    • @hyprian
      @hyprian  5 лет назад +5

      Most Strokers have Cadence but they do NOT put as much POWER into the stroke... I pretend I"m in SEAT #4 in terms of BLADE PRESSURE... but my cadence is entirely dependent on WATER FEEL and how my crew behind me FEELS in RESPONSE... If the canoe cannot maintain the hull speed I back it off to let everyone bring their heart rate down about 20 beats and GO AGAIN ...

    • @pcatful
      @pcatful 2 года назад

      As a stroker, I think #2 is the make or break position. 1 and 2 in sync and the rest of the canoe can really work it.

    Your very cool tutorial video was such a well set out for a refresher for me to get my eyes back on a good paddle technique. I've been off the water for awhile now , working towards V1/W1 here in NZ racing again soon.

    Many of our friends and guests ask what we do on weekends ... Paddling with Friends and competing with other friends in Outrigger Canoe Racing, the origin of Paddleboarding techniques and cultural vessel for the Hawaiian Lifestyle.
    Sprint Regatta Racing uses ONLY Traditional KOA CANOES, made and lovingly maintained for decades. Every Canoe is different but has to follow weight and waterline restrictions.

    Hi Ian,
    how is the effectiveness of the seat one non-ama side pry vs a conventional UNI pry during the apex of the turn? I've been taught a few methods and have never seen anyone do a seat one pry. Your first turn in the video looked quite on point and effective. I may suggest doing that technique next time we try doing buoy turn practices where I paddle.

      Aloha, It really depends on the PREFERENCE of the STEERSMAN and the boat's "TURNABILITY" - the goal is the SPIN as tight and fast as possible. I personally prefer to come over ASAP to AMA side to help PULL the nose over but my partner in crime Steersman is so good I don't have to do that.... I just KEEP PADDLING as much as possible

    The guy sitting seat 2 is behind, he's using all arms. He needs to reach more and use more lower back and toes , and speed up, think pull water before the last stroke is done , My coach, Bruce Ayau, once told me he was with Kai O'pua because he wanted to win. Do you want to win?
