those linebackers they had back then.. Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks on the outside and Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman on the inside, with Justin Smith and company up front.. they were legit 💯 those games against the Legion of Boom Seahawks were absolute wars 🔥🔥
4 yards short of a Super Bowl if only kaup didn’t over throw moss on first down
Them boys were nasty. Carlos Rogers Dashon Goldson etc.
Plus Goldston and Donte Hitner in the secondary that defense was legit terrifying
I used to want to combine the Seahawks secondary and the Niners front 7 to make the scariest unit possible.
@@tayrohnbrown8586 Along with strong man,Isaac Sopoaga,at DT.
Absolute LEGENDS 💪
They gonna be missed forever❤❤❤💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥
Yea man they were fun to watch. Even a an eagles fan. I used to watch sea/sf and bal/Pitt and wish we had defenses like those back in those days
Seahawks fan here….I love these guys!
There was a very poor display of fans when Bowman got hurt and was carted off and Seattle fans throw popcorn at Bowman.
I never felt lower as a Seahawks fan than when terrible Seahawks fans did that to Bowman. Totally, unacceptable.
Bowman and Willis look to be great humans and I was always a fan cause they were equally as awesome football players.
Even though I’m a Seahawks fan, I’m always a football fan first and these two guys were monsters!
Always respected these two guys!
Salute!
Respect from California brother. True fans of the game like us hate to see any player go down. I'd rather lose a game to a fully healthy squad, than win because a star players season was ended. You're a real one
Respect. That was the moment I hated Seattle officially. I was like what a trash fan base to throw stuff at a warrior like bowman. But hey not all the same I see now 👍.
Respect to you. My hate started that day for Seattle. It’s good to see a fan with class.
Seahawk fans are just trash in general
Respect. No matter how much I hate a team, I never wish injury on any players because these guys have lives and families, too. And when the Seahawks fans did that, I felt worse about it than actually losing the game. Bowman was a phenomenal player whose prime was cut short because of that knee injury. Shoutout to you for the class, respect and admiration you’ve shown not only to Bowman and Willis, but to all the players who lay it all out on the field.
First Pat and Bow, now we got Fred and Dre. Truly is the 49er way. Much love and respect to all past and present players. Forever Faithful.❤️💛
Not close at all
@@ttt2690comparable but yea not close
Agreed.
@@Manu907z comparable for a quick thought of “oh na nvm that was dumb” they are not close
No they are not
2011-2013 Willis and bowman is the best inside linebacker duo of all time. These guys were complete players. They could cover in zone, man against slot receivers tight ends and running backs, were excellent against the run, and were effective blitzers. Ridiculous speed as well, as demonstrated by being able to run down guys like Vick. Not to mention they were both extremely hard hitters. Willis is the best linebacker I’ve ever seen. 6’1 240 pounds and ran a 4.3 40. I think he was 7x pro bowl and 5x 1st team all pro in the 7 full seasons he played. It’s criminal hes not in the HOF yet. That unfortunate leg injury to bowman in the 2013 nfccg pretty much ended his prime. He was never a the same after that. Those 2011 and 2012 49er defenses would’ve been considered all time great had their teams won the super bowl. They had multiple pro bowl players at ever level. They were unreal.
San Francisco in 2012 did something that only New England in 2007 and Washington in 1991 have done since the merger:
Have nine players voted first or second team all pro by the Associated Press.
Willis and Bowman being two of them.
Used to make me mad how good those 49er teams were
Lance briggs and brian urlacher weren't bad either.
U most ain't heard of Sam mills & von Johnson of those 90's saints
@@bayarea_hemi they couldn’t do what Willis and Bowman could do in the passing game
I'll never forget that playoff game vs Seattle when Bowman stripped the ball and held onto the ball even as his knee was getting destroyed. How special is this guy knowing his season's over and possibly his career, in immense pain yet all he could think about was helping his team win. Wow.
Well the refs decided that wasn't part of the script and gave the ball back to Seattle. And the 49ers get the same treatment still over a decade later. Nfl mad at the franchise over something
God these two were so good in there prime. That 49s defense was nasty with these 2 Aldon Smith, Justin Smith, Donte Witner, Carlos Rodgers, Ahmed Brooks, Dashson Goldson
Shii Willis never left his prime in all honesty 😂 retired before he ever truly started diminishing
Don't bring up none of those secondary players. They was hitters but mediocre at what we needed them for. To cover. They couldn't cover jack shh n cost us the dam supervowl
@@TzUuup Chris Culliver could absolutely cover. What are you yammering on about?? So could Rodgers. Having no safety help ever will make nearly any corner look bad.
