In Japanese arts break balance is called Atemi. Very important for grapple arts.. This Silat is deadly effective, super controlled and fluid. Beautiful techniques sir
curtrod yep that's right, strikes used as openers to other techniques. Looseners is another term . Japanese jujutsu uses atemi strikes to break the posture...
@@Psilocybiant "Kuzushi is very often thought of as simply pushing or pulling. At more advanced levels however it is much more than that. For example, kuzushi can also be achieved by breaking the opponent's rhythm, fake attacks, strikes, changes of body position or grip, kiai (a shout), or a sudden change in speed or tempo. A critical element in kuzushi is that it should disrupt more than the body. Kuzushi is very much a mental thing. Kuzushi should always disrupt the opponent's concentration, resulting in a momentary opportunity for an attack...Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo, made the principle of kuzushi one of the fundamental elements of Judo, distinguishing it from old schools of jujitsu. The principle of kuzushi is still considered to be one of his major contributions to the study of martial arts." Judoinfo.com, yep, atemi could cause off-balancing or lead to it, I'm not sure if it's the same as 'breaking one's structure' as in Silat, Michael Echanis (US Special Forces) of Hwarang Do in his knife self-defense book said to avoid the weapon, stabilize the weapon, break the opponent's base, then disarm, and Yang Jwing-ming, scholar of Chinese styles and Qinna (grandfather of jujitsu) expert said 'counter strikes with throws or takedowns, counter throws or takedowns with Qinna (locking, or seizing and holding, including sealing blood vessels and pressure point strikes), and counter Qinna with striking, which could be with any part of the body, that is to say 'atemi' in Japanese 😁
curtrod interesting, thank you for the lesson. Yea my limited understand from jujitsu was that atemi strikes are used to create a reaction for a follow up technique. Cheers
Remarkable! I love Pentjak Silat and this system is just the type of precise, scientific leverage based art that I love. That's why I'm always trying to gain a deep understanding . Truly awesome!
Great movement and flow. Beautiful to watch. Had the pleasure to experience your seminars twice and will come back soon! Music in the background is nice too
Two objects can not occupy the same space at the same time. Breaking his structure allows the you to "take" the opponents space and thus overthrow him. Physics!
the video is for us (at least me) amateur to understand the principle of the moves. I'm sure when we already practice it often enough, the move will come naturally and reflexively, thus become useful in a real life situation.
I used to train in Pukulan Cimande Pusaka Pencak Silat, I loved it, train Krav Maga these days but if I were to find a silat club local I would certainly return.
Imagine how many years would it take to achieve that kind of movement? did you see the flow? So smooth, I'm a silat practitioner myself, been doing it for almost 8 years and my movements on applying the 'buah' are not even close to master Maul!
@Ken Jay Don't know much about silat, but it looks like it was tailored with the blade in mind, even in their striking style. Would that be somewhat right? Definitely different applications than taichi, which is closer the grappling. See, your comment about hardness is what I was referring to with my jab at taichi classes :D Taichi is supposed to include hard too, it's the art of extremes, from relaxed to tensed, but this part is almost never seen in classes, and barely known by teachers. Silat seems more preserved and balanced in its current state, hopefully it stays that way!
Hi! Congratulations! Me has cambiado la perspectiva del arte marcial. Soy de Morelia, Michoacán. México. Hay alguien que te represente en territorio mexicano?
Attacking structure is a fairly new concept Ive only recently started working on. It makes the difference and is probably the most important aspect that we can work on.
Very good....Just wish his vids would show vs jabs n crosses n hooks not lunge stab fake punches...even if opponent freeze framed in time...spatial relationships r way diff in reality...still a very skilled guy
you just follow through, you dont need to catch the jab. the Important part is the body. if you have cultivated some internal teaching, then you can consciously use the natural biomechanics and anotomy of the body and with that you can manipulate the tensed body Part of your opponent through Touching like he demonstrates
it was asked if I could only study 1 style for rest of my life I picked this but am curious about how you would deal with a professional Muay Thai fighter 🤔? 🙏
I am so curious about the skill demonstrated at 1:50 where you stay in a frontal stance unbalancing the opponent move while barely touching him? That action and it's effect look very similar to taichichuan incorporated into silat.
All martial art using the same principle. Breaking opponent structure by either, leverage, balance, shifting weight, body structure...etc. It's how you apply it on pressure environment
What style of Silat is this? There are many videos claiming Silat but they look nothing like this. Many of have seen show practitioners in a near constant dance like motion and their strikes do not resemble anywhere this level of purpose or practicality.
actually silat was secret martial art, just taught in family member, all secret tecniques pass down to selected students. Silat has many styles, but.. for the secret of the conditional body, etc.., it depends on a grand master... open secret or not

Hanya saja maul merangkumnya menjadi praktis agar lebih mudah dipahami western people

KasaiFilms english please .. . There were a few who study physics
bullshit, not physics.Do you think when someone want to break your face will stand with his arm pointed and wait for you to "take" him??
+Dario You forgot one thing that there is a so called Momentum..
the video is for us (at least me) amateur to understand the principle of the moves. I'm sure when we already practice it often enough, the move will come naturally and reflexively, thus become useful in a real life situation.

Damn, this is better taichi than can be found in most taichi classes :D I know, it's silat, but there are so many common principles!
@Ken Jay Don't know much about silat, but it looks like it was tailored with the blade in mind, even in their striking style. Would that be somewhat right? Definitely different applications than taichi, which is closer the grappling.

Muay Thai more fighting, Silat more self defense. Muay Thai should win if both style fight
Mantap guru maul
Silat is real self defense
I am so curious about the skill demonstrated at 1:50 where you stay in a frontal stance unbalancing the opponent move while barely touching him? That action and it's effect look very similar to taichichuan incorporated into silat.
