I started to see bodies throughout Medellin. They make you lie down next to dead bodies. You watch people get killed and you eat human flesh. It’s a life of terror.

Before we can discuss the brutal ways people are punished for betraying drug lords, we must clarify what qualifies as betrayal.
The cartel world is particularly sensitive when it comes to betrayal. Drug lords have fragile egos, inflated by money and power but still vulnerable and desperate not to be offended.
If their power is threatened in any way - even if someone looks at them the wrong way - they consider it within their rights to remove that threat.
Sadly, drug lords won’t just remove a threat. They will make an example out of it so that other people think twice before offending them or going against them.
