Note for those that are thinking the remote is not working because the LED light does not come on after inserting the battery - it needs to be paired via bluetooth with your camera or it won't light up! This drove me nuts for a while before watching this video - thanks JSntax Media for this easy to follow tutorial!
I took the gamble as well after reading the reviews and I'm happy to report this remote works for the Sony α6700 as well. Just make sure you have turned on "Bluetooth Function", "Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl", and then pair the remote to the camera. I also mapped the movie record button to another function, so I just leave it Still mode like J has done.
Great video. Your experience of the JJC remote pretty much mirrors mine, and I'd recommend the JJC over the official one without any hesitation. I just want to point out something about that battery charger you showed. You'll see that it only has 2 pins, and the official one has 3 pins. What this means is that the 3rd party charger will just supply power to the battery blindly without doing things like taking measurements of the battery's internal temperature. Will a charger with only 2 pins charge your battery just fine? Yes, until it doesn't. Godox had the exact same problem. Their old batteries only had 2 pins, and there were lots of reports of bulging batteries, and you can find them online. And in their latest generation of flash units, they introduced a new battery with 4 pins. Are the official batteries and chargers overpriced? Yes. But batteries/chargers are one area I wouldn't skimp on. Unlike a cheap Bluetooth remote, which is unlikely to cause any damage to anything, cheap batteries and chargers can potentially damage the camera or even burn down my house. I think it makes sense not to cheap out on batteries and chargers, especially after you've spent thousands of dollars the camera/lens, at least for more peace of mind.
Wow I never thought I needed this, but after your demo I might have to order. Love the record indicator and zoom. I already use the app for a long exposure shutter, but this might be a more convenient option. Thanks for the tip! Also love how you remapped your record button on the a7c, smart was to gain another button
Ya, you can actually toggle between still and image mode to get an EXTRA custom button (for A7C record button). I love this and for taking pictures, it's even better. I've trying to improve my thumbnails by taking more photos rather than frame captures. The EASE OF USE without having to do a pairing process (no need to re-sync the BT every time you bootup your camera) makes video production a BREEZE!
Well spoken, great budget alternatives that you're showcasing here. I just got my A7C a couple weeks back as well so thanks for sharing some accessories that will help video making easier 👍
Thanks so much for this video - it's been super helpful and has saved me a tonne of money (by not purchasing something a lot more expensive). I've just ordered it now - thanks!!
I bought it on Lazada for my ZV1 together with the grip for 33 USD. Before I bought it, I tried out the Imaging App from Sony and it is really bothersome to use it. And yes I noticed the same behavior with the shutter button. Thanks for clearing this up. Otherwise great little gadget that works well
A few questions: 1) Can the remote's C1 button be changed to 'video playback' and then you press the middle button and it plays the video? Because it is great that you can record from afar but then to review what you shot you would have to walk all the way back to the camera right? 2) If so, can the 'W' and 'T' buttons be used in video playback mode to scroll through previous recorded video? 3) Does the AF-On button on the remote follow what is mapped on the camera? So if I mapped the AF-On to change white balance for example, would pressing the AF-On on the remote do the same thing? 4) Similar to question 2. Does the 'W' and 'T' work as a scroller/selector? Eg, I map C1 button to ISO, then when pressed, does the W and T buttons enable you to select your ISO number? Thanks for making this video, I just wanted to clarify these few points.
Thanks for sharing! Having a bluetooth remote is really helpful specially for people like me that need 10 takes to deliver a single line 😂😂😂. Might check that third party battery as well! Cheers eh!
@jsyntaxmedia Hi! I was searching a delete function. I see that no one reviews it but is much needed /at least for me/. I saw that kind of function only on RC for infrared sensor cameras. I am about to buy a Sony ZVE 10. Can you recommend me a remote control with delete function?
Hello, I have 4 cameras in Sony A7III and A7CII models. And I want to start and stop recording video for all of these cameras at the same time. Does anyone know a solution for this? Please help...
For my A7C the range on the JJC remote is poor, only about 4 foot when in front for self portraits. Does anyone know if the Sony remote has this issue?
Your description says about compatibility with Sony A7S III . On Amazon and many other sites I was not able to conform compatibility with A7S III. Have you tried this remote with A7S III yourself?
do you know the max distance from which it works? Does it give you the red light ONLY when the camera is successfully recording, or is it just red when you press the record button. I ask because what if you press it (properly and everything) but it doesn't register/is out of range/some interference. Does the red light just not light up? Thanks!
do i need to pair every time the camera turn off? or is it automaticly connected when i turn it on when previously pair?. i do product photograpy, 20-50 products a day. so i only need the shutter button, thank you. my camera is Sony A6400
@@jsyntaxmedia thank you for your reply, I already purchased it an hour ago... 🙏🙏 Awesome review, even if i need to re-pairing it every time the camera turned off I'll still buy it... Thanks!
Got the JJC remote... did not work. Returned, got replacement. Did pair but was extremely unreliable. Returned it for refund and got the Sony one... This remote might be a good alternative if you can get one that actually works.
Hi. Nice video. Does this remote start the interval shooting function? I like to take multiple trophy shots with fish I catch so need to be able to set the focus with half press once I am in position then start interval shooting with full press. Is this possible with this remote!?
i bought one - I was able to pair it, but the shutter button didn't work the camera shutter. My camera said the device was paired, but no shutter. I have a Sony A1 - I thought it said it was compatible...but it didn't work...I ordered the Sony remote
Hi mate, this video was super useful. I've got the a7C and the JJC. Everything is working, but the zoom is not working for me. I just selected the zoom setting as "ClearImage Zoom" but it is not working. I've tried with several lenses (the 28-60 zoom kit lens, the 50mm 1.8, and the 35mm 1.8) with no results. Any idea on how to fix this? Cheers!
Hey JSyntax im mostly in the market for one of these for photography. If i were to hold the shutter button down will it continually fire out photos, if the shooting mode is on hi+?
If you’re in movie mode, does record (or in your case AWB lock) gets triggered with half-press? Mine is behaving that way and it is causing a lot of accidental video records.
Turns out activating Start Recording with Shutter Button and using the remote in Still mode does the job. But for me, half-press still activates recording when the remote is in Movie mode.
@@jsyntaxmedia do you know how to take pictures with it? Every time I click the shutter button, it takes a video instead of a photo even when I have it on photo mode. Thank you!
It is not the same quality than the sony. People should read the reviews from real users before to buy. The cheap stuff like that most of the time does not have good battery contact.
Do you notice whether it is disconnecting after 10 seconds and you need to press a button twice to register? I have a similar remote which is not LLC which I guess has a battery save mode that disconnects when you are not recording.

straight away ordered this after you say it was a good investment. tq
Great video. Thank you, the remote is really cheap here in Thailand. On lazada that's the asian version of Amazon it's between 20 and 30 USD.

absoutely!
Thanks for this. I didn't realize using the app disables eye auto focus. That's just dumb, Sony.
I'm glad there's such a remote, I hate Sony and their crappy app.

had no issues more than 4 ft, sry to hear
This JJC remote worked awesome with my a7C, but now it won't pair with my FX30 no matter what. Not sure what is going on.

Hi, my last question: the JJC is always ON? (there is not switch OFF button?). Thanks!
Hmm yes you it's turn on with activation of any button

sry i cant confirm max distance, i film usually in a small room, but imagine Bluetooth is around 30 ft.

Hi.
What zoom speeds do you have? Slow, fast, etc... (i have 18-105 sony with motorized zoom)
it can not do Focus stack unlike Sony RMTP1BT Wireless Remote Commander
The rest of function is fine.