@@MrDH8 exactly they lost us the superbowl
@@TzUuup Kyle Williams cost the niners one
Being a Seahawks fan..these guys haunted my dreams for years! Lol seriously the best duo in the last few decades
L RV 5
49ers still haunting sea hawks fans 3-0 yall ass this year
@@adamjones4632 not this year baby! We coming for dat Ass!
@@adamjones4632 why you gotta be toxic? We couldn’t win a game in Seattle for 8 years and the Seahawks would always destroy us in their home stadium.
@@adamjones4632 still don’t have a Super Bowl this century my boy😂😮
While Bowman was a rookie in 2010, he came into his own in 2011. Playing with Willis and Bowman in Madden 12 and 14 (Titled Madden 25) was and is special.
Along with the smith boys and them 2 hard hittin safeties 💪🏿
@@Dipset415 u remember when donte whitner changed his name to "hitner" 🤣
I’ll never forget seeing a picture with them and someone gave them the nicknames “pain & suffering.”
That Niners defense during that era was an absolute Hit Squad. Literally every player and their backup was running through their opponents. They deserved to win a multiple SB’s
52&53 did it all, covering RBs and TEs and always stopping the run. Wish these dude got the rings they deserved with all the dawgs on that D. Love what Fred and Greenlaw are doing today for the Red&Gold
Bowman is the most underrated MLB of ALL TIME. YEAH I SAID IT!
Had it not been for that knee injury and willis toe they would be first ballot hofer and in convos for greatest mlb of all time. Such a shame injuries cut both their careers short
@@balln415 Seahawks fans will forever have my hate for throwing trash at him being carted off the feild.
Belive he recovered the Fumble after his knee was shattered then got dog piled.
Team was special in that Era
I said it first biottchhh !!! Hey bowman your one of the most underrated linebackers take it from me first !
Nothing but facts here
The Twins were wrecking balls in their Primes. Those 2 were scary road blocks in the middle. Felt sorry for anyone catching the ball in those zones.
Pat Willis and Navaro in San Fran, Luke and TD in Carolina, Lewis and Suggs in B-More, gah what a time it was to be a football fan.
👍
Urlacher and Briggs
@@cameronmaloney2786 idk how I forgot them
Wagner and Wright and Irvin in Seattle
@@buckbuckboom6241 Irvin was so overrated. You had it right just mentioning Wags and KJ.
It’s a damn shame they never won a Super Bowl. They were on a legendary defense that 1000000% deserved a ring. Pat Willis is my all time favorite 49er, I love the hell outta Navorro too. They’ll always hold a special place in my heart as a fan.
Yeah, they are legends forever, but the final drive pains me so much more than Super Bowl LIV. I know people talk about Marshawn not being given the rock for Seahawks, but it was a crime not seeing Frank Gore take the ball in for go ahead TD inside the 5.
Makes me smile seeing these two being a 49er fan they just made me so proud
The GREATEST inside Backer duo of all time 💯
Nah
@@bayarea_hemi yeah. and theres no duo even close
@@darkmikey89 shut up 🤡
Those Saints dome patrol was better
They wasn’t
That 9ers D had like 30+consecutive Games of Holding Teams to Under 100 yards rushing, crazy stat;really speaks to just how bad ass they were.
So sad they these guys never got a ring, they really deserved it. That 2011-2013 run was really special. God bless that team. Still hurts till this day all losses so close.
You needed to have a real QB in order to win. Not some "Black History month" aficionado punk.
2013 49ers LB team is arguably one of the greatest in NFL history. Aldon Smith, Willis, and Bowman were 1st team All-Pros. With Ahmad Brooks as 2nd team All-Pro.
What makes you smile will make you cry. We watched them run around and a foot injuries and knee injuries knocked them out. Legends 💐
Ain’t been a duo like them since. That defense & team deserved a chip.
