You (and the local dive shops) will enjoy your trip! Note that we posted a Devil's Grotto swim through video yesterday. We were told that those swim throughs are overflowing with schools of silversides each spring, so be sure to check those out when you are there. Let us know what you see. Travel safely!

Top 5 shore diving sites with dive shops & restaurants: 1) Eden Rock 2) Lighthouse Point 3) Sunset House 4) Cobalt Coast (now called Nova) 5) Turtle Reef (now called Macubuca). All 5 have has awesome shore dives and allows free snorkeling. Something for the whole family.

All favorite spots for us...although we weren't able to dive Cobalt Coast/Nova during our last visit as they were closed as a quarantine facility during the Covid outbreak. It's definitely on our list for next time.

Your video was incredible, so professionally done and edited. The dive spot was amazing so many different fish and corals. I can't wait to get to Grand Cayman. I would love to know what both of you use for video/photography underwater, what type of camera?

We are so glad you appreciate the work that goes into those. While it is a hobby, it keeps us out of trouble. :-) Leslie and I had our first dive trip together at Sunset House, so it holds a special place in our hearts. (That said, Devil's Grotto became a new favorite in 2021.)
As for the video set-up, I was using a SeaLife SportDiver with an iPhone 12 and Kraken Hydra 8000 lights at the time. Since then, I've used a Hot Dive H2 housing (iPhone 13) and am currently on the Divevolk SeaTouch 4 with an iPhone 14. Some folks aren't into the phone as an underwater camera thing, but if you have any specific questions let me know. Leslie has a much more traditional set-up.
Hi Linda - you will love Grand Cayman. It is a beautiful island with so much to do and enjoy. It will spoil you for other islands. You must dive Devil's grotto or Macabuca while you are in GC. These are beautiful dives with very diverse marine life. As far as what camera I use - typically I shoot with a Nikon D850 in a Nauticam housing with INON z330 strobes which weighs in approximately 18 lbs out of the water. Since my illnes and accident, I am using a much lighter setup which consists of a TG6 and the INON strobes. I started out using the Backscatter MiniFlash 2 which is great for macro shots, but I need more light for the turtles, squid and octopus.
Are a photographer or videographer? If so, what type of equipment do you have?

@@TropicLens You guys are amazing, thank for all of the information and about the area. Your set ups sounds wonderful though 18 lbs would be a bit heavy for my arms. I am just an amateur photographer, that loves to snorkel, only scuba dived once and loved that too. I just like to bring home the memories and am shopping for some underwater cameras. I was thinking about the Go Pro Hero 11, but I do like the thought of just getting the housing for my phone. Thanks again, appreciate you guys!

I just wanted to thank you for your excellent videos. My partner and I are here in Grand Cayman and have watched your videos to guide us on our dives. Your videos are informative and high quality! Well done. You earned yourself subscribers and we hope you continue making videos!

Oh, sorry I missed this comment Monica. We are so glad you like the videos. Unfortunately, we just heard about the cruise ship docked in front of Devil's Grotto. Even if its only for a day, the engine noise and churn can negatively impact the sea life. Hopefully, future ships can/will avoid that space. If you get a chance and you haven't seen our video on that one, definitely put it on your list! :-)

@@TropicLens we did watch your Devil’s Grotto/Eden Rock video too! And we did a shore dive to Eden’s Rock the day the cruise ship was docked super close and it was freaky loud. I kept looking up and around because it sounded like the ship was on top of us and we could feel the vibrations throughout the dive. The port authorities response to the complaint was disheartening 😔 but it was still a great dive. Thanks again for your incredible content!
