Kerala should really try bringing out TV shows. With the stomach for quality that it has, I am sure it will start garnering more global and domestic audience and perhaps it will start receiving the recognition that it deserves. Today it seems Bollywood represents Indian movie. It has to change, there should either be enough space for all industries out of India or quite frankly, in terms of quality content Bollywood doesn't deserve to represent India. If Mollywood fimmakers had only a quarter of the budget that some Bollywood makers had, there would only be one industry from India that would be famed across the world and would single handedly raise the benchmark of world cinema.
This is a very enlightening session. I'm so impressed by the way he explains his process of writing the script of this film. And of course your observation, Baradawaj Rangan. Great interview.
No need to discuss acting ability of Legendary Gopi's son ...He have equally delivered as Mohanlal..Even I felt little bit more than Mohanlal in this movie.Last court scene is the example..
I remember how Hindi audience went gaga over Hindi version of Drishyam claiming it to be a masterpiece without having watched the original. Ajay Devgn was so bad that I never watched the Hindi version again. His expressions in the climax was just embarrassing and he was clueless whether he should act stern or show remorse. I am glad Malayalam version for part 2 released with subtitles for people to watch the best version and hopefully reject poorly crafted remakes in future.
It's especially funny because Devgn is considered one of the better actors in Bollywood and yet in this scene, with the performance of Mohanlal in mind, you realize just how mediocre he is as an actor. Either that or the director did a poor job. I felt no emotions in the reveal that the body was buried underneath the police station. The Malayalam version was so poetic and sad. Bollywood audience is so used to stupid movies that mediocrity seems like great cinema to the audience.
Infact all remakes were literally like apologies to the original 😑 In the Tamil version, for all of his ability to underplay, Kamal introduced some of his standard, commercial angry and loud expressions, claiming that the Tamil audience wouldn't accept the portrayal otherwise. We are an audience that loved and respected a movie like kaakka muttai. .just saying.... we are not Neanderthals to understand only loudness! If he had performed with the restraint of a Guna or Mahanadhi, it would have connected much more. About Ravichandran and Venkatesh, with all due respect to their seniority and accomplishments, the lesser said about their portrayals, the better 😒
@@gangaishvar954 Telugu remake was pretty good and as good as the original actually. Venkatesh's style of acting fit very well for this role and Nadia also acted very well.
@@gangaishvar954 To be fair to Kamal, the changes in character were from the writer Jeethu Joseph himself. He wanted a more apologetic and regretful protagonist compared to Mohanlal's stoic approach.
@@clevitationcr1982 Respect your view, but I beg to differ :) What i saw in Venkatesh, was a 'performance', an effort... it wasn't organic at all, for me atleast.. he stuck to his limited stock of cinematic expressions... sorry, but even plastic at times. I guess the sensibilities of the helmsman , helmswoman Sripriya in this case, also matter a lot.. She is from a heavily commercial cinematic era... Even universal human emotions, language notwithstanding, were lost in translation, for me. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose :)
He said he'll not forget his script which he prepares in his mind because he visualises them.. drishyam.. that's the idea of the whole movie.. the hero plays around with the same idea of how strong visuals are and how they become not easily forgettable
Everyone is spending money for high budget movie, this director movie one can exp the high level of crime thriller which is best feel to enjoy it ....huge respect for his knowledge of screenplay and story writing....

No need to discuss acting ability of Legendary Gopi's son ...He have equally delivered as Mohanlal..Even I felt little bit more than Mohanlal in this movie.Last court scene is the example..
He is always perfect.. Even we r not appreciating mohanlal... Only jeethu is scoring here
41:18 We could see a maestro's happiness when his work gets noticed.
When Jeethu says he visualise things and thus he never forgets, yes that’s what Drishyam 1 was all about 😅😂
I remember how Hindi audience went gaga over Hindi version of Drishyam claiming it to be a masterpiece without having watched the original.
Infact all remakes were literally like apologies to the original 😑
In the Tamil version, for all of his ability to underplay, Kamal introduced some of his standard, commercial angry and loud expressions, claiming that the Tamil audience wouldn't accept the portrayal otherwise.
@@clevitationcr1982 Respect your view, but I beg to differ :)
What i saw in Venkatesh, was a 'performance', an effort... it wasn't organic at all, for me atleast.. he stuck to his limited stock of cinematic expressions... sorry, but even plastic at times.
48:33 third part climax is in jeethu’s mind. But he isn’t sure if he can make a full story out of it.
Thank you Jeethu Sir for the wonderful interview. Helps a lot for the aspiring Film Makers.
God bless!!
Mr.Bhradwaj you nailed it. Candid conversation with the director and detailed. I didn’t see anyone else picking Jeethus brain like you did. Every scene analyzed thoroughly. Interesting conversation towards the end regarding the next sequel as well 😀😀
BR Sir, what an interview!! This interview is Dhrishyam Thesis .You covered every aspect of that movie.
D2 was a gem this interview was also a gem. One of the best interviews that I've had ever seen. I respect how closely BR is analysing a movie, he is a genius that's why he would understand the brilance in acting that Mohanlal have put for this movie.
You never explain this much details in any other interviews. Thax
Brilliant story writing, such a perfect continuation from the first movie, the second movie, the sequel was amazing.
With impactful acting from Mohanlal Sir, Meena and other cast made the movie a blockbuster.
Highlight of Malayalam cinema.
Looking forward for Drishyam 3❤
This is the best interview in the Film Companion channel!!! Jeethu Joseph rocks🤟🤟🤟
Top thrillers of India Drishyam Series 🔥🔥 😍😍
One of the best interviews ever!!! Thank you BR!!!
I have seen many post - drishyam interviews and most of the questions were repetitive were jeethu probably was tired of answering the same questions. But here, the questions were fresh and critical were it even got me more into the film. Best interview I’ve seen so far, even jeethu have said that as well which made him confess about drishyam 3!! Great job!!
Jeethu is so sincere and humble. But he is giving away the whole story.
This is a treat for all the Drishyam 2 lovers. The only movie that I have been watching on a loop for the past week. Such a lovely thrilling storytelling ❤️