No one will probably ever top these. Dre and Fred are close but these guys were animals
Navorro Bowman was so underrated man 🔥
Absolutely. I was saying in 2011 that Bowman looked better than Willis. People called me crazy. Meanwhile, Vic Fangio asked Bowman to stay in the game in dime packages, not Willis, and PFF ranked Bowman as the #1 run defending LB in the NFL. Bowman is the one who covered the WR Roddy White to break up the pass on 4th down vs the Falcons in the NFC Championship game. Willis was amazing, and it took time for people to see that Bowman was even better.
@@PaulGaither he was not better than Willis but definitely underrated
@@Ballinbmac - No, he was better. PFF and other places graded him higher. His own coaches kept him on the field and had more faith in him when they had to choose between the two. Bowman is 1a to Pat's 1b. Elite LB play for three season. Willis just did it since 2011, but bowman had a devastating injury to cut his career short. yes, he came back and kept playing, but was never close to the same after the broken leg, and who would be? Watch the video itself again. Even the coaches said you could swap their numbers and nobody would notice, and that was only after 2011, not 2013 and 2013 where Bowman improved.
@@PaulGaither he was not better than Patrick Willis. Patrick was a top linebacker without him. You honestly think bowman would’ve had that same exact success without playing with Patrick? He was a hell of a player but saying he was better than Willis is just not true idc about none of that analytics crap.
@@PaulGaither you talking about Willis just did since 2011 he was literally first team all pro to start his career for like 5 straight years. He might’ve added more in the pass game I concede that. Most great linebacker duos or trios have players that are better than the other at something. I don’t know everything but I’ve actually sat with a guy named Chris slade former nfl player all time leading sack artist for Virginia for 3 years I sat learning the game of football starting out my coaching career. I’m not saying everything I say is fact because bottomline we both are sharing opinions. But I just find it hard to believe that Patrick Willis at his peak and Navarro bowman at his peak. You are picking bowman like I honestly find that hard to believe especially when Mike Singletary coached ray lewis and Willis and he says that Willis was in his cloth. Like I understand the coaches argument. But you gotta player who is top 10 all time middle linebacker who coached a top 3 middle linebacker of all time and he said Willis is in his cloth it’s all preference but I’m I think I trust Singletary when it comes to judging middle linebackers over even the current dc who allegedly said what you typed
That Harbaugh defense was lights out especially those two LBers in the middle! 💯 🥊😵
Niners have been blessed with Linebacker talent. Willis and Bowman, classics like Charles Haley and Ken Norton, and now have Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw. Crazy.
That last touchdown by Bowman at candlestick was magical.
NaVorro Bowmen, one of the greatest MLB all-time and although his career didn't last long. From 2011-2013 and 2015, he was named first team All-Pro. Patrick Willis, if it wasn't for his turf toe injury of why he retire. Bro would have went down as a top 5 MLB. 07-2013, he was named to the All-Pro team. They were one heck of a duo from 2011-2014 playing together.
As a former college linebacker I really appreciated these 2 guys raw talent, instinct, tenacity and humility.
I wasn’t a 49ers fan, but I really enjoyed watching them. It was a real gem.
Same goes for watching Luke Kuechly.
Salute 🫡
Man that unit was my favorite I loved a three starting linebackers
I miss them so much ! Love Fred and Dre but these two right here were a force.
Miss this squad... My favorite niner defense of all time.. SAVAGE!
You can’t tell me football today is better than the actual football we grew up on. Seeing these 2 dismantle someone new every week. This why we love football. Hate that injuries took both of them from the game too early.
Yes. You cannot tell me football today is better than the NFL we grew up watching. Im telling you, including NBA, athletes were built different than vs now.
I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan but that 49ers Defense with Patrick Willis Navarro Bowman Aldon Smith Ahmad Brooks Justin Smith Donte Whitner Carlos Rodgers Was Physical Tough HardHitting Nasty Defense
As Ravens fan when Ravens game wasn't on I was usually watching this team... miss these guys.
As a fellow Ravens fan, these are facts. I absolutely loved watching these two and those 49er teams from that era. So yeah, you're not alone
These men respected the game and game respected them back these are two of the best to ever do it don't let the amount of time they played fool you legends live on forever.
DeShawn Gholston was a hitter at safety too
dashon goldson #38 ?
