What's the scariest thing about this scene was that even as he was seen, he didn't flinch or move a muscle. Like an actual bat, he only started moving the moment shots were fired. Till then, he just stared, totally undisturbed and motionless.
The setting. The lights. The dialogues. Zack sets up the dark knight like a ghoul out of a horror movie and it's perfect. Imagine an entire movie with this tone.
Jesus...The fact that he was able to be so calm and steady during that situation. Even he started moving like an actual bat when going through the wall and ceiling. Batfleck nailed it.
That's where the usual "I dress like a bat to put fear into the heart of my enemies" starts to make real sense. Batman is supposed to be an horror story, almost an urban legend, criminals tell to scare each other, something they can't even believe in until they see him with their own eyes. If I was a criminal and I see that shit coming after me and survive, I would shit my pants and never commit any crime after that.

Nolan's take on the character focused in the same aspects as well, reason why it was also great.
@@kevklash I disagree. Batman doesn't want to be looked at as a hero (technically, I would say none of the heroes do seeing as they continue their work even during times the various governments and societies don't want them to) but he shouldn't be portrayed this way. Ruthless. Merciless. Horrifying. Devilish. Demonic. Who would feel safe under Batman's surveillance? Why would Commissioner Gordon help a borderline psychopath? He's just cruel. The women being terrified of him is not cool nor is that how they should feel knowing Batman saved them. Batman may be a lot of things but he is above all - deep down - a compassionate *Hero* for the people.
@@arcane9205 And I also disagree. That's why I mentioned that you never at least took a look at the source materials(call them comic books if you like). Look, people needs to start taking things with maturity and stop trying to change other people mind and opinions. You got your opinion, I got mine. Mine will not change, yours will not either, but let's also talk facts. DC is a multiverse, and there are plenty of versions of Batman being sick of fighting crime after loosing people he loved(does it sound familiar to you?). He started acting like this after that. This is a great take on the character, no matter how hard you or other people try to deny it, lots of people are raving because we will finally get to see the continuation of this in ZS Justice League.
@@kevklash I'm not trying to change your opinion just because I disagree lol. Also, I have read many Batman comics. I'm doing so right now and I learn anything - literally ANYTHING - new about Batman I can. And, in A Death In The Family, when Jason Todd dies, Batman does actually try to kill Joker and would've if not for Superman's self interjection. But, in A Lonely Place Of Dying, Batman starts to push people away and also turns to technically self harm himself as punishment for losing Jason. *This* is what Batman would do after losing people he loved. He didn't brand anyone. He still kept on superheroing. Because Batman hates himself and so he attacks himself whenever he finds an error or fails or whatever. But he would never give up on people, especially the people of *Gotham City.* This is just a poor portrayal of a hurting Batman in my opinion. That's all I wanted to say.
I loved this scene. It showed how after so many years Batman was still this myth. To the women, he was some sort of demon. They were thankful it saved them but feared being out in the open with whatever it was. We've definitely never seen that angle with Batman before.

