I prided myself on my hair, but when I shaved it I loved it. Everyone around me also told me it was as if I'd always been bald! Best decision I've made!
This video inspired me to shave off my beard for the first time after 9 years of being bald and bearded. I had forgotten what my own face looked like, and had really started to think the beard was the only thing holding my look together. I was dependent on it and horrified imagining myself without it. But after watching this video I put eye of the tiger from Rocky on, and while listening I shaved it all off. Bye bye beard. And now I can see my face again after all these years. It's so strange, I'm trying to adjust. But I feel...liberated. I'm still me and I feel free. Thank you for the inspiration. It's getting emotion in here haha
Well done, brother! I’ve been shaving my head for 13-15 years now and love the look with a beard of any sort. It’s definitely not for everyone, but it’s clearly home base for some of us.
I just started keeping mine consistently short. My clippers include a 1/2 guard. My wife doesn't like the completely bald look on me, but I figure after a few months of weekly buzzing it with the 1/2 guard, I can work my way to her being comfortable with the 0 guard.
I watched a few of your videos and decided to take mine back to a zero. I’m in my mid 40’s but started thinning 5-6 years ago. I’m a metal / punk kind of guy so losing my hair was a big deal as it was a major part of my look. I also have dark hair and very white skin so it was a nightmare to hide. I’d been living with the patchiness for too long so last January I shaved it down to a 1. It was a bit of a shock and took me quite a few months to adjust, but as you’ve rightly pointed out, no-one else really gave a sh*t, some people didn’t even notice I’d shaved my head! I did that thing you do and grew it back for a month and it looked crap. When I saw your video this morning, it inspired me to go back to a zero. Losing your hair sucks, but you’re giving men such confidence and the benefit of your experience to not let it burden your life. Thanks. You’re doing a brilliant job and you’re advice has really helped.
Such a happy face once you finished shaving 😁 I started using the RX5 after you reviewed it. Love it. I rarely use the razor as I have a few skin tags in the head. Keep up the nice videos 👍🏼
Without a doubt 2 or 1 are the best, much better than the 0. Some hair creates framing which looks good.People might make the case that the horseshoe should be shaved to a 0 but you can still see it exists, so if you have some hair up top shave a 1 or 2. Also whilst I don't disagree about the 0 highlighting other features, it does highlight head shape, which a 1 or 2 doesn't.
This video perfectly encapsulates the paradox, that once you're bald, the less hair you have, the younger and better you look. And those clippers are impressive once you zero-guard it. I've been meaning to get a new one, this might be it.
Awesome video! I think this will really help people decide what look to go for. I myself shaved my head in April to a grade 3, wasn't overly happy with it and grew it out. Shaved it using zero guard a couple of weeks ago and the difference it makes is crazy! It looks so much better and as you say it makes other features pop! I have been watching your videos for over a year now and they have helped so much! So a big thank you from me! and if anyone is still on the fence about shaving their head.. just do it :)
Shaved my head for the first time last week, I’m 35. Always worried about it but I feel so much better now. Confidence came with it and I love it. Cheers mate
I'm 29 and my hair situation is incredibly similar to yours, I'm maybe doing a little better on the crown and a little worse on the front. Seeing you do this gave me the confidence I needed to go for my first big shave. Thank you and stay awesome, man!
This is kind how my life went in a video... About 25ish noticed I was pretty thin so started with a number 2... Couple years later went to number 1 ... Now im 35 and use no guard still haven't been brave enough for a razor shave yet lol
I do the no guard on my special guy because he is balding on top just like this , he has been wanting me to razor shave him and after this video I think I will
I honestly liked the #1 buzz the most. I find that a completely shaved head looks kinda sterile and alien like, and it highlights any imperfections that you might have. Harry doesn’t have a bad head shape, so the clean shaven look suits him.
You know you can fix your hair with transplant right? Not even kidding, you're the perfect candidate for one. It makes me wonder, why don't you want to do it for example in Turkey where it's cheap?
Fucking loved this. The immediate and radiant confidence that came once you finished the wet shave made ME feel good just watching it. Love all the vids on this channel but this might be my favorite so far
1 guard and below was on the money. obviously looked cleaner as it came down more, but i like the stubbly look too, gives a bit more colour on the head.
