Fucking hilarious! Let's do a podcast of JackAssed Ness. Like I got ideas...
Haha!

I’ve got an MX 13 HSH. I don’t see too many of those first two letters.
couldn't agree more. I have a 98 MIM strat. Can be played for months without going out of tune. It's pickups are really nice. Great guitar for the money.

Wow, great info, but a little late for me lol. Removed neck , I found June 95. Neck serial shows MN 5158036. Love this guitar, installed custom shop 69 pickups. I bought this years ago at a pawn shop for 300.00 plus custom softcase. And yes it stays in tune! Stock tumers. Thanks again🎉

4:40 If the guitar has the original pickguard it may have the date penciled on it. My mim strat was made in April 96 and the serial starts out with MN6. Great video even after all these years.

I have a 2006 Mexican Deluxe Players Strat. The Noiseless pickups are actually "stacked" so I guarentee this model has hotter pickups than the 90's models. The DPS is probably as good as an American strat as well.
I got the same trilogy brah!

I have a 2003 Mexican Strat with original pick ups and it sounds just as nice as my 2011 USA Strat Deluxe and definately louder.
cool never knew this, got my mexican deluxe player's strat from a pawn shop when i was a teenager and never knew how old it was...MN7, 1997-1998, neat.
I have a MN9 but the body date is Jan 6, 2000. Classic 50's model.

If it is MX10 + 6 digits it was made in 2010-2011
If it MX11 + 6 digits it was made in 2011-2012
And on some if it "10" prefix followed by a space and 8 digits it is late 2009 to early 2010 approximately march of 2010

