+orestes samolis Not for me! !980-1985 for me are the best years, in the UK we had the best bands in the world in those years. and 1984 was the best year of all.
I think 1984 was the best year of the 80's. I fell in love for the first time, was dumped and then lost my virginity all in the same year. I probably cried to half these songs during that year. Good thing though, my first love from 30 years ago, I wouldn't be attracted to as a person today.
You have some years that are the best in movies, some in TV, some in music, and some in video games. 1984 was the best year in all of those categories. There will never be another year like it.
In 1984, we took a trip to the US for the first time... It was beautiful. Not only the music, but the memories. We went to Honolulu, SanFo, L.A., D.C., NY, back to L.A., Honolulu, and back home. L.A. and Honolulu ROCKED. Ah, the 1980s. Will we get another era like it?
1984 is my first favorite year of the 1980's. I was born on September 16th. That year was in the middle of The Cold War & Ronald Regan reign as the 40th President of the United States.
I was 9 yrs old & remember all of these songs. Was jamming out to them on vinyl (thanks to my mom) & still have most of the vinyl. I remember the movies too. I'll never forget me & my brother going to the theater to see Nightmare on Elm Street. The 80s were the best!
Fuck. I'm so nostalgic it's hard to breath. As far as tech and music idc what anyone says, the eighties were the golden years of our great country. That decade will always hold a special place in my heart. What a great time to be alive and young.
I was 16, doing my final year of school (I started young and skipped a year) and I was listening to 'alternative' music for the most part- The Jam and Style Council, Tears for Fears, The Specials and mostly UK stuff- but this commercial stuff was everywhere and it's nice hearing SOME of it again! You forget how great Madonna was in the 80s. Wow! Only just remembered I saw Julian Lennon live that year....or was that 1985....and he was very good too. By then I'd also seen Culture Club, The Eurythmics, Simple Minds, and David Bowie live, with tickets costing about $30!

my parents are so lucky to have been teens/young adults in the 1980s. the aesthetics are splendid, a huge chunk of my music taste is from the 1980s and i go thrifting to specifically look for clothes from the 1980s. the aesthetics are one of a kind.
Ahhh yes, the year of my initial existence to this earth...December 1984. Proud to be born in the later days of 1 9 8 4. One song they forgot to mention that would have completed this great reminisce; U2's "Pride (In the Name of Love)" from their 1984 album, "The Unforgettable Fire." Great video of '84 either ways!
I was about 8 years old didn't pay to much attention to music I was more about the videogames....but no wonder why my 14 year old teen loves 80s music is really an awesome music.
leviathan Behemot I was a 13 yr old girl, and I never played a single video game back then.. couldn't see the appeal of them.at all.. but the music.. it DEFINITELY DEFINED the era for me, best year of my life.
that era we got all the classics on video games, the ones that break thru to this video game digital era. i so glad i was part of that time, live is good ....
Started to watch these Remember 80's videos b/c I was getting a nostalgia high of 'The NeverEnding Story' so I was surprised it was not included. Great video all together! Love all comments too!!
There were so many amazing albums out in 1984. Purple Rain by Prince Bruce Springsteen, Born in the USA, Cyndi Lauper, She's So Unusual album Footloose sound track. ZZ Top, Eliminator Van Halen 1984 Album Huey Lewis Sports Album Bryan Adams Reckless album
I listen to this with a mixed reaction of nostalgia and melancholy bcos I absolutely love to hear songs from this period but certain music is attached to certain memories many of which are people who sadly are no longer around 🥲.
I was 19, definitely one of best years if not the best of my life. Got my first job, car,... Apple PC, WWF was big, the Christmas songs for starving Africa, etc... ATVs came into being
I think 84 and 85 where's the best time in my life! everything was totally awesome! then everything went to shit for me! it was the best time in my life for my childhood. then 86 foster care. then I don't remember much after that. I was too busy trying to be a grown up at age 10. only if I had a DeLorean with the flex capacitor!
Senior year. Motor head in my 77 Trans Am wearing parachute pants, fishnet muscle shirt, and sporting an epic mullet. Lost the mullet in 85 when I joined the Navy.
The year I graduated high school in one of the most run down cities in America with little to no chance of getting out from under the poverty and gloomy streets of North Minneapolis . . I'm not special but I am one of millions.
I find it interesting how people hate today's music for using too much synth and electronic beats, yet 80% of these songs use the same methods...don't get me wrong I love 80s music but it's just interesting to note
+Gold Dream I wouldn't say back then 80% of singles/albums were synth+ electronic beats, I'd say 60 percent is more accurate- and yea some of today use same methods but there were more catchy singles+albums back then..... I agree 80's were awesome :-]
+Denise your right! What ever happened to rock and alternative music. Heck even some country went mainstream back in the 90s. Country hasn't been mainstream for about 10 years and rock and alternative for 5 years. Just my observation.
yeah great artlist too like madonna and new education and phil collins and linoul richie and prince and the list goes on lol but the sad thing we lost 4 great singer great artist and great song writer and last but lease 4 great heros
yes true, but the songs peaked in 1985. yes they were released in late '84 but by the time they became popular, it was 1985, making it songs for 1985. "Born In The U.S.A." album was released in 1984, Dancing In The Dark & Glory Days were summer songs, but when the next single was released, it was late in the year and it carried into '85. Also, look up the Billboard Top 100 songs of 1985 and u will find these songs there. we go by U.S. releases, not the U.K., Australia or even in China.
There will never be another decade like the 80s
good
Exactly my point
1984 is probably the best year in the 1980s.
I agree!!!
Lol i didnt live through the 80s, but music wise I like 1986. Not sure event wise
Jayden Mclean with the exception of the murder of the greatest singer of all time it probably was.
I was 12 and I remember most of this.
Indeed it was....my graduation class in Garden Grove...lol
Yes it was.
Good memories. I was 10 yrs old and everything was right in the world. No worries.
1984 sounds like a great year for music
I never said the best did I!?
+orestes samolis Not for me! !980-1985 for me are the best years, in the UK we had the best bands in the world in those years. and 1984 was the best year of all.
1984 was a very good year for movies and music!