People seem to forget that Batman has been at this for 20 years. He’s lost a Robin, watched criminals go to prison and come back doing the same thing and now there’s a god-like figure one city over. Him branding criminals, definitely murdering people, and being hell bent on killing Superman was part of his arc of returning to why he became Batman in the first place. CinemaWins goes into more depth on what his arc is (highly recommend that channel) Edit: Not to mention witnessing the destruction of a large chunk of a city in what amounted to a fist fight between two gods among mortals
@Jayden Olson I don't know if it was ever stated directly, but going by the comics and the fact that Nightwing and Oracle don't exist (at the moment), Jason is most likely the one who died. Film theory actually has. a video theorizing that the Joker in _Suicide Squad_ isn't actually *the* Joker, but a tortured, broken and mentally deranged Jason Todd who was captured by the actual Joker and Harley Quinn
@Jayden Olson Same here, although it would be difficult to top the animated movie that came out years ago. I have heard there's a soft reboot of Suicide squad happening (maybe it was in the form of _Birds of Prey)_ and that might allow for Red Hood to make an appearance. Now that I think about it, Batman was turning into Red Hood throughout the movie. He was willing to kill, being excessively brutal, even fine with going up against a god among men on the chance that he could destroy the world if he snapped
@Jayden Olson Agreed. Although I wish they cut back on him making jokes, along with having more of a presence around the other members that put hm on equal footing regardless of his lack of powers (e.g. _"do_ you talk to fish?") Hopefully if we do see Red hood, they delve into his feelings of betrayal and seeing how throwing criminals in jail isn't enough. There could be an awesome scene where Bruce can sympathize and understand that perspective. He could reflect on his past actions to try and help Jason come back home. It would almost be like Bruce seeing a reflection of what he was in BvS, and try to truly make up for what happened to Jason as well as all he did in his rampage on crime.
And people say pattinsons Batman was the first time they were scared of Batman. This is a Batman that hides in the shadows staring at you from the ceiling, brands you, and has lost his moral code with age. This is by far the scariest Batman ever, sad we weren’t able to get his backstory a bit more on how he lost his code
Pattinsons entrance was WEAK compared to this. All he did was step out of a staircase into the light and say “im vengeance”. The first time you saw this, your heart was pumping. Best Batman reveal ever.
In this movie we see Jason Todds robin suit and Jokers brand on it suggesting that the origin of the Red Hood was cannon in this universe. Its also the oldest version of batman we have seen so far suggesting that he had come to a decision to overcome his moral code to be a better batman.
Uhh Batman is the EMBODIMENT of hope. I get this is a different version of the character to the traditional comic depiction but Batman without hope is just a b-rate Punisher or Red Hood
A Batman who crouches in the shadows and not saying a single word is a lot more scarier than a Batman who constantly speaks like he has a sore throat. This takes the fear concept to frightening new levels and shows you that Batman is more than just the dark knight, he's a creature of the night who strikes fear into the hearts of evil. Just imagine what a Batman DCEU solo movie would have been like, it would have been so epic.

People hate on Snyder, but his scenes are straight off comic book visuals. It’s debatable that he brings more form than substance to the table, but what his movies lack in one thing definitely makes up for it in the other. For the record, I think BvS has plenty of substance, but it just takes some repeated viewing (of the director’s cut especially) for it to be realized.
Vuknas I second that. Justice League was a flop, but you can’t fault Snyder because the reshoots, edits, etc. after Whedon had taken over just completely downgraded what were Snyder’s original scenes. That said, I am 100% incredibly excited for the Snyder cut when it is released.
@Jayden Olson but BvS wasn't a "flop" precisely. Sure, it didn't make the big bucks it should have, and it was torn apart by a large number of critics and "fans". But it still managed to make a pretty decent sum. This movie is nowhere near perfect but it sure as hell isn't the piece of crap some point it out to be. Most of it was jumping on the bandwagon. Batman in the movies has always been a guy who has been *stated* to strike fear into the hearts of the criminals in the city and is believed to be a supernatural entity . This is the first movie where you actually get to see that and get a sense of how intimidating Batman is . This is the first film where Batman's introductory scene is entirely by the POV of the naive police officer . We are just as clueless as he is and the camerawork is so effective that we seem to be following him along and as Batman is above him , we feel terrified for him and realize how powerless he is . He almost seems like a vampire from the office's perspective . He climbs across the wall and runs away faster than the blink of an eye and genuinely feels supernatural . Say whatever you wan to about Zack Snyder , but as a DCEU and MCU fan both , he easily has the best cinematography and the most distinct visual flairs . This is easily the most memorable introduction of Batman in a film besides perhaps Nolan's in Batman Begins but for entirely different reasons . We saw his intro in Batman Begins from his perspective and so appeared heroic but from the perspective of criminals and even police officers , he is a monster .
The Batman did this well too. Especially with that scene of the guy seeing the Signal and running away, almost getting hit by a car. Later when the wannabe thugs try and fight him just for him to beat the hell out of all of them.
This is Batman. To see him from this perspective, it BAFFLES me how many people didn’t like it. And now we’re never getting this mythical take on the character again. Insanity.
Why would anyone wanna see a Batfleck movie? We already have way too much Batman content to the point where it’s been done to death at this point, it’s almost it’s WB and DC’s security blanket. And this scene is no different, it’s been done to death at this point to where I have no desire to watch another take on Batman. Say what you want about Phase 4, but you can’t deny that it has done a great job at introducing new characters like Namor, Man-Thing, America Chavez, U.S Agent, Sylvie, other Loki variants, Ms. Marvel, Yelena, Kate Bishop, Ironheart, Moon Knight, Shang-Chi (my boi), and the list goes on. Meanwhile, DC and WB is still over saturating Batman ignoring their other characters.
@@luisquintero7359 there's never been a Batman portrayal as dark as this, yeah theres been a lot of content but its oversaturated with the same stuff. THIS, is something different
Simple, because as cool as it is, Batman doesn't kill people. It completely undermines why he is Batman to begin with. Batman would never want to leave a child feeling alone like he does, which is exactly what he would do if he went around killing people, hence the reason he does not kill, because he would just become Joe Chill to someone else.
This is a vigilante who could strike terror into the hearts of even the most hardened criminals. This is a vigilante who could challenge a god. Who fights literal Gods. This is a vigilante, a human, who can create his own place in a league of extraordinary, God like beings.
Objectively being scared of a guy in a bat costume seems silly. But imagine being in a dark building or alley and a 6'3 200+ pound dark creature with what appears to be wings, swoops down moving so fast you can't even comprehend it, crawls along ceilings etc and can brutally beat down half a dozen men in under a minute like it's nothing. It'd be fucking horrifying lol.
Ben Affleck's Batamn was a one of a kind. Seriously like out of all the other Batmans his was portrayed in this movie like he was a horror villain. I wish the stayed with the Dark element
They could have if they took a leaf out of the animated works book and slap Dark at the end of it so everyone knows its a DC Universe where you can expect Batman to get raped in prison, brand people, and kill. That way people aren't surprised. It sort of tears you away when you expect your childhood fantasy of Justice League coming to the big screen but get such a dark and gritty portrayal of characters you wanna love. Snyder would have been perfect for a Justice League Dark franchise. Not this one.

