    Thank you for this Austin! It's been a couple of years since I've used PS and I needed a refresher on this subject. You're straight to the point which I really appreciate. Also, I'm excited about the auto align feature. I know I bumped my tripod slightly and wrote those shots off, but it's good to know that I might be able to salvage them. 🙏 Keep up the fantastic work! 👏

    A like and subscribe based on this video alone. Do you know how long I looked for something like this? Every video just dives right into the edit with explaining order of images or BINGO... the different types of masks. I'm using this technique for bottle product photography. Its much easy to light the bottle at different stages and combine them however, it gets super confusing with multiple images. You are a hero . Thank you !

    Get the picture but a little clearer explanation of masking might help newer editors. The mechanism follows video editing where the top layer is always superimposed on the layers beneath. So, in essence we are trying to improve the bottom image by letting through parts of the superimposed shots, thus, the masking reference. We are thus applying a total cover or mask on the top but punching holes in it to let through its superior traits over the bottom image.

    • @AustinJamesJackson
      @AustinJamesJackson  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the advice! This explanation works well except when you do something like merge all visible. Now you aren’t trying to improve the bottom layer, you’re trying to improve the highest layer without a mask on it. Definitely a difficult thing to explain with so many different scenarios.

    When you said combined all visible what does it mean? I'm sorry I'm a newbie

    • @AustinJamesJackson
      @AustinJamesJackson  Год назад +1

      No worries! This just creates a stamped copy (new layer) of everything below it! It puts it into a single layer on top.

      Yes! It would just require much more painting to add black to the mask.

    • @AustinJamesJackson
      @AustinJamesJackson  10 месяцев назад

      Hmm. Must have something to do with the mask not being set up correctly, or you are painting on a mask on the bottom layer, rather than the top layer. Hard to diagnose the problem without seeing it.

    Does the resulting merged photo has more megapixels?

    • @AustinJamesJackson
      @AustinJamesJackson  5 месяцев назад +1

      It would not unless you are adding to an area you don’t already have in the original.

    • @zarrir

      @@AustinJamesJackson thank you ! In this case, if you do not align the layers before combining them, you would probably get a higher megapixels image probably

    You brought 4 stacked Images into PS. Why 4 images when you only when you only used 3 for your edits?

    • @AustinJamesJackson
      @AustinJamesJackson  Год назад +4

      I actually used all 4! Since I put layer masks on the top 3, the bottom image was used as the base layer, so anywhere I masked out on the top images showed through on the 4th bottom image. Hope that makes sense!
