I used to use these on regular basis in the seventies when I went potholing and exploring old leadmines I charged mine up with a car battery charger set at 6 volts with a old electric fire element as a resistor. Being from Derbyshire the lamps were easily got hold of. Splitting hairs on pronunciation Oldham is as the Lancashire town and not " old ham ". Cheers Grahame
these Oldham lamps were designed from the US version the Koehler wheat light these are very good lights to have my grandfather was a coal miner in the 1950s and 60s he passed down his Koehler lights to me they still work just have to keep water in them to keep the cells alive

Oldham batteries were famous., interesting thing is that they were actually made in Denton not Oldham 😁.
