    decades ago I told my friend to give me a front kick while I defend with my palm. needless to say, it hurts him. Since then I kind of learn what Maui is talking about tensing your body to protects from kicks, punch, etc. another time, I trained with my tkd friend and he told me that he has become stronger and faster than the last time we met. he was right. so instinctively I protect myself with my elbows close to my body. He scolded me because he felt he's in-steps getting swollen. Not sure if it healed before his tkd tournaments in Korea. I've learned that you don't even have to throw a single punch or kicks if someone wanna attack you. It's like, the bigger they are the bigger their leg will be swollen. lol :p

      Its almost a lost art actually, which many thinks are a myth or impractical, where silat, karate, muay thai practitioners of really old ways of teaching have defensive blocks which hurt the attacker. Practically just blocking attacks, and your attacker stops attacking u because their limbs were in pain, numb or swollen, and the defender just walks away safe without throwing a single punch or kick, just defensive blocks.

    • @nashk935
      @nashk935 4 года назад +9

      I agreed. This is kind of the lost art. I think a lot of Silat nowaday missing this part. I think this is the essence in all silat no matter styles.
      But this essence is lost in most part in Malay world. Somehow, borneo still preseve it well.
      I am the one who studied Silat long time ago and condemned it somewhile ago.
      But now, i know. This is what missing. And Silat prationer with this essence, is the true Silat warrior.

      @@nashk935 There are still old style Silat in West and South Sumatra. I guess some native Jakartans, the Betawi people still learn them. Also Sundanese, people of West Java still practice them. Search for Indonesian Kuntau. The art is still well spread, but not many learns it. Probably because we are in a considerably peaceful time. That and modernization, and also the lack of communication skills to pass on the art also make the art not being able to be passed on to nee generations. But, I guess The Raid movies brought back interest in the art. Hopefully.

    This is intended to connect a little before the the the opponents striking limb is fully extended and held rigid for contact, preferably closer to but below the knee/elbow, palm heal oriented to let the impact force transfer through your arm to shoulder and into your hips- it's a check kick with your hands or a Bas Rutten palm strike.

As my Silat master taught me, There are no Blocks in Silat, only strikes to improve your ability or angle to finish the fight. No Exceptions.

      from all ur comments, it is easy to see that u literally have not much idea about blade fighting and or any fighting at all. have u ever attended one of his seminars? nope, because otherwise u wouldnt post any comment like this. and even if u were invited to join for free somehwere close to u, u know and i know that you would not go, cause u wouldnt have the balls to.
      so why are u commenting only insults and negativity? u envy him because u are nobody and no skills? or all u can is only insults and hatred and no skills? keyboard pseudo warrior?

Those Tarekan even breaks hard woods and bend metals that hits the body/limbs when done right. Bones will fracture including shins.

      If the fulcrum is compromised a lever cannot generate power.
      Also, the old impact conditioning systems can be very effective like real Muay Thai and old school Karate are 2 systems that had very good body conditioning systems of acclimatization to forceful impact over time that produced significant effects.
