Assistant:Michael Stuckler 1 horn: Ronald Janezic 2 horn: Jan Jankovic 3 horn: Wolfgang Vladar 4 horn: Wolfgang Tomboeck 5 horn: Josef Reif 7 horn: Sebastian Mayr
It’s written fortissimo in the score and it’s a German trombone section; it’s not very out of character at all, and many other orchestras play it that loud. It’s supposed to be an epic bass drop with that cool brass tinge.
Yes, by American park band trumpet standards they are. They also have some body of tone that the piston park band instruments simply don't have. For me, it's 'not 'out of tune' enough to district from the overall effect of the entire passage. Besides, it should should like it's a struggle to play up there, not a picnic.
Great Vienna Horn sound but the tempo is wayyyyyy too slow. This is a piece that if you don't move it along becomes turgid (as here). Tsk. Tsk. Try Karajan who knows what he's doing.......................
Don't like this that much. Sure, it's brilliant, but the tempo is to fast for my taste, the brass sound is too sharp. That's not the Alpensinfonie I know
Unbelievable.! All ten playing perfectly.. Best ensemble. Trust me, I've heard 'em all. I'm 79. Oct. 16, 2023. St. Joseph, MO, USA
My favorite music of this composer.
From sunrise to sunset a very, very impressive virtual mountain climbing tour with splendoring summit music. 🏔️
Fantastic! Those Viennese horns are just magnificent!
What a horn section!!!Vienna horn love it,sound, overtones just beautiful
Unparalleled anywhere else. The Berlin Phil. horns sound like they're playing with tweezers in comparison.
@@barryguerrero6480 they are great anyway
the sound of Ronald JAnezic and Josef Reif is the f... beasty
absolutely yes, even Josef Reif's sound in Mahler 7 is solid and fantastic; the idea of sound that I have in my head
The most infamous out of tune trumpet can be found In Karajan’s recording of Sinfonia Domestic such things don’t bother the great maestro !
This is real fine music in it's complexity! Bravo to the composer and orchestra!

The real question is how can the horns manage to lack any warmth or sense of phrase in this piece?
@@opianoemsi2894Strauss has nothing to do with the arrogance of the Wiener Phil 🙄

Good thing nobody was in the audience to listen... cause that tuning was ROUGH in the trumpet section xD
Not at all.
@@gddecker You must be deaf if you didn’t hear the intonation issues in the trumpet section.
thank you Brady. Maybe you should become a critic for the Podunk Herald now.
No point in denying it or trying to gloss over it as inconsequential. It's there, it was less than the players own standards one would assume.
Who is this brilliant conductor?
Philippe JORDAN
Ein klarer Fall für das Arbeitsinspektorat. So etwas ohne Gehörschutz ist grob fahrlässig
Why do vienna horns have so much more power than double horns? Is it just all to do with the bell flare and bell itself?
Who is the conductor please?
Philippe Jordan
Wiener horn ❤
Thank you for the video 🙏
The trumpets are really out of tune 🤔
Play at 0:34. Ouch!

Who cares!
@@stevieb6368 My ears do! As well as my taste. And my wallet, if I'd paid to hear this live...!
They’re just out of tune here in the first section. No need to make excuses for them. They were in tune in the latter section, so they know how.
No audience?
Who is conducting?
Philippe Jordan.
not good. Me no likey. Complete lack of transparence, trumpets out of tune, horns dominated by the tutti.
what?? no male harp player?????
i'm writing the U.N. !!
(Spectacular playing by the way)
I'm sorta disappointed. I hardly heard the Vienna horns through the screeching strings.

Bernard Haitink used to direct with this tempo. Btw, if you become turgid listening to this Vienna horn playing, it's only a good thing!

Has there been a female in the Vienna horn section ever?
Probably one of the more stale and emotionless performances ive heard…. Trumpet…. Why…..
Because it's far too slow Colin.
WTF!?!?!?! THIS IS VIENNA!!!!!!!! You need your ears CHECKED BIG TIME.
Surprisingly bad, can't compare with bhoth Bychkov and Nelson's performance with the Berlin phil
Horns sometimes play in american style....😔
Or better, american horns play in Viennese style?
What's the American style?
There are practically only men in the orchestra. This is a little strange.

Stop russia - stop war! Stop war - stop terror!

Yes, Zelenscky should be the head of NATO too
Terrible conductor!
