I've done it all this way and it doesn't work again. Only blue and red come out on the test. The printer persistently reports that it is empty. What more can I do?

Thanks for the clear instructions. The TS3151 has no way to reuse these cartridges. I have tried everything and the printer won't accept them. Cleaning cycles, anything. The printer just identifies as the old empty ones.
I have that model of ink and printer, cant perform cleaning cycle...it always ask to do a test to know if it needs cleaning and then after when you click cleaning, it does nothing...still i filled theblack ink cartridge and it worked and now i know how to fill the color one when i need it. Try to use flatted cotton buds for Ear, it helps cleaning the mess easily.

Should the cartridge be reset? Or can it be used immediately after refilling?
It can be used immediately after refilling. There is no need to reset it. Just keep the holding of the "RESUME" button in mind when your printer eventually thinks the cartridge is empty.

With the need to drill has anyone had issues with micro shavings falling into the individual ink chambers causing blockages? Or not working as well as it should?
drilled 5 of those and to serious problems.

Hello this refill action you demonstrate is not the right way to refill the cartridge My advise open the to lid from the backside of the cardridge with a strong knife this (is possible ) then you look inside the cardridge completely . Then you take the cardrige and start to put the ink very slowly in the last compartment (ink pad ) The cardridge should be bend ( just a little bit forward )you will see a slow colour change and that the ink is also slowly going to the the compartments in front. Only the pad has to be wet so no ink on top of the pad .
Advantage: 1, You see what you are doing.
2. you need no gloves or get dirty hands.
3. you work very clean.
4. only the ink pad has enough ink and there is no overfilling of the compartment.
5. there is no ink spread or coming out from the printing side.
6. your cartridge is refilled as it is filled in origin.
You put the lid on top and you can fix it with a piece of tape. Put it into the printer and have printing fun.

Unplug power cable for a minute or two plug it back in power it back up just leave it for about 5-minutes whatever you do don't press cancel or reset button Wrexham me everytime

Guy Gibson it works, but you still have the two lights on, like the printer is without ink. At least for me is ok for now.

I cannot recommend doing that. You really should use ink that is intended for use in an inkjet printer. Thankfully universal cyan, magenta and yellow ink is readily available online and pretty cheap.
No, its not recommended to do that. The ink in the printer has a different density and chemical composition, if you fill up the cartridge with any other ink you risk in damaging the cartridge permanently. Use only ink that is certified for Inkjet or certified directly for Cannon printers.
Can this be done also for the TR4550 printer? They also use the CL-546 cartridge
Printer ink is cheaper then buying new ink cartridges.
