Let me know of any examples you can think of!
The post Ron McLaren. It's horrendous! The ugliest livery in F1. Orange is the national racing colours of New Zealand. Zak Brown jut wants it orange, due to the Can-Am McLaren's from the late 60s.
We still call 'em Sauber because it's so much easier to identify a race team by their owners rather than some convoluted constructs... just like Mumtalakat Racing, Stroll F1, Dorilton Motorsport, etc. 🤣
It'll always Sauber, until Audi
To be fair they're still Sauber, it's their constructor name
For me the Earth Hondas were representing that era of F1 and I was really surprised when I found out that people hated it
When Williams switched to a red Winfield livery in 1998😢
I feel that the change from Alpha Tauri to Visa Cashapp Red Bull Subway whatever random sponsor F1 team was another poor decision, while the 2023 livery is not bad by any means and the colours are closer to the metallic tones of Toro Rosso, people was already used to the Alpha Tauri name and the simple yet practical livery.
And the name didn't help either, since is really..odd,to say the least, even the short VCarb name feels odd, making the unofficial Racing Bulls sound better in that aspect.
I'm with Jacques Villeneuve on this one... "Bull Racing". 😉
The VCARB one just makes zero sense
I’m calling them Minardi in protest!
@@lordhenrywotton95I never stopped calling them Toro Rosso 😂
I just call them Red Bull
Colin Chapman first got around the sponsor rules, by naming the team Gold Leaf. We know it was Lotus, but it wasn't the name of the team at the time. The rules stated, you could only have fuel, tyres etc, and the name of the team.
Genius really
@@thegridgab Yeah, he was. I've always wondered what his IQ was, but I suppose it doesn't really matter. He proved his genius many times.
Rokit neglected to pay Williams F1. They ALSO had the same scenario with AJ Foyt Racing in INDYCAR...
And haven't seen them in F1 since
Considering how BMW is doing in WSBK they better pay those sponsorship money
Quality content as usual. Definitely deserve more subs
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching
Rob Walker had a really good, really British name for his team
Brooke Bond Oxo Rob Walker Racing Team
That is still, somehow, better than whatever Sauber is attempting
Biggest livery downgrades IMO: McLaren switching from the iconic red/white Marlboro to drab silver and black, especially after teasing us with a bright orange testing livery. Williams going from Rothmans stripes to that mess of a red car. Jordan switching from green to blue in 1992.
Good choices!
Yeah, I hated the chrome Vodafone livery. So many people liked it, but, to me, it looked cheap and tacky. Not to mention the horrible team gear that went along with it.
visa cash app rb: hello there
It’s interesting that you and many others seem to think that Saubers current color scheme is good looking.
To me it looks like a child decide to draw an f1 car and only had two markers… to make that green work they would have needed some other color to balance it. It just looks basic and uninspired. All the other teams have amazing liveries in comparison.
Colour scheme is good, pattern and layout isn't it
I kinda liked the RoKit Williams, crazy that they were almost Rich Energy Williams
This might be and probably is nostalgia talking, but I miss the… “vibes” of peak Ron Dennis McLaren. Y’know, like if the team were a person it would wear a suit and have it shaken, not stirred. Slightly James Bond. I think some of that has been taken up by Mercedes but it’s not the same.
I know what you mean. Ron's McLarens were always well presented, hyper professional team. I wouldn't say Mercedes are like that. Lotus was always the best presented car in the 60s and 70s, McLaren in the 80s, 90s and 00s, but since then, they all look quite dull and generic.
@@creepingdread88 Yeah Merc aren’t quite on that level but seem to have some elements of the same image. You can see it even in how George’s hair got smarter when he moved from Williams. I gotta say that I miss how Ron Dennis would take zero crap from interviewers too lol - even if I disagreed with him, it was entertaining.
Also when Haas got Uralkali sponsorship. Like imagine the American F1 team races with Russian flag livery
funny how "Rich" Energy actually gave us a decent livery. :)
real
I disagree. The 2007 Renault was a let down but with hindsight it wasn't that bad. The 2008 livery, coupled with the ugliest car that year, was hideous.
It was a rough time for sure
If it was just the title sponsors, it would have looked pretty good. It was the yellow and orange together, that didn't work. Yeah, plus it being really ugly. That thing might have been the ugliest F1 car of any year!
The final Ron Dennis years McLaren cars are just plain ugly.
Toro Rosso -> VCARB 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Stake F1 Team isn't bad, y'all are just blinded by nostalgia.
Which part isn't bad?
@@thegridgab literally none of it, quite frankly, but i guess since it's not something like audi it's just "not good enough".
