- Well, last time it happened was in Pakistan and I really didn’t think about it anymore until I was suddenly stopped. This dragged my day out quite a bit and I am riding in the dark again and have to be so careful not to hit a pothole. Udaipur left quite the impression and I had a fantastic time, riding, exploring and just joking around with good people here in India. But what about that guy at the beginning? He seemed a little too keen on eve…better keep her locked 🔐 up at all times!

@@修身齐家看世界 hi there from India
To everyone who is confused,
Bikes are not allowed on the expressways(6-8 lanes, access controlled highways) because 90% of the bikes sold in India are below 150CC(10HP) and it's not safe for them to cruise on those roads along with fast moving cars and trucks.
For you guys bikes are atleast 650CC on 2 wheels but that's not the case with India.
They can cruise easily on highways as they are less congested these days after the cars and trucks were shifted to expressways. Although I've seen superbikes on Delhi-Agra expressway.
Because it's allowed there with a toll paying. Bikes are allowed also in Lucknow Agra expressway with a toll of 160 INR or something like that
We get why _small bikes_ can't be on the highways. That's the same in the US too. That's the same just about everywhere. The trick is you allow people on faster bikes. It's real simple. The idea that a motorcycle can't keep up with a car is ludicrous. It's OK, India just gets added to my no travel list. I don't want to have to deal with crazy surface streets just to get from A to B all the time. Just doesn't seem fun.
@@TheOnceAndFutureDoug You didn't read the whole comment, did you?
Only the expressways don't allow the bikes on it(some expressways do),Bikers can always use Highways plus they are also less congested now because majority of the cars, trucks and busses have shifted to the expressways. For reference you can watch Itchy boots or Wildlens by Abrar.
and If you have decided to not come here then who am I to force you to do so, have a safe journey wherever you go.😊😊
In US people don't have low cc bikes, i m from India i ride low cc bikes and I know those bikes can't keep up with cars.
I think they are considering allowing 350cc and above bikes.
Two wheelers are not allowed on expressways in India . Two wheelers are allowed on national highway
That’s soo weird being a 2 wheeler dominated country.
@@lingojam5346 1.4 b people man. even though bike dominated but numbers of cars here are bigger than most countries population
@@lingojam5346 Nope, the expressways have high speed limit, although not as large as Autobahn in germany which have like no limit at all, yet for the safety of 2wheelers, it is important. Besides they are allowed on the National Highways
@@lingojam5346 that's becuz we have some Chapri (Stunt) bikers going 200km/hr for show off making dangerous for both 4 Wheeler...cuz if something happen blame will fall on other driver... Making horrible experience...
@@lingojam5346The ban/restriction was imposed with a reason. Smaller capacity commuter bikes (100-150cc) which make 60-70% of motorcycle sales in our country are actually slow moving and cannot keep up with the traffic on these highways/expressways. And most of the two wheeler owner drive recklessly
The National Highways are allowed to have Bike Riders. But on Expressways 2 wheelers are not allowed for their own safety as they have a higher speed limit then the Highways
ruclips.net/video/I1ocA3CPTEI/видео.html
I have been to Germany let me tell you that the express ways they have r simply fantastic and they allow two wheelers on that it's very normal in Germany to drive at the speed of 120 and above
@@amduser86 2-wheelers aren't allowed cause majority of bike riders in India have small cc bikes, like commuter bikes, which anyway won't go above 100kmph and also their tendency to not stick to one lane, which causes problems to cars and others who tend to go faster. More bikes on such expressways mean more accident BECAUSE of them. it's not like they are discriminating cause you don't have a car, its cause your bike just wont go fast enough.
@@amduser86 Oh god how come westerns always want to find ways to trash india. Get a job dumbo. And yes m well aware that the autobahn has no speed limit
The ban on motorcycles on the expressway is simply nonsensical. There should be a provision stating that motorcycles with more than 650 cc are permitted on the expressway, as they can easily match the speed of any vehicle on this type of roadway.
Marc, I have that electric motorcycle you met enroute, that is Revolt RV400, it's my primary motorcycle. I covered 48000 kms in last 14 months. Electric motorcycles are really cool things. Some expressways motorcycles are allowed with a toll, but at maximum expressways they are not. It's for the safety reason. In India's first sea bridge, Atal setu, which is at Mumbai also a motorcycle free one. You will find more electric motorcycles and scooters enroute and that's cool.
Looked like a cool bike 🙌🏼
2 wheelers are not allowed on many new expressways as maximum acccidents in india happens due to rush driving of moterbikes, For you it must be frustating but for goverment and truck drivers it's a big help.
Alright, still annoying 🫢
On the Indian version of Google Maps, there is an option to choose Bike Mode. Check if that option appears for you while selecting a route. If you do that, Google won't suggest you routes where bikes are banned.