My@@albertgrimaud7550 1984 is my first favorite year of the 1980's & I was born too.
Oh yes movies like Purple Rain, The Terminator plus when Michael Jackson won 8 Grammys for his Thriller album, etc
I think 1984 was the best year of the 80's. I fell in love for the first time, was dumped and then lost my virginity all in the same year. I probably cried to half these songs during that year. Good thing though, my first love from 30 years ago, I wouldn't be attracted to as a person today.

It was my last year on school. Was a great time really...
i was 12 in 84, it was awesome, a magic time.
In 1972 I came to school. Seems to me as if it is a hundred years ago...
Michael Schmidt what do you mean you "came to school"?
VULTUSPRIME I was 12 and I agree. I remember the music was techno inspired and the times were simple.
80's the BEST.
Yes is the best
You have some years that are the best in movies, some in TV, some in music, and some in video games. 1984 was the best year in all of those categories. There will never be another year like it.
I was 12 years old in 84. Now I’m 45 wow. Where has that time gone?
Man you old just kidding that's still young my mom is pushing 60 and still looks young.. it's been a incredible ride. Times has change big time
I was a infant in 84. Now I'm 39 & next year I'll be 40. Time files, things change & before you know it's tomorrow.
I'm afraid not.
If there was a way back,
I would already be there.
Man just look at the difference between then and now. So sad the way things are now!!!!
Change for the worst too
1984 is my first favorite year of the 1980's. I was born on September 16th. That year was in the middle of The Cold War & Ronald Regan reign as the 40th President of the United States.
The best year of 1980s by far!
That is my favorite year because it has Madonna, Punky Brewster, relax don't do it song, my favorite 80s Rock music, and it has dance movie
I was 9 yrs old & remember all of these songs. Was jamming out to them on vinyl (thanks to my mom) & still have most of the vinyl. I remember the movies too. I'll never forget me & my brother going to the theater to see Nightmare on Elm Street. The 80s were the best!
If only George Orwell imagined this is what 1984 would look like
He would have called the book 2017 instead and would have been a bit closer on his predictions. Excellent book though...
I was 9 and it still is my most favorite time. The music the movies etc.
Fuck. I'm so nostalgic it's hard to breath. As far as tech and music idc what anyone says, the eighties were the golden years of our great country. That decade will always hold a special place in my heart. What a great time to be alive and young.
nostalgic 80's guy Agreed 1000 percent
Best year in pop culture. Ever.
The best times of all. I miss these days so much. The world was so much simpler. 😓 I was eighteen.
i was born in '94 but i enjoy all these videos , getting to see how times were in the 80's and early to mid 90's good stuff
I was 16, doing my final year of school (I started young and skipped a year) and I was listening to 'alternative' music for the most part- The Jam and Style Council, Tears for Fears, The Specials and mostly UK stuff- but this commercial stuff was everywhere and it's nice hearing SOME of it again! yuck
I love music from 1984
To be a teenager in the 80s with no internet was the best time for any generation! Will never be bettered
1980s pop music > 2010s pop music. Fact.
1980 music> 2010 not music at all. to be music it has to have musical instruments and people to play them. fact.
Very true. 80s music 4ever. Today's "music" sucks!!!
I was 9, but had teenaged siblings, so I got to enjoy all these great songs, shows and films. The perks of being the youngest. :)
I was born on September 16th in my first favorite year of the 1980's
I was 13. I remember most of this stuff, especially the music.
congrats
my parents are so lucky to have been teens/young adults in the 1980s. the aesthetics are splendid, a huge chunk of my music taste is from the 1980s and i go thrifting to specifically look for clothes from the 1980s. the aesthetics are one of a kind.

I was too busy trying to be a grown up at age 10. only if I had a DeLorean with the flex capacitor!

The year I graduated high school in one of the most run down cities in America with little to no chance of getting out from under the poverty and gloomy streets of North Minneapolis . . I'm not special but I am one of millions.

I think the problem is is that there's TOO much EDM today and not enough variety, compared to the 80s and 90s decades.
Denise Exactly Denise, Where you from?
+Denise your right! What ever happened to rock and alternative music. Heck even some country went mainstream back in the 90s. Country hasn't been mainstream for about 10 years and rock and alternative for 5 years. Just my observation.
