- EPISODE #146: Ted asks about striving for the narrow door when “no one seeks after God” and how to get from here to there. Rod talks about the Reformers using the passive voice about ‘being repented’, describes the sinner’s condition, our temptation to synergism in our sin, and how the faith comes to us, with a focus on the Object of our faith outside of us.

Thank you for this message. You can't hear this enough to finally turn off those constant voices in your head: what if I don't have faith enough? what if I haven't repented enough?
Rod and Dad this message had me totally undone in tears of great joy and thanksgiving to Jesus…who came, lived, died and lives again FOR ME!!!! FOR ME!!! FOR ME!!!! ❤🎉💃
The most beautiful precious words I’ve ever heard …FOR ME!!!
I just can’t stop declaring that (and to be honest it’s almost unbelievable to wrap my head around it - but my heart leaps for joy!)
You just don’t hear these very simple but profoundly glorious words in most churches or from the majority of preachers.
Oh, I thank God so very much for you both! 🙌♥️
I am so encouraged. I can not help myself at all. It’s only done by Jesus. I know it is true😇
Command what Thou will, Oh Lord. And grant what Thou command. Amen.
I love that! what Rod said, there's nothing more for you to do, relax!! 👍 And Ted really good analogy about the wheel and spokes and ,,,,For! 👍 I really enjoyed this whole talk! Keep em going!
Thank you for the superb christian teaching of yours.
Good Stuff!
If it isn't finished then we are doomed to strive to achieve self salvation.
"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." Romans 10:4
Rod & Dad: I’d like to ask you if you would please answer a question (or do a video in response to it) about the Scriptures in Matthew 7:17-18 & Luke 6:43 that talks about the good tree and the bad tree. Can a Christian be a bad tree when they say, think or do bad things? Do we stop being a good tree? Or are we always a good tree despite our “fruit”? I just can’t understand what Jesus meant and to be honest it causes me to doubt if I’m truly saved at times. Can you please address these Scriptures and what that means to believers? Thank you so much for your ministry. 😊
@Paulette Rose You got it. I've copied your comment here for us to talk about during our next pre-production meeting.
@@tedrosenbladt9976 THANK YOU! 😊
Sounds a bit calvinistic. Where do you differ from Calvin as a Lutheran?
Here’s the rub… it is Biblical. Lutheran, Calvinistic , Reformed are Protestant all. Where we differ is not in Soteriology, but in ecclesiology and our understanding of Christ’s essence in the observance of the Lord’s Supper.
@@sufficientlyrandom8184 that is not what I meant. He sounds very Calvinist to me and not Lutheran. Both are monergistic. But as a Lutheran of course I don't believe in double Predestination. Which is what I believe to hear
@@Dilley_G45 I apologize.
Let me, then, try to flesh that out a bit.
So far as I understand, there are two takes on Double Predestination. Only one is Biblical.
As a Calvinist, I too object to the one that is not Biblical. That, after all, is what matters. Don’t you agree?
It’s a matter of how God works (or doesn’t). God does not work positively in double predestination for both (emphasis “both”) the children of wrath and the children of God. I think we both agree that God does work positively for those He has chosen from before the foundation of the world. But he does choose not to save (regenerate, convert, preserve in perseverance, etc) those He overlooked in His Decree to give a people from all tribes, tongues, nations and kindred to His Son. This is the second prong of Biblical “Double Predestination” and it is a Negative work of God.
Positive-Positive Double Predestination is NOT Biblical. In other words, God does not work (positively) to send people to Hell. He merely leaves these in the lump of unregenerate and rebellious people we all once were. This is based on His Decree to Predestine some to eternal life.
Therefore, in Theology it is proper to recognize a Positive-Negative view of Predestination (saying Double is really superfluous) because it is Biblical.
I do assume that Lutheran Theologians agree, but I accept that there may be some who don’t. As it is with all who are reformed.
Semper Reformanda: “Reformed and always being reformed”
I will make it a point to watch this video again paying particular attention to this point.
I hope and pray my flawed presentation of this issue gives you food for thought.
Grace and peace, brother. May we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Deo Volente
@@sufficientlyrandom8184 no I disagree with double predestination. There are no two ways of it. Double or single you can't have it both ways. Double Predestination is wrong, we are not chosen before birth. This would negate Jesus work on the cross entirely if we were chosen for up or down even before Jesus did his work on the cross. Furthermore it would make sind and repentance impossible. God would be the author of evil because without free will you can't sin and you cannot repent either. The Bible asks as to have faith, to teach sound doctrine, to not fall away. If we couldn't do this the Bible would be redundant. And no we Lutherans aren't Calvinists. You guys like to claim Luther but you select certain quotes to make him sound Calvinist. Lutheranism is not Calvinism. We have to respond to God. That's why we have the holy spirit as our helper, thanks to our regeneration through baptism (which Calvinists also reject)
…continued
I think we (a Lutheran and a Calvinist) agree much more than is let on. In my readings of both Calvin and Luther, I see that they do.
In reality, there really are only three main theologies (Pelagian, Semi-Pelagian, and Augustinian). The first is really anti-Christian, the latter is sound and most Biblical. While semi-Pelagian is orthodox (unfortunately) it is a compromise. Both Lutherans and Calvinists fall under the Augustinian umbrella of Christianity.
But I digress. Regarding the issue at hand, I did not hear Double Predestination in this video. Perhaps I missed something.
Would you mind sharing with me what you heard as sounding Calvinist (Double Predestination)?
It’s not even about our sins. It’s about the sin of Adam. And death that passed on to us. He died for the Sin of Adam. Our sins are just a symptom. Not the cause. That’s why Jesus cursed the roots for the tree and not the branches.
"Love being Lutheran"....I agree!
