So glad you call out unethical things within the shop. For the most part it looks like they take great care of the tanks and fish look healthy. With those fancy goldfish they've been bred in ways that make them so prone to disease and illness, I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy those even if they may look 'cool'
@@OscarLewisFilms Sad reality of it. A lot of these shops rely on casuals that don't know any better and will go for the weirdest, most colorful fish they can see.
The old version of this aquarium was basically my childhood. I used to hang out there (or at least tried to) while my parents went shopping at the store nearby. The turtles were my favourite, but the variety kept me there. Nice to see some coverage
I love how you called out the water in those cups was so little. I dont think because their are new betta fish coming they should neglect the old ones.
Yeah, that was really disturbing. The answer "New ones are coming" .. and? They seem to have plenty of water in the store. The cups are too small too. What's wrong with people?!😡

Idk how I chanced on this channel, but I live literally 5 minutes away from this shopping centre, KM Trading, and I've seen this store sooooo many times when grocery shopping with the fam. Never gave it a second thought. Really cool to know what they've got in there.
Hehe I spent 9 months over there. Except for maybe the high end stores, you wont find a Dubai citizen working in a store. You might find a high up manager but not a worker bee. I loved THE Dubai mall and its aquarium. Only place I have been where you can spend time looking at the aquarium, go to PF Changs(their version of a mall McDonalds) next to it and go across the hall and randomly come across a dark room with a full size dinosaur skeleton. And then there is the water show and Berge Khalifa just outside. Neat video, it brough me back a couple years
Definitely an interesting shop but it looks like they do a pretty good job, for the most part anyway. Room for improvement but they definitely do a lot better then I ever could.
This was the most beautiful fish store I’ve ever seen! I’m so glad you asked about the poor Betta’s in such little water and told them not to carry the paint injected fish! 🐟🐠🐡🌹💙
I truly respect your concern for the fish's quality of life, and I can only imagine how difficult it would be to call out unethical practices while 'on set'. In the moment, with the employees right there. You did well. The stock range is great but the choices being made here? Are not going to encourage appropriate and responsible aquarist behaviour. So pleased to see one of my fave RUclipsrs, who actually got me into reefing, doing the right thing.
There’s nothing to call out. It’s a fish store. They are not going to treat these fish like pets And so what you would do for them at home because the fish are not their pets, they are their product. I don’t like the conditions dogs are kept in at dog shelters, but none of those dogs are there to stay and therefore the living conditions aren’t set up for pet dogs
Thank you! You did a great job at understanding the challenges of selling fish but also knowing where change can happen to help this hobby thrive ethically.
ive been here for 6 years and i didnt know this shop exists, looking at the planted tanks in your video made me drool. I only knew the fish shops in karama but they were relatively small and the small planted tank are treated less than the ones in this shop. and i work nearby KM trading too, so ill drop by and assemble a nano tank soon
This video literally had me laughing out loud. I would have gone nuts in this store as well! And the rose ceremony cracked me up. Thanks for the laughs and visual delights. Hi from Australia 🇦🇺💚💛
As I understand it, the Arowana is a very ancient fish. They can be found both in Africa and the Amazon basin of So. America. The long ones are from the Amazon river and the short ones are from somewhere else. I lived in England for a while and there was a shop called Shelly Aquatics. I wonder if they are still in business. Their prices were high but their fish are excellent. (not was). Maybe they are still there.
That is actually a really cool, and well rounded store. I expected to walk into the run of the mill LFS, but I was wrong. It’s much more than that to say the least. All kinds of animals.
The last time I watched one of your videos it was close to you celebrating 10,000 subscribers! You've come so far, 1.2 million subscribers now! Crazy! I rewatched a couple of the videos and it makes me miss this hobby. I still have my 5ft tank but its been sat empty for years now. Anyway, your hard work over the years has clearly paid off. Congratulations!
OMG! I can't believe how lucky I am to be just around this fish shop. I bought all my fish and fish keeping supplies here. I didn't realize how exotic those other fishes are. More to learn for a beginner to the hobby. 🧐
If you identified that this store is exotic to you, I'd recommend you travelling to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I promise you that "exotic" is just the least fancy word you would use to describe how diverse they are ^^
What an awesome fish/flower store, their water is clean and Crystal clear, and they have soma amazing specimens for sale, just a great find George. 👍🏴

Can you do a guide for setting up salt water tanks. How to set up the water before adding the salt. Adding the salt. Setting up the tank with all equipment needed with a sump and without. Cycling the tank. Setting up the tank. Adding corral and fish. I’m new to salt water and haven’t seen/found a guide that covers all of this.
That arowana is an HBRTG (a crossbread between a crossback and the classic RTG arowanas). It's amazing how much it costs in other countries as it is really cheap in SE Asia (less than 200USD). Their price of 500USD is already the cost of a Super Red Arowana which is one of most beautiful if not the most sought after arowanas. Greetings from the Philippines. :)
I live in uae as well and if your in Sharjah there is bunch of fish stores at one place with animals like peacock deer as a pet there not to many exotic fish but some of theme ade

Good on you for calling them out on those dyed fish and bettas! The rest of the store looks pretty good though. Just have a feeling these guys will sell people whatever.

Same goes for most aquarium fish in the trade, bettas, flowerhorns, any balloon variety if fish, glo fish. The list is endless

flowerhorns are unethical too but all hobbyists tend to ignore that for some reason lol

Looked like due to the cups being sat on top of the heat from the led light causing quicker evaporation - either way not good for the betta fish

I love when he asked the guy to accept his rose how the guy grinned. It was cute.
Poor betta, very unethical and as a betta owner myself, it breaks my heart to see them in such small amounts of water.
He was saying they just came in. I think they were just un bagged and getting ready to be put into their holding tanks.
oooh look at me, im so disappointed oooh
All fish stores put bettas in cups it’s common knowledge really, but you can give bettas a better life
