Love this song! The Five Stairsteps were a teenage five-member brothers & sister vocal soul group from the 60's-70's. "O-o-h Child" was their biggest hit in 1970. They had some other songs such as "You Waited Too Long", "Don't Waste Your Time", "Something's Missing", "A Million To One" etc.
ur pulling on my heartstrings biz! Yes, we were blessed with 70s and 60s hits all over the airwaves 🔥 Smooooooth! They did great covers of ooh baby, baby and all night thing
Nice! I remember hearing this on the radio back when I was a kid. But it wasn't until I saw Spike Lee's Crooklyn which featured the song in its soundtrack that I really listened to it.
One of my favorites, so optimistic, so soulful and soothing, "We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun." Beautiful words. It doesn't get much better than that.
The The Five Stairsteps are from Chicago Illinois. They were the Jackson 5 before the Jackson 5. They have an array of music with songs. Titles of world of fantasy, You waited too long, Danger she’s a stranger, Come back. they had the backing of Curtis Mayfield
Saw them in concert back then! One of the things negativelyvaffecting the music is the lack of in-person concerts. The whole adventure of attending a live concert with an entire stadium of your peers can't be described. It's the sharing of positive. energy.
Other good songs by them: Danger She's a Stranger, You Waited Too Long, It's a World of Fantasy, Don't Waste Your time. These songs not as well known as Ooh Child, but they are fire.
Hey little Brother don't BEAT Yourself up im certain you heard it in passing but you were occupied at the time just a reminder don't change the old for the new im sure no matter what you're heart is true and the same bless you little Brother Stay well 🙏 RESPECT
Check 1975's From Us To You by the "Stairsteps". Only four of the them then. Then anything by bass player brother Kenny (keni?) Burke. In the 1960s they were a Curtis Mayfield production.
Great song! Having been a teenager in the 70's I loved and still love the old classics. Please give Mother's Finest a try. They were a band from Rockmart Georgia which is in the county that I live in and right down the road from me. I don't think you'll be sorry to hear this group.
Always liked this song. Many artists have covered it. You might like a song by Take 6 called The Biggest Part of Me. Incredible vocals. I don’t know if it would be considered gospel music. I’m not very religious myself but it’s an amazing song.
I agree. The 70s was way too good for us. Based on what the next generation created on the heels of the 70s and 80s, we definitely, for the most part, don't deserve it.
A great song to go cruising with the windows down and the sun setting…

I've never heard this song without the chills. Young pre teen to now61 year old they get the job done.
I was 8 and a half when this song came out and I have always loved it. It is one of those songs that every person on the planet needs to hear.
I used to sing this song to my kids when they were little now they sing it to their kids, beautiful!
Am I the only one who tears up when listening to this beautiful song? The hopefulness in the face of oppression just leaves me broken.
Thanks for keeping great music alive!

This is my go to feel good song. You cannot feel bad after hearing this classic
I was 13 when this came out. I really love it, it always made me feel good.
Excellent stereo mixing btw, you couldn't hear that on a transistor radio!
They are called the 5 stairsteps because when they stood together they looked like stairsteps because of the height of all of them ✌️
Fantastic song.
Didn't remember the group, but I sure remembered the song. Nice blast from the past.
Always loved this song and group. one of the most underrated singing groups of the era.
Keni Burke went on to become a successful songwriter/producer/recording R&B in the 1980s and beyond. His biggest hit titled: Risin' To The Top.
Always loved this track takes me right back to "boys in the hood"…
What a great song 🎵😊🎶

Another family band to check out-the Cowsills-had an extremely popular song and funny performance video for the song Hair!
Brings back memories of my childhood
Smooth. Another classic!

Smooooooth
May be the most-perfect soul song ever recorded.
0:00 dude I can’t wait to see your dances and you feel good love for life come through in this one😂🎉❤
You should react them performing this on Soul Train...very groovy.

Love. The best anti-depression track.

I was pretty young when this came out. No idea who it was, just music I was hearing on top 40 am radio.
Get It Live on the MIDNIGHT SPECIAL 😆😂🤣🙏🌟💯 RESPECT LITTLE BRO
Beautiful!
It was used in the movie over the edge
Beautiful, soulful track. Only found out the actual lyric recently, doesn't matter, close enough, didn't detract from my enjoyment. 😊❤
Biz, you're choosing great songs, I love this music 😊❤ thanks

Great song.I think Hall and Oates covered it?
Think of Boyz n the hood