Whitner
Yea I butcher his name sorry
Ray and Justin in the middle, Aldon and Ahmad outside. Goldson and Donte in the back, defense was insane. Remember those Seattle and SF battles 🔥
Patrick Willis us the best LB I have seen play the game. Him and Ray Lewis were always 1a and 1b since coming into the league. Willis was a video game character out there, and you knew whatever the assignment was he wouldn't just handle it, he'd dominate it
Willis is right under Lewis as the best to ever do it!!! Also Willis is one of the most humble and respectful person/athlete
Deserves HOF SOON 🫡
My favorite LB tandem!
P Willis was an absolute beast my favorite 9ers LB of all times
Best duo to lace them up now look at Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw the Niners linebackers now. Crazy dawgs
As a 49er fan I’ve been blessed to see some great LB’s rock the red & gold but these two together are the best LB duo of all time 👏🏼
I was a huge Patrick Willis fan as a kid..never knew they both made All pro as a tandem I’m beyond impressed…one of these days Willis will make the HOF, or at least he should in my humble opinion
Ima Ravens fan, but man it was beautiful seeing them play. Basically looked exactly alike on the field 😂
Fangio had to be so happy having such tough and versatile ILBs. Really opens up his options drawing up defensive schemes.
That defense 2011-2013 man way better then todays niners defense… but Willis and bowman both savages
Nah
I wouldn't say way better. The defenses from 2011-2013 were never the #1 defense in the NFL, the 2022 49ers defense was. They also never had a DPOY on their roster, the 2022 defense did. It's a toss up
They wasn't even better than tha bears 2006 defense
@@LaMarcGasoldridge The 2011-2013 defense was far better. They had 6 players make the All Pro team. Their entire LB core were All-Pro. Aldon Smith had more sacks in 2012 than Bosa did this year and he didn’t win DPOY.
2 of the hardest hitting linebacker duos miss seeing them play and playing with them on madden
The best linebacker duo in 49'er history .... top 5 duo all time in the NFL !
As a Packers fan, The 49ers always had players that I always would imagine them in green and yellow uniforms that would just be a DOG! All over the field, making it a living hell out there for opposing offenses! Those two were an absolute match and a living nightmare to go against! They destroyed GB’s offense whenever they faced the Niners whether it was in Lambeau or Candlestick Park, Willis and Lewis, Brooks, Aldon Smith, and Justin Smith, they made it a living hell but Willis and Bowman were the ultimate duos that you will never find a better duo that made a defense a living hell that you did not want to play against. So as a Packers fan, I have a ton of respect with 49ers defensive legends and we are hoping to see Walker and Cooper become the next duo now!
Patrick Willis in his prime was one of the greatest inside backers EVER
Bowman was supposed to do what Suggs did once Ray retired to stamp his HOF career , but of course that injury set him back ! I hate injuries 🤦🏾♂️
those 2 were Monsters
OH MY GOD BRO!!!! THOSE BRUHS WERE/ARE ABSOLUTE GREATNESS 💯 LOVE THOSE BROTHERS!!!!!!!
As a Seahawks fan these two were the real deal, plus Ray Lewis is my favorite player of all time and you know P-Will was a younger version of him
My two favorite NFL players ever so humble yet passionate about their craft, never disrespect others or the game and don't come out begging for attention, just a couple good dudes.
Bruh that San Francisco front 7 during these years was NASTY. I really miss those games between them and our Seahawks.
Patrick Willis was the next evolution of MLB. It was Ray, then Willis was the next best. And when he retired, he was still top 3.
I feel like Patrick Willis was a carbon copy of Ray, not an evolution. I feel like Luke and Bobby are the best evolution of MLB. Just my 2 cents but I love em all as a Seahawks fan
@@SteveSaeteurn exactly willis had better long distance speed tho for sure but I always say their exactly the way Jordan and Kobe are, the 2 closest players to one another that we’ve ever seen 💯
@@SteveSaeteurn I think Luke and Bobby are both great but I like Willis over both. They reason I say Willis was the next was because he's the first complete MLB who also had wheels. I think Luke and Bobby would be a next step because yeah they could cover decently, but I don't think Willis was a slouch there.
Best inside linebackers duo all time hands down 💯
As a giants fan , the last part brung a tear to my eyes ✊🏽🖤
I fuck1ng ❤️ these guys. Their time as a duo with SF was way too short.
BANG BANG!!!! LETs get these birds , brother yall set the stage for our current bad ass linebackers!!!