@@rockongoodpeople thanks bro I have subbed!
awesome! Thank u so much! u rock! -David Taub, Next Level Guitar Inc. & EGI
they both will work but if your looking for a heavier sound you will need a humbucker at least in the bridge position but for looks if you playing metal the Ibanez looks more menacing
Much love my friend! Thanks for the info.
Best Regards- Thomas
It holds the 2 strings at the correct angle as they come off the nut and go into the tuner.
I find it odd that we'd call a mim good beginner guitar when it's pretty much the same instrument as its Mia counterpart other than pickups and a few other things that don't cost over 3 times as much .
steve scarberry agree, it's just about changing the pickups of a mim (a pair of custom 69 would be awesome) and then it should sound even better than some MIA
I thought that bro, imo MIM strats and teles are a pretty bloody awesome instrument
With a good setup they can be just as good
It's not the same though
@@davecarsley8773 what is the difference besides the pickups? They are made with the same machines.
actually,to me 21 fret is not enough.BUT something on my guitar (which is mexican strat) that make me fallin love with fender is it sound, specialy on the neck pickup...so i spend my time around 2 hours everyday to "date" with my guitar..:D
Yesterday I lucked into a 2005 HSS mex strat for $200, a friend got an American strat and was going to sell it and said he wanted me to have it because I been playing a bullet strat and a stagg lp, but I had no money so he was going to take it the next day to someone else if I couldn't get the $. I had given up and then a couple hours later I showed my cousin a pic of the guitar and said what a deal it was and he blew my mind by offering to loan me the money so I got on the phone and 30 minutes later I had my Mexican strat plugged into my Eleven Rack and 212 jamming. I started work on my cousin's farm today, lol
awesome! Congrats on the new guitar - you scored a great deal - enjoy! And thank u so much for checking out this video and I hope that it helps u along in your guitar journey. Please stay tuned as I have lots more killer content and lessons coming soon and please subscribe to the channel. Take care and have a rocking day! -David Taub, Next Level Guitar Inc
@rockongoodpeople yeh and looks like the pickup issue rolls on for another decade, already swapped my bridge pickup for a Seymour Duncan JB Jr Humbucker. Also i would add that the Mexican bridge is very uncomfortable and the screws eat in to my hand with palm muting, will need replaced for my playing style. Had a bone nut fitted and fret ends filed and polished, minor details tho concidering a USA strat in the UK is mega bucks!
ever play a fender mustang? strat or mustang? i know it depends on the type of music the band plays but as for true satisfaction im leaning toward white mexican strat over a 69 mustang cuz of the price
I got a 94 mex strat! Yeahuh I'm putting blue silver and red lace sensors in it this bitch too!
cool, i got a black and white from latre nineties. paid 350 for it about 6 yrs ago. im selling it. still has plastic on the back.
David i would like to know name of your band : )
There's no serials on it. Well, not visibly at least. I think there may be some under the neck but I'm not gonna take it off xD Was hoping visual cues might indicate which type it is...
Thank you for your reply.
Ive had both and I prefer Mexican...Jimmy Vaughan (Stevie Rays Brother) said he prefers the Mexican.
This is the same for the MIM Telecasters as well.
My FSR Standard MIM black strat, was made December 2017 which was the last run I suppose as they since added new bridge and pups with extra fret. No other difference. Mine actually has the maple lacquered on the neck both sides and spaghetti logo. Not sure but the black on black with 3 play guard I think made it a special run. Which usually means Nothing at all other than color etc...However these I think will become collectors due to it being the last run of MIM with the ceramic pups. I love my gilmour looking strat! Hahah I'm thinking about adding my player series pups to it though. It will be more like gilmours having 21 frets and 6 screw bridge. Heeehaww!
right on Robert! Sounds like you have a killer MIM strat there - I always loved that black on black look. And thank u so much for checking out this lesson and for your kind words - really appreciate that. And be sure to take a good look around the channel as we have tons of killer lessons taught in the same format - lots of fun stuff. Enjoy and stay tuned - lots more killer content coming soon. exactly the same as mine, Great playin Bud!
I have a 95 that plays awesome although i did change pickups
so is it a smart move to go to the movies or dinner or both i'm just not sure if i got the guts to ask my guitar out what do i do!!!
David, I have a line on a sweet '98 MexiStrat that I am going to check out in person soon. Wanted to say this vid was a huge help (serial number dating format) in helping me decide to pursue it. The info about the late 90's Mexi Strats was very helpful. It's a '98 bust w/ maple neck. Has that 'Derek and the Dominoes' vibe, youbetcha. Should compliment my SG nicely.
Peace.
@p0rsch997 No. They are $499 brand new.
@backinblack751 you must be the chosen one.
I dated my Strat and found out to my surprise it was made in 1944 and had been owned by Winston Churchill .....some weird time distortion groove had obviously happened.xx
Mine looks nearly the same as this one in this video. The serial number says 2006-2007 MIM, but I have a Shawbucker bridge pickup, there are mismatched screws, not to mention when I plugged it in it just hummed and buzzed. I had to rewire the pots and pickups, switch, and jack...it's an MZ6...the knobs are mismatched, there's not a truss rod adjustment on the headstock, I had to pull the machines and clean them and put some new grease on them...I got it for free so it's not a big deal, I'm just trying to authenticate it. Obviously a previous owner was under the pick guard because I've never seen such a soldering mess in my life. I'm guessing with the Shawbucker it's a fat strat? Or not legit...