This scene is so good at portraying what Bruce Wayne set out to be when he donned the cowl. He embodies his fear and strikes it into the hearts of criminals and does so so well that even the women he saved are scared of him. He wanted to be a symbol of Gotham, hence the branding. And his whole demeanor is so inhuman it looks absolutely terrifying and demon like that it’s perfect. The agile yet aggressive movement, the way he poises himself and hides in the darkened. It’s just great. Too bad Affleck won’t be returning
I think this is a accurate portrayal of batman. Batman is very stealthy, so seeing him is rare and if you did you would think you saw a demon. Also, you wouldn't know if he is on your side or not which is also scary for good or bad guys. Good thing batman is extremely popular cause thats the only thing that makes him less scary and more understood. I would imagine villains would still be terrified when they see him though.

Everyone keeps saying Batman isn’t supposed to be able to hang and crawl on a wall like that. That it’s not realistic enough to be Batman. (Sarcasm). Um, I’m sorry, but is no one aware that Bruce has basically given in to the persons of the Batman that he doesn’t even want to be Bruce Wayne anymore. This movie is basically superhero nirvana for me, and I want more of that Zack Snyder genius.
Zack Snyder genius? 😂😂😂 Bro he turned Batman into a dumb parody of what he's supposed to be. For example, Bale really embodied the concept of Batman. He was a hero who inspired hope in the hearts of the people and fear in the hearts of criminals. He was a detective, a fighter, a planner and someone who stood up for what he believed, but he was also human, he got defeated but still came back up. Batfleck has the best fight scenes and arguably the best suit (although I think that the ears are too short and that he looks REALLY chubby, like the Batman in TDKR), but he wasn't a good representation of Batman because of Snyder and Whedon. He was a corrupted killer, a sociopath that made everyone afraid of him, instead of being the real hero that Batman is in the comics. He was dumb, delusional and refused to listen to common sense. And then in Justice League he was a joke, so no, Batfleck is NOT the best Batman (at least in regards of what Batman stands for).
This reminded me of the scene in Batman Begins when Ras al Ghul explained to Bruce how one must become more than a man in the mind of people. This Batman was viewed as almost supernatural being that he terrified even the people he saves.

That's how Batman should be; a dark force so terrifying even the women who know he saved them won't leave their cages until they know he's gone.
Why would civilians being terrified of Batman when they're supposed to love and admire him be the way 'he's supposed to be.'
@@arcane9205 Because Batman does not want the people to think of himself as a hero, he does not want people to love him. He's a vigilante that fights horrible and nasty layers of crime and corruption. Ever read about the character? THIS is how a proper Batman should be portrayed, not like the Josstice League.

Him branding criminals, definitely murdering people, and being hell bent on killing Superman was part of his arc of returning to why he became Batman in the first place. CinemaWins goes into more depth on what his arc is (highly recommend that channel)
Edit: Not to mention witnessing the destruction of a large chunk of a city in what amounted to a fist fight between two gods among mortals
_"do_ you talk to fish?")
Hopefully if we do see Red hood, they delve into his feelings of betrayal and seeing how throwing criminals in jail isn't enough.

