    How does he achieve the low F?

      You can see the player next to him seems to play the F and possibly the preceding Bb. You can extend the 3rd tuning slide to make it sit flatter and then lip it into place. Even on a natural horn in Eb, a good player can play the low F open by lipping it down.

      usually 1+2+3 like f sharp but keep it lower with the lips. i use only 1st, rest is done with the lips on this instrument.

      Or, someone plays it by taking out their F-crook and replacing it with a B flat crook for the low F.

      ​@@jonathanschlee2692 Watch the Roland Berger rendition of this solo on this channel. If you look closely, the 4th hornist, Hans Fischer, does not have an F-crook in for the low F.
