- In this video I will test cheap 18650 cells to see if they are worth anything. I will also compare them with more expensive cells and check which ones are more profitable.

The sanyo would have gotten pretty much exactly the promised 3.5Ah if you'd discharged to the 2.5V cutoff specified in the datasheet.
People are stupid if they believe 18650 can hold 12000mah
oh yeah! the best 18650 has 3500mah. "china" markup ugg
As a warning to any of you who want to cut open your cells to check for this, the wrapper is there because the entire outer case is the negative terminal.
Once removed it is trivial to short your hand or tool on it by accident.
Do not do this without hand protection in a well ventilated area.
lol or just discharge the battery to 0v...?
Really interesting test results. I'll have to keep this in mind for future projects. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent testing, Maciej! Thanks!!! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks for sharing your results. Confirmed my suspicions.
Thank you for review. I see that branded cells have a more quality
I was waiting for such battery test. Where to buy the Samsung or Sanyo cells? Where do you buy them?
Pozdrawam z Czech =)
Very interesting, thank You! 👍🏻
Unfortunately, on the most popular Polish auction site, 8800mAh 18650cells are still the most popular, and this is a promoted offer. Such products should be removed from site as scam. Capacity does not come from nowhere - light battery = low capacity. Just wait for the producers of this crap to add sand to their "product".
lithium ion cells have limitation to 3500mAh capacity in 18650 shape. If you see anything more = SCAM. It should be banned.
Very very good! Bravo!😁
Good point! Thanks.
my favorite source for 18650s is battery packs from dead laptops. they're usually full of samsungs.
same here, got no end from local tip, most 18650 cells are perfectly fine, only one or two in the pack are trully dead.
Very interesting
Good review, but you shouldn't have masked the no-name "brands". It would have been helpful to see them. Of course, I do suspect that a lot of these Chinese junk products just change their branding names every few months, once their low quality has been identified by the consumers. It seems that Amazon provides an easy sales platform for these garbage products from batteries to electronics and even clothing now.
Myth busting! Nice work.
Wow great info
You're genuinely quite a polymath in the various engineering fields Maciej. Whereabouts are you in the world?
Highly probably Poland.
❤❤❤❤❤
The 18650 battery can't have a capacity greater than 3600 mAh
Mało wiesz mały człowieku. Wpisz w google jakie ogniwa robi BAK albo EVE. Nigdy więcej nie pisz bzdur.
Only 50C??? I got 180C from an ultrafire... Just before it 'went nuclear' on me.
On a different Ultrafire, I tried to discharge it at 1C (9900mA)... It never made it to 1C, not even for a millisecond.
Many of these are just rewrapped cells from who-knows-what source. Old laptops. Old electric car batteries. Again, who knows. They put fake caps on each end so they are longer, but sometimes the real manufacturer is on the side of the stripped cell.
They are like the old lead acid batteries!
The more they weigh, the more juice they can provide.
Chinese mAH is not like ours. They add a worthless zero to the end.
iPhones batteries have 5m alu foil inside.
Show the brands ?
Just avoid batteries that are giving ultrafire vibes lol
You'll know the design and font when you see them
@@NutScrewGamer There's also the fact that those cheap Chinese crap batteries change their branding and company name and all that every so often to stay under the radar and keep selling e-waste on Amazon, and the reason this crap keeps going on is because people high in our economic and governmental ladders are colluding with China to make money, so fixing the problem is unprofitable for them.
@@Avetho I guess it's good to pass the ones that are too good to be true. I had a big powerbank once. It claimed 10000mah capacity.
It just died one day and I decided to harvest the battery. 5 batteries total. 3 was filled with sand. Opened it because it sounded weird when shaking and there's no continuity. The other two were light.
Sadly I don't have the equipment to test battery capacities. Threw all of them away
@@NutScrewGamer After my S7's new-old-stock OEM battery, rated at 3000mAh, went nuclear in my pocket, I had to get another to transfer its data to my newish S10, but the battery was a little lighter than the old one and had the sheer gall to claim 5800mAh. I maintain that its a part of China's plans to cripple the West and take over global trade, and with BRICS on the rise, now I know that I was entirely right DX
Just cheap e-waste that we've been taught to not be able to live without.
Some Chinese deep cycle batteries, the big ones, are filled with concrete and a small battery put in the middle of the big case. Makes it seem like a legit battery because of the weight. Consumer rip off. Buyer beware.
I would request you to make a cheap and fun electric scooter
