During the current war in Ukraine, me and my friends have been running our diesel trucks on vegetable oil or motor oil. The filtration method you used here is good enough, but for better efficiency we use centrifugal machine made by us. The best way we use the fuel is by mixing it with diesel. we often go 70-30 ratio, 30 being diesel. The used motor oil gave us better performance than vegetable oil. Also, the need for better filtration is to remove water as well from the oils. Vegetable oil is better if you use a solvent and let it sit for a week before you mix it with diesel. Black diesel or used motor oil/lubricant can be used right away after filtration.

But the viscosity needs to be reduced. So I used turpentine or GP thinner or kerosene to reduce viscosity by using a homemade hydrometer using test tube, airgun pellets and wax. This 'diesel' I used in our jeep fitted with OM616 engine. No starting issues or loss of power. For past several years used oil at home is collected and used in my Palio 1.9D and Duster. But it is used more to keep diesel prices low. So I blend it into the diesel, maximum 25%. Prior to use I add 10% Thinner or turpentine to the oil and agitate and leave it for a few days. This helps make the oil crystal clear by pulling solids and water content to the bottom. Engine is super smooth with veggie oil addition. I think it compensates the low sulfur content in modern diesels and thus acts as a lubricant substitute for pump and injectors.

The best solution is to have a second tank + low pressure pump + fuel filter allowing you to switch back and forth like those LPG conversion kits. So you start on diesel (no cold start issues) , switch to waste oil once the engine is warm, and then you switch back to regular diesel before you turn it off...so it does one clean of the injectors. Nice experiment. One suggestion. You should have waited for one more day and showed how does it respond on cold sart. Also could have done a comparison of emissions gases with diesel and this fuel to make the experiment more scientific