I'm from India and I love EVs and when I heard that Royal enfield and Ola electric where making electric adventure bikes I thought does any one done this before and then I found your channel 6 months ago 😊
Fantastic. Got hooked in Turkey and haven't missed a video yet. Great trip Marc.
I have to say that I admire you for two reasons:
Firstly, because you do a great job with the Indian traffic. I myself once rode through Bangalore on an Enfield Bullet as a passenger, and that was more than enough for me ...
Secondly, because you have such a positive attitude towards your bike. Because, in fact, an adventure bike with a gasoline engine is better in every respect - except perhaps in terms of cost. It's more comfortable, has longer suspension travel for bad roads, you can store your luggage better and ride 300 or 400 kilometers on one tank of fuel. But you actually manage to see the hours of charging as a positive. Respect!
Seeing you ride on the highways I remembered Road Rash game.
All 90s kids will be thrilled by that game.
While you were in Udaipur it was City, Highway was like Nappa Valley and suburbs of Ahmedabad were like Peninsula.
Please do more long 20+ minutes vlog. It was awesome

Motorcycles are not allowed on Expressway in most part of India. Entering an expressway even accidentally maybe incur a fine of around 50-100 Euros.
Solution:
Use Google map to plan your routes and within the app when select your destination, you would see a bike symbol (tap on it) which is basically a bike mode. It will take you on roads without expressway.
Pro tip: Use bike mode only on highways. Do not use it in city as it will take you to somebody's house saying its a shortcut (been there done that 😅).
Happy Riding!

Yeah I really don’t understand it either, I guess it’s just easier to forbid them all together
Well he has an electric bike so how would they know what cc it is 😂
it will take political color. Politicos will jump on that poor people on two wheels are not allowed but rich ones on expensive bikes are allowed. For now Four wheels is the cutoff and we know its basically is keep poor off these access controlled express ways.

15:00 The Ahmedabad-Vadodra Express way does not allow two wheeler. Excellent road thought. One of the first expressways built in India.
I understand ur frustration about not allowing 2 wheelers in expressways but lot of bike accident happened & government took this incentive. In this route I think there are more such thing may happen. So in google map switch to bike/two wheeler mode, it will help u a lot. Not only you but here locals get same situation when they r traveling inter-state even they get frustrated. Luckily u didn't encounter with cops otherwise it can get much more worse & have pay ticket for & experience with cop makes u more disappointing & frustrated. Enjoy the ride & love ur videos. Cool trip bro.
Tucking in behind a truck has its dangers because if anything is lying on the road you won't be able to see it in time to avoid it (long time motorcyclist).
Keep up the good work...india on a bike is fun.
Riding behind a vehicle, or other rider - Drafting, I used to do it on the Pedal Bike years ago, a big double decker bus was good.
Please Don't skip Mumbai. You're going to cross outskirts of Mumbai on your way to Goa anyway.
And you can have good pairs of tyres for your bike at any major shop in India.
The government implemented this rule because a large portion of bikes in India, around 60-70%, are these smaller ones (100-150cc) that many people ride. They're worried it could mess up the efforts to make traveling between cities faster with these bikes on the expressway impeding the traffic flow. Plus, they're bringing in this rule because there have been too many accidents with bikers on such highways. I understand that your bike is much faster than the normal ones. But since the country is catering to the majority population until it improves infra, these rules have to be applied. Hope this makes some sense.
P.S love your videos, keep up the good work
The guy who told that "I will steal it" he was just joking, in india we make lot of funny jokes.
Hi Marc, I just did a 9000km trip on my electric motorcycle through Vietnam, but never had charging issues. My range is between 150 and 200km, with a maxi speed of 90km/h. My usual travel speed was around 50 to 55km/. For charging, I just need a 220V wall socket. Never used a charging station.in the morning I did 100 to 120km, den lunchbreak and charging during lunchbreak. Den afternoon another 120 or 130km. Never more than 250km/day. No problem whatsoever. Also no maintenance needed for the bike, except oiling the chain regularly and adjust the chain slack.
Love your awesome journey ❤❤.. Cheers from Kerala, India 💖🙏🇮🇳💖
By the way, you really proved that electric motorcycle can travel as well as a petrol engine and can go everywhere. It’s a great lesson for the electric mobility detractors. As you know I personally own two electric cars and one electric motorcycle and I feel it great. So congratulations for your trip.
It depends, I could live with an EV car but at the moment not for a bike, when I take a ride, it’s between 400 and 500km and would hate to search and stop for a charge. The infrastructure is not ready yet and sure not when everybody would ride electric vehicles..

Hi Marc, yes it can make a huge difference in petrol consumption if you slipstream a bus/lorry. I once slipstreamed a coach in the UK for 185miles on a Honda CB250RS and got 130 mpg. Whilst my mate who was with me on the same bike only managed 65mpg. As he didn't like slipstreaming. , also allowed me to "cruise at 70 mph, while he felt he was flat out following me

You cannot unsee this!
Glad that your charging issue got resolved
Hi Marc, Thanks for another great video. I think that with charging it goes to the max A it can throughput via that one phase. If it can give only 230V and 16A, it means 3,68 kW of power. Whereas if it can give 230V and 32 A, that means 7,36 kW. We in EU usually use 3 phase charges, that is why you can utilize the other internal charger from 2nd phase to get those 7,36 kW of power. Keep going mate.
you'd have seen many more electric bikes (mostly E-scooters) but you failed to notice...Remember, any vehicle you see in India be it 2, 3 or 4 wheeler which has a Green coloured number plate on it is an EV. In India, EVs have a green number plate

If one has the range of 250 or 300 km that is really ok. My old 2004 GS has a range of 300 km (Autobahn) to 400 km on smaller roads. That is plenty, especially if you are going on smaller roads. I usually don't drive more than 500 km per day on longer days. So a pause for recharging the battery and ones own is recommended anyway 🙂

The chargers must run as 1charger per phase of electricity therefore you are stuck on the maximum charge amount for single phase , you would require a larger converter if you could do a higher KW for single phase which is to much weight and space, plus most countries have 3 phase power so it should start working on all chargers when you get a decent 3 phase charger .
