Please react to vaathi coming song from the movie "Master"
After Seeing Mohanlal’s versatile acting of Mohanlal in the film Vanaprastham , the French camera man of the film has once said that This man is born at the wrong side of the world and if he is in Hollywood, he would have won numerous Oscars by this time.
@@Anoopleo17 ❤️
That's insulting he fucking meant that we don't deserve great actors and only the west has all the best actors
@@adityaagarwal5179 He says Oscar deserves Mohanlal
@@ujwval he said he is born at the wrong side of the world that's insulting and there are so many film industries in Asia making better films than Hollywood and I don't consider Oscar as the biggest award it's just an American award show thats all
@@adityaagarwal5179 What's insulting about it? If he had been born in a Western country and won an Oscar, he would have been known internationally. Currently, very few know about him in India itself.
Should have watched THANMATHRA instead... This movie has a lot of cultural references.
One of his best performance
Spadikam will be more best I think.. The change into a different genre, The mass and class of Father Son relation.. more interesting to watch..
@@ashikraj3398 aaaahaa... Nna nee industry marunathayirikum nallath...
Yes... Thanmaathra
You guys should watch Thanmathra to have a better exposure of his acting, also it's a great movie.
Rick Segall, Corbin Miles and whoever is reading these comments, I am a Gujarati and I don’t know a WORD of Malayalam, I have been NRI since I was 5 years old and I STILL watched Thanmathra with subtitles, I totally agree with this gentleman here, you absolutely need to watch this movie to fully appreciate the range this man has as an actor. Watch it
Good suggestion.
Yes,please we all are waiting
Oh it's a great movie
I second that
Finally..I am glad that you like it..I am not sure you got it or not, she never loved kunhikuttan. She only loved him in the roles of kathakali. So without the dress, makeup she didn't want him to be seen. Next Mohanlal movie, Thanmathra.
Thanmatra should've been the first!!!
I would like to suggest THAZHVARAM too
Thanmathra is a bad movie though, other than mohanlal's acting everything else is mediocre.
@@nikhilkrishnan9 well you are Unique... the first guy I ve come across with such a review.

Thanmathra would’ve been more relatable... Ram Gopal Varma once quoted: “Mohanlal- India’s answer to Marlon Brando”
What are his top 10 best acting thespian performances?

