Thanks for being here! ❤️
Awww. I could hear my voice when you were doing the luggage check at security. We’re just looking for ship property in the bags. You’d be surprised how many people try and take towels and pillows home with them.
Oh my gosh hiii!!! And I had no idea 😅 good to know 🤗
I'll be starting soon as well ! Bout to start my training in MD! I see a lot of people doing they're research before working lol
ill be there in early april!! i can’t wait
I just applied for pride of America sailing in Honolulu I hope I get the position!
I live in Baltimore just got hired and about to do my training soon I can’t wait
Same! I leave this weekend
The safety guy sucks lol he thinks hes special ops or something make sure u dont stand out and just mind ur business
Thank you for sharing your experience on the POA. I hope you are able to get a contract soon! Good Luck! 💙
Thank you so much!! ♥️
Hi Krista I am so happy that I found you. lol. I just signed my offer letter last Wednesday. I couldn't be more excited. Hawaii is my absolute happy place. I love to travel and go on cruises. I have so many questions. But I don't want to through them all at you. I'm sure my recruiter well assist me. Just curious about the process and how long it all takes to do the background and medical . Thank you. Any advice you can give would be appreciated
I signed my offer letter last week also ...am beyond excited ! I was told it takes 12-15 business days to get onboarding information...
Great content, I sign off in 5 weeks :)
Yay! Enjoy the rest of your contract :)
Hello, quick question- the hourly pay rate that I was offered was so low compared to what is listed on Glassdoor ($6-7 difference.) Is that something I should bring up? Ty!!
My ? Is after we go home on vacation when do they send you an email about your 2nd contract my job is utility hotel says regular on the job board so idk if that means I have a job waiting after 5 weeks of vacation for the same ship or if I have to wait longer then 5 weeks to come back when space opens up or if they will send me to a different ship
Hey Krista… are Kona beers available at the crew bar or is it just your typical US domestics? Bud light, Coors light etc.?
I think they have 2 Kona beers. They definitely have longboard but I can’t remember the other one!
@@krista.jocelyn ahh thanks…would you do a second contract on POA if the opportunity presented itself?
@@Travelfoodsoul I think I would! Mostly because Hawaii is just so incredible!
do you bring your own pillows and blankets?? i know they have some for you but was wondering if everyone prefers their own.
I bought a throw blanket and pillow at Walmart when I got there!
I have done about a Dozen contacts on the POA
My last 2 was 6.5 months
Yikes
And because i live in Michigan i only took 2 weeks vacation in between because it was in January
Funny story for me
My 3rd contact i was in crew mess potwash my manager came to me around 10am
Told me i was scheduled to leave that day and my plane was scheduled to leave at 5 or 6pm
😂
You definitely loss track of time working on ship
Are good friends with any assistance waiters that can talk about their experiences?
How is life on board the POA as a crew member food and day to day operations and is it only American staff ?
Currently they are short staffed so things have been tough but it was getting better as I left. The food in the mess was ok some days better than others 😅 and it has to be 75% American!
@@krista.jocelyn Oh okay, sounds like things are picking up to speed is every department short staffed and any word if the amenities for the crew will be back to normal any time soon?
Hi Krista, what is your position on the ship? They've been recruiting me as an AB (able seaman) and just wondering what ship life is like there. I've been sailing on tankers and cargo ships for the last few years and am looking to change it up!
Hi! I am a performer, so Im not totally sure what the daily life of your position would be like. But I think it would be fun to switch it up and see Hawaii!
@@krista.jocelyn Hey! Thanks for the reply. My daily life would be similar to an AB on any type of ship. I was just curious what amenities there are for crew. I'm used to bare bones: one computer for crew to check email and what not, maybe a lounge where you can watch movies, etc. I'm guessing it's a little better with so many crew? Also do crew always sign on in Hawaii or the west coast or what?
@@gamehengeful Ohh gotcha! There are a few computers available in the mess! When I left there wasn't a ton of crew enrichment going on because of covid but hopefully they will start planning crew tours, bingo nights, stuff like that soon! And everyone boards in Hawaii!
@@krista.jocelyn Ok cool and thanks for taking the time to reply. They've contacted me again since I first messaged you so I guess they're really hurting for deck crew.
I thought it will be sharks out!
I hope I pass my medical .I’m excited and nervous this is my first time working on a cruiseship ..Any first timers ?
I have my medical exam next week, this will be my first time as well.
This will be my first time too I got done with my medical already I’m waiting on my training in piney point
@@mbkjay1946hello, my training in Maryland is going to be the next week.. they’ll pay for that week ? And also, after that, how long is going to take for boarding the cruise ? Thanks for your answer
Was it hard to do a contract for that long? Was it worth it?
It gets tough at times but it's worth it!
Wait! do you have your own room? How long is your tour/contract?
Technically yes, but my boyfriend and I chose to be roommates!
@@krista.jocelyn curious. Cause I hope to be working soon. Is there 2 to a room? Thanks
How many roommates do cruise staff have?
Usually just one other person!
When are you able to leave the ship?
Whenever you have time off!
Do you still work on pride of America?!
No, I'm on Enchantment of the Seas now!
can you tell me what all the medical exam entails?
drug test tetanus shot mmr shot eye exam bend down stretch etc
Yeah! I talk about it all in this video! 👉ruclips.net/video/489AF3je5yA/видео.html
@@krista.jocelyn thank you very much mam
How many bags did you pack im thinking of bringing 2 bags
I bring 3!
@@krista.jocelyn I have a week and a half of clothes packed and in my other bag I have my shoes my bathroom kit a pillow a blanket and I'm hoping to bring my PS4 to watch movies and play games on when I decide to stay on the boat plus I only have 2 bags but il probably buy one at Walmart when I'm there bc I'm sure il be buying clothes and souvenirs
Have you started working on ship yet?? If so, how is it so far??@@joshuamiller2627
If I ever see you I will be saying 👋
“How do you guys feel? Are you guys sad??”
“No. Nope!”
😂😂
Lol not at all
