    Yes they were taking Caitlin off ball bcs she was getting hedged, but they did that to Erica wheeler, Kelsey Mitchell and Kristy Wallace too. More so on Caitlin. When she was getting hedged she got no help. At one point, the other 4 were just standing there looking at their teammates getting doubled. Idk if the players are confused or the coach doesn’t have a game plan. I assume it’s the latter

    • @destinypirate
      @destinypirate 13 дней назад

      It appears the game plan is just to run and spot up for threes and hope that somebody can slash and dump off to them this helps them save energy because they don't have to run around too much or worry about rebounding or anything like helping playmakers out of double teams.

    Bluder positioned her players on the court in set spots. Allowing her players to run to their spots and wait for Clark’s pin point pass and catch and shoot. It was like a fast game of basketball “horse”. Professional ball isn’t played like that.

    Lack of leadership on the floor. CC is used to running the floor and seemed lost in this coach's strategy which took her out of that role.

    Caitlin has "IQ", the vets have both "IQ" and years of experience. It became pretty apparent that the defense knew where her passes were going almost as soon as she threw it. They closed in and intercepted her passes. I think the speed of defenders took her completely off guard. She needs to make decisions faster and pass much more crisply. The coaches need to turn up the aggression a notch on the semi-pro players they scrimmage to make them pass and handle the ball better.

      Only the most strongly (and wrongly) opinionated fans are making the vast majority of the comments. I have tried to help them understand what coach Sides has said and why she has said the things she has, and I have informed them of other team member dynamics involved in this situation, and have asked for their patience with little effect. The worst thing that has made some of the fans obnoxious is that several RUclips channels are purposely providing provocative and misleading information, and creating unwarranted conflict and hostility between CC fans and veteran WNBA players, and the WNBA league itself.

  • @SisterNoble

    I don't think any fans of Iowa thought Caitlin Clark wasn't going to attract aggressive defenses or wouldn't struggle against aggressive defenses because we've seen aggressive defenses on Clark. We expected a level of intense, aggressive defense on Clark by WNBA players because some players said publicly they were going to compete against Clark. The problem has been haters of Caitlin Clark expecting her to fail as a rookie.
    👉👉👉 Two ticky tack fouls by refs. Caitlin looks frustrated with Christie. I've seen her frustrated about foul calls this entire season at Iowa. Nothing new to her fans. But haters of Caitlin Clark on social media taking jabs at Iowa fans only shows how racist many CC haters really are. Las Vegas Aces star player A'ja Wilson definitely doesn't hate CC, but I do think she hates Iowa fans and supporters of Caitlin Clark.
    Many WNBA players are definitely gunning for Caitlin. Some don't like all this fanfare Clark has gotten, and many others don't like Caitlin's fans.

    • @destinypirate

      This is accurate and it's just revealing of flaws in the human engine that come out of group think, hivemind, mob mentality. Within groups people can only meet at the lowest common denominator, successful groups just have higher levels of lowest common denominators.
      The negative social trends that we are seeing are an expression of humanity not yet finding a way to prevent social media from lowering common denominators. . .
      We heard some of the exact same biases and sideways remarks towards Tiger Woods when he came out, but we agreed as a culture to support Tiger and to push the negative voices aside. Right now we've regressed because the negative voices are not being pushed aside.
      This goes far beyond Caitlin Clark but she is a true Canary in the cultural coal mine due to her unique introduction to the culture and the Innocence of her state. She's only brought us a beautiful song with her style of play and she's caused nobody harm. If we can't treat her well then it's a sad narrative on the state of our culture.
      Of course the great irony to all of this is that Iowans are some of the most accepting people on the planet. I know this because I've lived all over and in multiple cultures both abroad and in the states. Iowans do have expectations when it comes to hard work and loyalty, yet when players join the Iowa team they can expect a level of loyalty like no other, even if they aren't the best. This is why, years and decades later, we find players of all backgrounds saying that Iowa continues to feel like a second home for them.
      Iowa is also the best place in the world for supporting women's basketball going back to the 6 versus 6 days and the level of support creates a culture where it only made sense that a girl would rise up believing she could do anything, so she did..
      For everyone who wants other girls to rise up - the lesson is right there in front of them and they could just learn it from the simple culture of iowa and all of the Iowans who would reach a hand in good sportsmanship.

    Don't get why Coach Sides has Aaliyah Boston at the top of the circle(Key) on every play. It does help for screens but Boston cannot operate out there. Boston is not Angel Reese. Reese can turn around and go tot the hoop. Boston cannot. If Boston is that far out she needs to pick and roll with CC or pass it to the lower post. She is doing none of that. She is a statue out there.

    I think this coach is over her head. Seen all three games and they all were played the same with no changes. This coach has not won anywhere. These players have loss everywhere they have played in the WNBA. They are not in shape. This coaches is not fighting for calls. CC cannot give this team a winning mentality. This offensive scheme will not work at this level. They even showed up unprofessional. Only Caitlin showed up dressed properly. Coach showed up like a practice. The other players showed up like homeless people. Connecticut showed up like Awards night. Coached dressed up for the Sun. ESPN treated this like a Championship game. Like that breakdown. I was trying to keep track of blown assists but got caught up in yelling at the TV that I lost track! But are you sure there were only 2 freeze outs? I felt like I saw a couple more.

    • @destinypirate
      @destinypirate 13 дней назад +4

      @@shf4592 I counted 4 freeze outs through 4 quarters, this was imperfect watching (while two puppies attacke me!) yet close enough for horseshoes/hand grenades.
      The BIG issue is lack of passing stategy - both swing passes/spacing and lane running.
      Basically no offense - The Fever jog up the floor to 3 spots and expect a driver to kick out. No strong pick and roll. No passing or lane opening schemes.
      THe other issue is garbage-foul play, not only on CC but through the league. This takes replaces the skill of the game with chippiness and is tiresome to watch, let alone play.
      In the end, lack of running/passing/energy and missed catches/shots become Clark 'turnovers' instead of assists.
      The Fever look out of shape and out of scheme. Coach or coachability?
