This is the only part of "The Strain" that I can watch! What a great character! A "student" of mankind with a Vampire's speed and agility and strength with a very cultured British accent! What would you do if he showed up on your doorstep?
The show never did justice to this character's backstory. He was the first "Blade" the day-walker called "TheBorn." His mother was pregnant with him when she fought off the Master during an attempted murder. She fled and gave birth, only to be killed by the master. The Born then went wild until he was captured and trained in the Roman Army as a weapon. Then he dedicated his life to killing the Master, his father even though it meant his own death.
A.D. Edwards It was the kid. In the books, the Master kept him for years, getting him ready to be occupied. The show tried to duplicate that over a season. It failed.
The American accent didn’t exist back then unfortunately lmao and directors have to make movies/series assuming everyone has a short attention span, which they do, most people can’t be bothered to read subtitles, and if actors started speaking with accents not only would it take time to perfect/ money to get accent coaches, language Nazis would still go ham. The English accent is the best because it makes them sound more sophisticated.

I read a book about the romans about when they invaded the british isles. I think it was called rome and the barbarians. The word barbarian comes from the romans mocking people who couldn't speak the same language as them. They said that if they couldn't understand them, all they could hear, so they claimed, was bar bar bar, hence the word barbarian.
I've seen quite a few fighters do that, so they can be more agile, and not weigh down with too big of muscles. He definitely could add some more weight to them before having that problem, though.
It makes me think that was part of the reasoning behind this scene, but alas poor ratings put an end to that idea. It would likely have done better on Netflix, or Amazon.

flukeman022 it isn't exactly the same helmet!
The spikes on the helmet are different and the middle part on the top too ^^
wrong. Crowe's had spikes.
Writer: "Let's make a show about gladiators."
Producer: "Meh, it's been done."
Writer: "Ok, then what about vampires?"
Producer: "That's been done even more. Don't you have any original ideas?"
Writer: "Well, then what about a gladiator...vampire?"
Producer: "Brilliant!"

yup. +1 for the weird algorithms.
Similar story, but older provenance. THe Greeks used the term barbarian long before there was a Rome.
You are correct about the story, only it was the Greeks not the Romans.
@@SShendrik sounds like greek propaganda to me, rome forever!
Okay I recognize that helmet that he just dropped on the floor, it belonged to maximus in gladiator.
@Fizz I have the helmet in the shape of a ring.

@@valdemiralves808 what's that mean? Just asking
No- It belonged to Awesomous Maximus 😂
They had budget to buy only 1 helm so they use it in all movies 😂
The Strain was an amazing show. I've watched the whole show twice.
@@akoko2829 The Strain
Gladiator was made 20 years ago and to this day no other gladiator movie compares.
Nope and Nothing Made here after will
This isn't a "gladiator movie" and is literally just a small bit of a show set in the post-apocalyptic present...
His name is actually "Gladio Barbarico - He Who Skips Leg Day"
What are you on about? His legs are perfectly proportionate with the rest of his body.
😆😆
>you mad xd
It's not 2006 anymore buddy :^)
Nemanja Vidic bahahaha that's funny
I've seen quite a few fighters do that, so they can be more agile, and not weigh down with too big of muscles. He definitely could add some more weight to them before having that problem, though.
I loved the strainntv series and especially Quinlan. If there was a spinoff series on him wanderingbthrough the centuries i'd totally watch it!
It makes me think that was part of the reasoning behind this scene, but alas poor ratings put an end to that idea. It would likely have done better on Netflix, or Amazon.
@@harvestblades Actually, there would be no further stories from this char, simply because the actor - Rupert-Penry Jones - found he really hated the prosthetics, and even said in an interview that he will be avoiding anything that requires he has such heavy prosthetics again.
Well, if other gladiators flail their swords like that no wonder he keeps winning.
They should do a prequel of The Strain , with Quinn as the main character , would be a great watch..
RUclips recommendation is like my ex, always bringing up the past.
same
Nah

@@joshuaadams738 I must be blind. I see the name of the TV program, but I don't see the name/number of the episode.
looks like the elder vampire from the witcher 3 !
Hello fellow Witcher addict!
THE BLACK Cat haha😅
THE BLACK Cat Exactly what I thought
Totally, yeah :D
School of the bat, perhaps?
Some reason, LOVE this as this looks like an alternate SPARTACUS. Right down to the two actors looking like Dominus and Spartacus.
Legend has it that he met his demise after contracting covid-19
Lol
This actor could play grand Admiral Thrawn on the mandalorian he is very awesome
Thought the exact same!!
@@taygenormandy4284 😂😂 I found a person who thinks like me!
I’d rather just sick this guy on Kathleen Kennedy for what she did to Gina.
@@GMCBigBlock420 @ GMCBigBlock420 oh brother 😀😀 Kathleen Kennedy destroyed star wars with the new trilogy she removed and replaced all huge and rich universes which had as characters gina solo, jasen solo (caedus), mara jade, lumia, thrawn etc. .. By a universe with a poor history and failed characters without values
barbarian gladiator been skippin leg day
Quinlan was by far the best character. He'd have made for an excellent show on his own.
Quinlan was an absolutely fantastic character in a show with more than a few mediocre ones. He stole any scene he was in with not just his power and visage but also his erudition.
Agreed his character is truly unique and completes the show.
So true we need a spin off of his story
Quinlan is great warrior didn't deserve to go out the way did. Abraham the old man was the original Jew vampire Hunter he was a boss instead of Four Seasons should have been eight the last season was like a whirlwind you can tell they rushed it not a bad show if you want to binge watch it gets my five-star rating have the series on Blu-ray for my collection it is a nice addition another show I never even heard of it then binge watched fell in love did the same thing with banshee another great show definitely worth checking out
I have to agree he's an extraordinary actor, he acts with his whole being which really added to a character like Quinlan!!
*The show it's called The Strain. 7,4/10 imdb, 4 seasons 46 episodes, Drama, Horror, Thriller*