Hi Mike - sounds like you are doing some really cool work to bring that strat back to life. Not sure about that shawbucker pickup, but sounds like you are getting that bad boy dialed in! And thank u so much for checking out the video - really appreciated. u rock!! And be sure to take a good look around the channel as I have tons of killer content and lessons lots of fun stuff. And what about les pauls??? How can i know in witch year those guitars were made?????
Hmm i have a mexican strat...MZ8 And it has two single coils, AND a Seymour Duncan Humbucker at the bridge Posisjon...If i am going to change the single coils...WHat sould i replace it with?
Seems like all the black label MIM Ive seen with 5 numbers have the single ply pickguard as the ones with 6 numbers have the 3 ply.
interesting point Gary - I did not know about the pickguards - thats cool. And thank u so much for checking out this video - most appreciated. i really want to buy a strat! need it for some hendrix licks!
Thank you for the info!!
dirk nowitzki ? hello dirk nice playing..
Can someone tell me what year my MX13::: mim is I’ve never seen or heard of MX as the first two letters HSH with the telecaster pick up in the center looks completely original The Hs have chrome covers
@trebman91 im pretty sure that mx is for 2010+
I wasnt sure if central america was its own continent or a region of south america. Some people say it is, some say it isnt
@DGA0602
Clapton, Hendrix, Townshend, and Gilmour among others.
What's it for? Is there some difference in sound? Or does it keep strings in tune for longer somehow?
I tried to get to second base with my strat and she gave me horrible feedback. But I love her none the less. She has a good rack though.
What’s the different between the Mexican and US model ?
is the Mexican beginner model like a squire ? Or is it just cuz it’s not made in the USA ?
HI - in my opinion I believe the MIM or Mexico model is a notch above the Squire model. Both good guitars for sure. Then the American made is a few notches above the Mexico model as far as build quality and fit and finish - and so the price reflects these bump ups in quality - as with most guitars. But so much depends on the sounds and playing preferences of the individual player - dont go by price but rather what sounds best to your ears and feels best in your hands - just my opinion. Take care and keep on rocking! -David Taub, Next Level Guitar Inc.
I have a Fender American Standard Stratocaster is 2011 model im gonna fine out on Fender Website
Does anyone know how to put the yellow color in the red line of the video when it's reading video?. Thx Nice advice in this show.
Why would you want to know what year your guitar was made?
so if i have a strat from 1992 is sounds better than a 2009 model?
i just got a 96 strat same color and MIM
I think you're supposed to take it to the movies first before you plan on touching it. BAZINGA
@SirFightsalot its probably a 2010 one
nice video.! very useful..! well i am planning to buy this, always wanted a strat badly. So i just wanted to know weather the mexican strats are very good? are they 75% atleast like a american strat?
well i am buying an HSS strat :)
If the Jim Root tele is made in mexico, why doenst it have a serial number that starts with M?
Love the way my Strat plays hate the way it sounds I have 1 fender I have 4 Gibson's ,
Hi and thank u for watching this lesson - most appreciated! And be sure and check out some other videos on the channel as lots of killer content and fun lessons and please subscribe to the channel. MX, my mexican strat
MX17974 what year please
Me and my Mexican Stratocaster were thinking of taking it to the next level.
(Actually, I don't own a Mexican Stratocaster yet.)
I have a '92 classic player tele. When will it become vintage?
hahaha nice one latino strat you make myy day thank you..
MIM Strat a good beginner guitar? I don't think so, it plays just as well as an American, mine is modded and it's the bee's knees! A beginner guitar would be a Les Paul, because they're so easy to play, a beginner would have an easier time with the action on a les paul.
oh! Thanks!
that was a useful video, thanks david. Question: I found a mex strat in local casheez store (in Australia) and I have dated the guitar as 2006-07 by the ser no, how do I find out the model and specs?? it has dual pickups (humbucker) at the bridge and a dark wood in the fretboard, is that rosewood?? it plays OK and I am tempted to buy it.
Mine start with mx181.... does it mean 2018 ?
Hey mr David the Mexican Start is real guitar or fake
@Guitarstring187 have you heard its rage (sound) OH MY GOD DUDE, just omg....i've got a epiphone les paul myself, it sounds awesome, humbucks and shit
Okay just bought a Mexican strat. And the pickups are good but the silver dots inside the pickups are uneven, like some will be high and some are low. Does that mean anything?
Hey can anyone tell me how the pickups are in a Mid nineties American made strat .....a 97-98 i see one on CL that i might buy
what about the telecasters?
hi am new to guitar and I have a broken string lol, but the thing is that now I want to change all the strings and I've browse the web and I've found some various kind of strings and the problem is that what kind of string should I consider when I play rock, metal and blues stuffs thanx. NOTE: I have a fender stratocaster mexican made 2004-2005 and am limiting me to fender strings is it ok or is there some better brand out there to put on my fender guitar??
@backinblack751 could be 2001 as in MZ1
Do a vid on dating a Yamaha now that company has a complicated system of dating.
how do you tell if a strat is american or mexican cause i wanna american one
Dave, you actually dismantle guitars? Why?
