Best theme song, best atmosphere, terribly small map. Rockstar desperately needs to remake this.

Yes, but I wish they'd remake the game with a properly sized map and considerably more realism in NPC interaction.
The map need more variety areas to go, like swamp areas and tropical rainforest since Vice City is based from Miami.

Still very sad to hear, out of any of the stars in Goodfellas I never expected him to pass away first. But no matter what he was a terrific actor and all the GTAs I played as a kid, Tommy was my favorite protagonist. Vice City was my first GTA and being able to play a character voiced by Ray Liotta just solidifies this game as one of the greatest of all time. Sorry CJ fans, Ray was a made man and Carl wasn't. You'll just have to sit there and take it.

I was born in 1994, Vice City came out in 2002, I was 8 years old.
I'll never forget going round my mate's house and seeing this intro for the first time.
Everything about it changed the way I saw games forever. The music, the graphics, the atmosphere. It makes me reminisce a decade I never saw.
Great game making, will never see anything else come close.
Too bad San andreas fanboys will never understand how vice city was.

GTA San Andreas has the best gameplay, but Vice City kills it with the setting and the general vibe. Damn this 80's mood is so good.

Vice city is probably my favorite GTA game of all time because of its spot on atmosphere, music and nostalgia but let's not kid ourselves, you can't even compare VC's story to IV. IV's was dark, long and simply amazing.

I know we can easily find them on the Internet nowadays, but I wonder how those cheat codes were first discovered.
I remmeber way back in 2002 i was like 7 and my neighbor would always come to my house to play this game during the weekend and we would take turns. I remember when I first played Gta III i thought it was so cool because of the open world experience, and i pretended that i would drive around the city and talk to people. Then Gta vice city came out and you can ride air planes, and it was such a feeling that i can probably never experience again now that im alot older. it's funny, as a kid, everything amazing adds that sparkle to your life. The simplest things can give you that special emotion. Im pretty some of you know what im saying
and now that older and i understand how games are made, scripting, coding and everything, i feel that made me lose my sense of touch with games. Now when something crazy happends i knew it was scripted to be in the game.
I remember when I 4 years old and I would sneak into my older brother's room and play this, then I would get in trouble either my mom or my brother LOL but you're right as you get older you kinda lose touch, like I play GTA 5 all the time but it just isn't the same.

GTA 5 is great, but Vice City and San Andreas are really special. And not only because they are childhood memories. These games are classy, stylish and atmospheric. After many years I still play and I will play them again and again, but not 4 and 5 (unless it's last GTA).
Don't forget the one that made GTA the way it is today which is GTA 3.

They even stated that during the middle of the process, they got tired of his "Hollywood attitude" cause everytime he came to the R* department and saw all the MOKAP and cameras, Ray laughed at it , saying that "In hollywood we have better movie techniques compared to what you have in this studio.."
COnstantly discrediting R* team, in the end they ended the work but R* has stated several times that if they knew how narcissistic he was they would had picked a random guy

Rockstar should go back to doing period games, they are/were really good at capturing an era. Vice City & San Andreas had an atmosphere about them that the others lacked (especially vice city, the setting of that game is far more convincing than a lot of 'cutting edge' games). There's still plenty of fertile ground. I'd like to see San Fiero in the 60s, or Las Venturas in the 50s. The mafia crackdown of the 70s/80s with RICO could make for a really interesting game. Or even better, new cities! Like the gta equivalent of Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia etc..
It probably wouldn't sell as well as something like gta v though, which is sad. GTA is so popular now & there's so much money riding on it that they can't take as many risks as they used to.

Liam J EXACTLY. GTA 4 and 5 are boring and the problem is the atmosphere. They tried to make GTA a real life simulator, not a game. Not to mention the storyline is as predictable as modern rubbish Hollywood action movies. I have completed both 4 and 5 and I have to say I'd rather spend 100 hours on VC and SA than 20 hours on 4 and 5.
If Rockstar can make LA Noire and RDR, then why GTA have to be different and boring? IMO, Rockstar should go back and watch old school Hollywood movies to remember how to capture an era like Vertigo (60s San Fran) and Casino (70s Las Vegas). I'd suggest Chinatown (30s LA) and The Godfather (40s NY) too if there aren't similar games already. lol.

This game was closer to 1984 (time game takes place) when it was released than we are now to the release of the game (2002).

Actually I work for Rockstar north in Edinburgh and I probably shouldn't say this but it's true, GTA 6 will be Vice City, and the map will be 10x larger than GTA 5 map. Also will support the Vive and be an MMORPG elements to it. SHIT WHY DID I WRITE THAT SHIT SHIT SHIT I could get into so much trouble I should probably stop writing.