For me;
1-Sadayam
2-Thazhvaram
3-Vasthuhara
4-Namukku parkkan munthirithoppu
5-Iruvar
6-Devasuram
7-Thanmathra
8-Kireedam
9-Dasaratham
10-Rajashilpy
There are a lot....these once are first Which will strike in my mind...
it’s Indo- French production. Cinematography is by Santhosh Shivan and Renato Berta. Story is co-written by pierre Assouline and Shaji N Karun.
Raghunath paleri screenplay
And by the way, the actress Suhasini is a famous Tamil actress and her husband is the legendary director Mani Ratnam who directed Bombay, Dil se, Iruvar etc.
Yep and she's also the niece of Kamal Hasan
Nayakan, Thalapathi are his best.
Suhasini is a film institute product and good Cinematographer herself, a good writer , director too! She has done shortstories serials in Tamil.
Go and watch THANMATHRA guys
It is a masterpiece
This is not the best movie to get introduced to Mohanlal because it has a lot of subtexts which i doubt they would understand...They should have started with Sadayam or Thanmatra perhaps...Even Iruvar would have been better
Iruvar could probably be the best after Vanaprastham, in terms of his performance, because of the range of the emotions the character goes through (everything starting from a sort of a "childish curosity/naivity" to literally being lifeless)
Thanmathra where can i watch this with subtitles???
ഇരുവർ സൂപ്പർബ് ആൺ
Actually he was quoted by the TIMES magazine as "India's answer to Marlon Brando"
Yes
But, In terms of versatility and genres and number of roles played, Mohanlal is far above Brando ! They are only compared in the sense of acting so realistic and natural. Other than that, Please don't compare them. #thecompleteactor #mohanlal 🙏☺️🤞
Could you please tell in which edition of Time Magazine did this statement appear and by whom(Was the writer Indian?). I googled it and could not come up with any evidence for this statement, than similar claims.
Another popular misinformation is the IMDB list which lists Mohanlal as one among the best 10 actors. But IMDB lists are user created.
Here is an IMDB best actors list in which Vinu Mohan tops the list
.
www.imdb.com/list/ls068959072/?ref_=nm_rls_1
THis is the celebrated list in which MOhanlal is listed. Created by.. PrashobhKumar.
(aara? enikkariyilla)
www.imdb.com/list/ls054840033/
I would be the first one to argue that Mohanlal is infact India's answer to Brando. A phenomenal actor. But, before blindly believing in the statements that you see on social media, try to look for the authenticity of such news. Social media is pure Maaya. Google would be a helpful tool, occasionally.
You have been constantly calling people names. They might have seen it in WhatsApp or any other social media, yes, and most of the time would be fake. But that doesn't give you any right to call people any names. Second thing, that news is to fake or not I don't know, but Mohanlal is one of the greatest actors India has. He is much much better than any Bollywood stars in terms of acting, yes, far better than even the Big B.
@@neo-noiranathubronthan6045 So called IMBD list of best actors is very stupid.
But,We can read it in IRUVAR's Imdb (trivia) that he was lauded by times magazine for his performance in IRUVAR in 1997 (after screening in US)..
Ofcourse,it can be created by any user...But this popular opinion seem authentic...
@@neo-noiranathubronthan6045 www.imdb.com/list/ls054840033/
Should have watched thanmathra! You've got a long way before you can digest this film.
FINALLY! 😁 Mohanlal is amazing. This movie may not be the best for you'll to watch only because of the heavy Kathakali reference. If you didn't know, Mohanlal is an exceptional comedian. He is brilliant in stunt scenes , he dances, he sings, and he lives each character, he doesn't act. If I had to compare him to anyone in Hollywood, it'll be Robert De Niro :)
Roberto Nero has his limits compared to Lal.
The physically minute(facial expressions, predominantly) yet deeply emotionally conveying acting could arguably be compared to that of Brando's. The acting of DeNiro is a bit more pronounced and methodical. Kamal Haasan, in the more subtle roles that he has portrayed, could be compared to De Niro. In my humble observation.
But deniro can't do comedy.
@@neo-noiranathubronthan6045 Dont you think Al Pacino might be a better comparison with Kamal, regarding their more popular roles. De Niro is not really all that 'loud' compared to that. It might be true comparing their more subtle roles. But when i think about switching roles between 'Heat' and 'Unnai pol oruvan', the more subtle character done by De Niro is better suited to Mohanlal while the bit quirky portrayal by Al Pacino is suited to Kamal Hassan.....I feel De Niro and Mohanlal is a fair comparison
On another note, how do you feel about Mohanlal vs Seymour Hoffman?
@@juliansam Now that you pointed it out, man, I do see similarities between the performances of Al Pacino and Kamal(They seem to have a similar energy to their performances, infact). Had not crossed my mind while writing the comment since the references of my thoughts were MOhanlal, De Niro and their performances. Embarrassingly, I am not quite familiar with Hoffman's work. I remember watching a couple of clips of him, out of context and I see how Mohanlal's performances could be compared to his( maybe even their body language)
But,I don't quite see how De Niro and Mohanlal are similar.
(MOhanlal's murder monologue in Sadayam and Brando's horror monologue in Apolcalypse Now, I feel , have the same kind of vibe, if not the intensity, if you could dismiss the difference in the technicalities of the movies)

Mohanlal, The complete actor!
Please watch Thanmatra, Iruvar(tamil) opposite Aishwarya rai, her first film, directed by Mani Ratnam legendary director, also the husband of Suhasini who played Subhara! Also in the original version of Bhool bhulayya ( Manichitrathazhu) Mohan lal played the doctor's role!
No language remake makes justice to original manuchitra tazhe movie
Honestly I was getting little annoyed for not having explored Mohan Lal yet. This guys is arguably the best world cinema has ever seen. This movie is very peculiar. You should explore him more. Let's not compare Fahadh Faasil with him please. With all due respect to Fahadh, you can't compare a new comer with a legend. Please check out his other movies; Bharatham, Kireedam, Nadodikkattu, Kilukkam, Thanmathra, Iruvar, Sphadikam, His highness Abdullah, Kaalapani, Drishyam, Manichitrathazhu, Devasuram and many more in the list.
Fahad fasil is the first malyalam actor that Rick and korbin got introduced to before anyone else (in super deluxe n kumbalangi nights). Stupid babies wanted to introduce Mohan lal so they said that Fahad fasil is a kid in front of mohanlal so that korbin n Rick could atleast become a little familer that there r more legendary actors in mollywood that osr has got to explore. Neither of two actors were being insulted or demeaned by anyone✌️

Mo pronounced as the mo in 'more'
Han pronounced similar to 'sun' or 'fun'
Lal pronounced similar to 'pal'
So basically something like MOHUNLAAL
Welcome to the world of Mohanlal! Happy birthday to the legend ( it’s my birthday too today 😀).
Do not even think this is the genre he is strongly known for. The guy is an acting genius - can do comedy, action, romance, and serious roles effortlessly. Apart from this, His best performance are in these movies. Strictly my opinion. Then there are tons of comedic and action movies which are for the mass fan following!

To be very frank VANAPRASTAM is not your cup of time bcz of its cultural references .it would be better to watch THANMATRA coz it has a universal theme and easily relatable.
A traditional dancer of this discipline, has to train for 10 plus years. The most impressive fact was that the actor picked it up in a very short amount of time. Its like if Tom Hanks showed up in a movie suddenly and was as good as Jet Li in terms of fighting.

