a 80s movie the trama would fucking suck, but it brings so much nostalgia
I wonder if in the future we can create AI movies. Like this, where you ask it and get pictures, but it produces videos instead. I know this sounds crazy but at the rate we are developing new technology now then it might actually be possible in the near future
That 80s lighting effect, wonder what produced it in real 80s movies, with the super white bright lit surfaces mirrored by deep darkness. Floodlighting i guess.
Man I hope they make a movie out of this game someday.