It’s debatable that he brings more form than substance to the table, but what his movies lack in one thing definitely makes up for it in the other.

The worst batman has to be the one with George Clooney lmao! Especially the corny scenes with robin and batgirl.... its laughable that Scwartzeneggar was cast as Doc Freeze, they should've made him into Bane instead - he has/had the build!
It could've been a good movie. But it turned into a total disaster. A lot of cheesy dialogue in B&R.

Love this portrayal of the Bat a truly dark hero. I can't describe how terribly psyched I was after watching this in the extended cut. The football commentators opinions & the rest of the events in this scene March nicely.
He was like an actual nocturnal creature in this scene.
“It saved us”
I love the thought that the general public in the DCEU has no idea Batman is a human, they strangely assume so but scenes like this must make people think he is some kind of super powered being, scurrying across a wall like that while dodging shotgun fire?! Not only that but he keeps up with the likes of Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and so many other supes.
You know in the starting days of being Batman,no one in the Gotham believe that he is real, for them he is just a myth,a legend,a scary vampire who comes at night to hunt so yeah they are unaware who Batman is
@@duniyanbacchonki. I love this, it seems a lot more realistic that people would just doubt the Batmans existence early on rather than think a human is doing all of that. Thanks for the comment

There he goes, one of the best Batman in the history of cinema, an impressive Batman who divided his audience, but true fans of the character's comics know that this one was quite loyal to them. A Batman that despite everything, today gives something to talk about, and that many, even knowing that it is impossible, we would love to see a solo Batfleck movie.
Can't agree with you more. WB shot themselves in the foot screwing up this cinematic universe.
@@r.c.4201 It's true, and with every movie they're releasing lately, they're sadly going from bad to worse. They do not listen to their fans and that is bringing them important losses, I no longer go to the cinema to see their films, unless it is The Batman 2 or Joker

@@vietvu7593 His MOS and BVS has better story telling than most MCU movies.
Mutaz Muhanad Hammad If you watched any of the behind the scenes of any of his movies, you’d know that’s not true. Snyder is a very passionate filmmaker, he cares about telling good stories. Whether or not he does is up for debate.
Also, why attack him personally by insulting his intelligence? He is nothing but kind to everyone he interacts with.

Watchmen was a Masterpiece.
It's just that his time on working with WB he was given less freedom on fulfilling his vision.

I will always love BvS: Ultimate Edition. It's one of the few Batman films where I fully understand why criminals and others fear Batman so much.
Batfleck is the GREATEST Batman ever. Nothing can change my opinion 🦇🦇🦇🦇
He portrayed a very interesting hero but not a very good Batman, although that wasn’t his fault. Having him kill, use guns and whatever the hell they did to him in Justice League were bad decisions. Visually tho, yeah, best Batman. Really enjoyed his overall look and definitely his fight scenes in Batman v Superman

Zack Snyder took Batman entrance to the next level in this movie almost superficial, like he's ghost or something, how can u explain that prison scene with him and Luthor
The shot of the cop seeing him in the corner is something out of a horror movie and I love it
You know this version of Batman is scary when even the cops are scared of him
EDIT: I hope we get that solo Batfleck movie we all wanted now that Affleck is returning to the role for The Flash
I like how batman waited until the last possible second to move out of the way. With the new cops partner saying not to shoot the good guys, I wonder what the unspoken procedure is if you’re on duty and run into the Batman.
Prob : “just stay out his way and he will stay out yours” or get a broken bone
This right here symoblizes why Zack's Batman is the best version of the Character. 20 years of continous crime-fighting, The Cops still are afraid of him, the people who he saves are afraid of Him and ofcourse The Criminals who now get a Death-stamp on themselves certified by the Bat. He is everybit of what we expect from Batman to be like

And because of that wearing the suit turns him into a living demon and he can do crazy shit because of it? I mean, when I saw this scene in theaters, I almost screamed from how excited I was at how badass it was. That was the Batman I grew up with with Kevin Conroy every school-night and it was so freaking awesome. And seeing Zack Snyder bring the badass aspect of Batman being able to crawl up a wall like a bat was like a dream come true for me. So, screw anyone who tries to say this scene is bad. This movie is basically superhero nirvana for me, and I want more of that Zack Snyder genius.

Fantastic scene..Nolans films can swallow 8 turds. AFFLECK is the best Bats.
@@jordanrodriguez6412 yes he does.
Watching this scene again made me realize how much I want a Batman-themed horror movie.
He even moved like a bat!!!! GOATED 🔥