You guys should watch more accessible Mohanlal films before you move on to films like Vanaprastham. That one was hard to grasp even for me being a malayali, although I watched it when I was much younger. So I suggest you try Spirit, Drishyam & Thanmathra.
Also calling Fahadh a kid was more of an age thing. Mohanlal has been here for years while Fahadh is a relatively new and younger actor, although many including me see him as Mohanlal's successor in terms of natural acting.

As highlighted above by 12 34 you will need to watch them keeping in mind that almost all these movies were made in the 90s and late 80s. So the outlook of these movies and most of the other commercial movies were stictly for the malayalee audiences of that time. Movies were generally not made keeping a global audience in mind. So all mannerisms and pacing and dialogue presentation can only be appreciated completely if you understand the culture of the people as a whole. Hope this makes sense.
But one thing is guaranteed and that is mohanlal's acting in all of the movies is top notch. 🤘
And I can add many many more to this list 😛
Amitabh Bachchan don't have 10% of what Mohanlal's achievement as an actor. Amitabh is good actor and huge star. But 90% of his films are meaningless commercial entertainers. Serious film maker of hindi films industry always preferred actors like Ompuri, Nasiruddin Shah etc. In terms of artistic content Hindi films decade away from Bengoli and Malayalam films. Good hindi films can only compete with other mediocre hindi films. Not with best regional films.
Pointless comparisons. You can watch and appreciate all the actors. There is no point in trying to score one actor over the other. Besides, Mohanlal has done his fair share of trashy action flicks with over the top dialogues. I'm a Mohanlal fan, but no actor has a 100% flawless career. They are bound by the demands of box office.
Comparing AB with Mohanlal is like comparing Apples and oranges. Both are great and you need not put other down to make other great. If you think AB is 10% of Mohanlal, it shows your ignorance and does no damage to those actors. AB is too costly to work in those artsy films like Ompuri, Naser did.
Mohanlal of late has been doing commercial potboilers...
Kerala - Malayalam
Karnataka - Kannada
Tamil nadu - Tamil
Andhra Pradesh, Telangana - Telugu
Maharahtra - Marathi
I think I covered the largest industries in South India
Please watch Thanmathra and Kaalapani
Please watch Mohanlal Malayalam movie Kireedom. It’s a cult classic in Malayalam film industry.
That assessment is correct, in context of bollywood it would be like comparing some new gen star like Ranveer or Ranbir to Big B or Naseeruddin Shah. These older actors just have a lot of wisdom and experience with the craft than the new gen.
I would recommend first movies which might be more easy to understand for foreign audience would be 'Thanmathra', 'Spadikam', or , 'Devasuram'.

Mohanlal is not a method actor. His style leans more towards spontaneity, and is comparable to Stella Adler's acting method, which she built on the Stanislavski method, of course -- natural acting that emphasizes imagination and emotional recall. On the other hand, Mammootty -- the other Big 'M' of Malayalam cinema -- can be classified as a method actor. Even though, in actuality, it is difficult to put both of these actors in boxes like that.
PS. Not saying any of these methods are better than the others. Whatever be the theory, we know the value these icons carry in our minds.

Guys do thanmathra review please
*The reason Subhadra* (In Mythology: The Name of wife of Arjuna) was enticed with and had sex with him is that through his performance she was passionately obsessed with the mythical character Arjuna .Who is pretty much the hero of the Mahabharata, a Demi God (who was one of the fiercest warriors even among gods) and considered to be the pinnacle / perfection of what a man can/could be. Subhadra (in movie) was already in love with the character Arjuna from the mythology (and the script expertly names her the same name as Arjuna s wife) and also the Kadhakali art form and how it is able to embody/bring to life the mythologies of the land.
And it is upon seeing Kunhikannan (Mohanlal s character) portray Arjuna that she becomes even more obsessed with it. She initially understands the division between the artist and the character but later she only sees the character. He is like a God in front of her and it is why she sleeps with him and conceives a baby. Subhadra 100% believes that this is the baby of a God and thus that Kunhikannan is just a man and therefore NOT the father of the child and has no rights over him. This obsession later decides her fate as well . Kunhikannan got a taste for a finer life in the shape of this beautiful high caste women who worships his work as well as through the joy of being a father. And when being denied those pleasures , he becomes enraged and is seen through his work there on.
I hope I didn not confuse you even more. And may be now you can understand more of the movie (And dont worry about what they were talking with gestures, people who understand them are very few. THANMATRA THANMATRA THANMATRA THANMATRA THANMATRA THANMATRA THANMATRA THANMATRA
Please do Thanmathra next
Now you have seen him he was in original Drishyam and Bhool bhulaiya.. Now you can understand why malayalees were pleading to watch the original one..
Please see and review to "Thanmathra" movie of MohanLal...
Sir plz watch "thanmatra"
