Hey, I was just telling another guy who was also breaking this song down that when you get to your 3rd Chord, which I believe is also a Eaug7 or E7♯5, play that chord over {E} instead {Eb} for your Bass line. That's what Devante' played in this song and is a move that has been used in the church for many years now. Also, go to the BET special that they did many years ago for when they were working on this song in the studio. You will see him playing it on the piano.😎🎹😎 Blessings
@darrelpoitier @davidwood6089 Hi hopefully you guys can help me, my theory isn't this advanced but I've been tryin to figure out the chord with your suggestions, real amazing sound. E chord at 5:50. I made the bass note, Eb, into a natural E like you said (E, Bb, Db, E, G) and that looks like a Edim7. Are those the notes? Got stumped on the 7 and #5 of E you mentioned, since I don't see a D or C in this video or hear them. I couldn't clearly see it in the Jodeci Docugroove either unfortunately.. And how necessary is the D note in the last G chord to save finger real estate? maybe just Gaugb9? Any help would be appreciated, thank you. Been listening to this song on repeat for two days now

Whatever You Want = Bass Finger on (C) & Right Hand starting with thumb = (Bb, D, F, G) No. 2 Chord = Bass (E) & (Bb, Db, E, G) 3rd Chord = Bass (F) & (Ab, C, Eb, G) 4th Chord = Bass (G) & (B, Eb, F, G), and that's all of the Verse and Chorus! to go to the Bridge you just go to the 4 (Bass line) Enjoy!!!!