I'm glad they clarified the first "inside" duo to be all pro because as a Bears fan I know Mike Singletary and Wilbur Marshall were both All pro together atleast 1 year, but Mike was inside and Wilbur was outside
Legends.
People forget how elite they were
Love seeing true friendship! Good video.
2 of the best!! BANG BANG
Varro !!!!! Just was with him at the club lol Back home n Pg county we love to see it.
Willis Bowman Brooks and Smith were insane... Simply the best core we had
My favorite duo, I long for this again for the niners. Beasts
I still remember the NFC title game when Bowman got his ACL wrecked and stripped the ball and recovered it (even though the refs blew it on the call). He was never quite the same afterwards. We were lucky to have these guys roaming the middle of the field, absolute legends!
Best duo of LBs we've had since Ulrich and Plummer IMO
I would Agree 💯, best ILB Pair ever in NFL history! P Willie should’ve been 1st ballot HOF. Warner/Greenlaw Bad boys too, but PW n NB straight Legit
When the Raiders signed Bowman I was excited, he's been our best linebacker since Greg Biekert
There will never be a better duo. Warner and Greenlaw and trending up though, if they win a Super Bowl together and are a big part of it it would be hard to leave them out of the conversation.
This was back in 2012....Those kats were legit. I missed those 49ers years
Love this duo!!! And I’m hoping Bosa and Hargrave are the next defense duo of the 49ers!!!.
I’m a broncos fan and these 2 are my favorite linebackers of all time. Besides Von
As a Chiefs fan, I absolutely loved watching these two
I can't describe how much I miss watching the 2011-2013 defenses. You knew if it was 3rd & +5 yards the offense was getting the ball back. The front 7 were legendary and the back end safeties were thumpers.
The greatest Duo of all time
One of the absolute best duos...No doubt! From day one, Patrick was an absolute Beast!.. If I'm building my greatest team ever from scratch, my guaranteed first four defensive players are as follows.. Sean Taylor/ Ed Reed/ Patrick Willis/ Lawrence Taylor
49er empire i miss those players true legends but we always producer good linebackers go Niners💪
That entire D was nasty! Willis and Bowman were something special.
Best linebacker duo in a while(ever in my opinion)
The best linebacker duo EVER!
Rn is the new era… where Warner and Greenlaw is the next Willis and Bowman 🔥😭
the goat as far as inside linebacker dual
Fred and green law are pretty good but 52 and 53 are legends
Niners should retire #52 & #53! Bow just like Pat was all around great linebacker in Niners history! My favorite duo!
As a Seahawks fans I wish these dudes the very best! But I don’t miss them 😅😂
Miss these guys
Fred Warner is Patrick Willis and Dre Greenlaw is Bowman .
Nah fam. Respectfully
@@trentongardner2106 It can still get to that level. Greenlaw Warner is the best linebacker duo in the league. Greenlaw was robbed of making an all pro team from CJ Moseley
As a Seahawks fan I'm glad we beat them in the Championship game. They were tough.
This was some great old school stuff. Middle linebackers aren’t praised the way they used to be back in the day. Now the game has evolved so much that corners and safeties get almost all the attention along with defensive ends. MLBs used to carry the NFL defenses back then.
I guess the NFL, NFL Films, and fans have forgotten about the Steelers' pair of Jacks. Ham and Lambert were first team All-Pro together in 1976 and 1979. They were each 6x First team All-Pro, 2x Second team All-Pro, first ballot HOFs, members of the 75th and 100th Anniversary teams, and both on the 1970s All Decade team. Plus they both have the rings. Lambert was a 9x Pro Bowler, and Ham 8x and also Lambert has DPOY for 1976. They both were sound tacklers who rarely were out of place or made a mistake and could play the pass downfield (Between them, they totaled 70 interceptions. Before I hear any comments about different eras, they were All-Pros in 1978 and later as well when the rules were revised to encourage passing). I've said my peace and will let the facts speak for themself.
Went from Bowman and Willis to Greenlaw and Warner 😤
Strength training with Patrick Willis ….. I could watch that commercial everyday for the rest of my life 😂
Hold on...willis the FIRST 49er to get all-pro 5 years in a row😮😮damn greatness.
That 49er corp 2010-2013 was legendary
And our LB coach was Mike singletary... what a group.