Hey Harry! Great video there, you just made me relive the feeling I had when I shaved my head for the first time 2 months ago. I felt bad about my hairline receding from the temples, it was not that bad but it made me feel down and my confidence was just at its lowest. Since I shaved it, I haven't looked back a single time, I feel SO much better now and all your videos just gave me the courage to do it in the first place. I could genuinely feel the relief at the end when you got back to shaved head. Thanks for everything mate 🙌
From when I was 19 till 22 I used to rock the grade 1/grade 2 buzzcut with a fade and a line up. I got a haircut every 2/3 weeks to maintain it. It looked nice but as my hair started to thin more and more it got to the point I needed to get a haircut every 5 days to maintain that look. And let me tell you, it was not worth it. I just shaved it all off at the start of this year and havent looked back since. It is way more of a bold and masculine look. It really makes a statement when you walk in a room. This also got me into the wet shaving hobby and I love it. I just turned 23 and I have finally completed the hairloss journey. Thank you so much for all the tips and tricks and making this topic a normality. Much love to all of you.
I razor shave my head because any attempt to grow hair only results in a pitiful horseshoe. In your case, however, you still have enough on top for a #2 cut to look good. It has a more softening effect on your overall appearance.
Awesome video idea! It's not often you see people compare different buzz/shave styles like this. I think my favorites are the 1-guard and the full razor shave. Honestly your positive reaction at the end to being "clean" again made me really happy, and I think that actually made it look even better, compared to the stone-cold seriousness of the others. Goes to show how much your confidence and attitude towards yourself can affect how others perceive you! Keep doing what you do and thanks for putting yourself out there for us folically-challenged-folk.
I personally think grade 1 looks best makes you look the youngest. Maybe try 0 on the parts where you have more hair (back and sides) and a 1 on the top to give the look of more hair on top? I wanna see what that looks like ngl
I've rocked a shaved head for several years throughout my life, and, now have long hair... I've noticed that people have something negative to say either way. I feel as though society wants us all to look the same, so I advise everyone to do what suits you. Whatever hair style you decide to go with, wear it with confidence, and others will fall in line. -- especially when it comes to strangers, they have no idea idea you just shaved your head for the first time. 😁
What I don’t understand about bald cafe is that he promotes self acceptance but used minoxidil on his face. So guys should just use minoxidil on their head, too?
Honestly, I think it all depends on the guys facial hair, head shape, and general features. In general, if you don’t have facial hair, I would probably go with the 1 guard. If you do have facial hair and the right head shape, you could probably rock all of the buzz cuts.
What an awesome end to a really great experiment, Harry. So amazing to see how happy you looked after returning to your version of normal. You could sense how much progressively happier you were looking the less hair was on your head! Welcome back brother 👏🏽
Not that anyone else's opinion matters but I like the look of stubble a lot more than clean shaven. No guard to one looks best imo. Ragnar Lothbrook vibe almost
Always an inspiration, the confidence when you’ve got back to bald , can tell in your face , same feeling I get when I do the same . Much respect keep on doing you man 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Yep, I was shaving my hair grade 1 but didn't like the look because of my thinning hair so I'm going to try 1/2, not ready to try grade 0 yet because I'm waiting for my beard to grow more.
Just bought mine a week ago ,used it 3 times so far every two days, update had it two weeks now and already it’s stopped holding charge and not charging so not coming on ,given it back for an exchange to amazon
How do you prevent these types of electric shavers from eating the back of your neck? Everywhere else on my head no problem but at the very back of my neck I get pretty bad razor burn/cuts. Tried dry and with a shave butter.
You should do a review on those cordless clippers used in video. I alternate between shaving and 0 buzzcuts. Would like to see what you think about those clippers. Thanks!!
I'm doing the zero guard for a year now (25) I like it the most because for me it looks like the hairstyle is on purpose but not as radical as a razor. Does that make sense? :D
You should do another video where instead of cutting your entire head with each grade, you just only cut the sides and the back lower to blend in with the top (especially since you still a decent hairline that shapes your face). Maybe use a 2 or 1 grade for the top and a 1 or 0 grade for the sides and back (maybe also use a couple of dabs of hair fibers for blending different spots). I'm sure it would look dope with the beard.
I'm glad you returned to the slick look--it's awesome. BTW, I'm surprised at the small difference between the electric razor shave and the manual razor. There is a difference, of course, but it is small.
As soon as my beard is grown back in mine is coming off. Did it once in lockdown to a No.2 and never dared go further. Just made my mind up for me. Cool.
I buzz cut mine the other day after watching one of your transformation videos of a number of guys doing it the first time. Took a LONG time to do because I really just didn’t have the guts. Immediately after watching the video at midnight I did it. Shocker for everyone in the morning to say the least. Now I’ll explore buzz cut vs. wet shave. I’m curious.
Great video, and that trimmer looks good. Does it cut shorter than a Remington quick cut with no guard. And what is the best trimmer to give a short no guard buzz. Thanks
Honestly those gold clippers (linked in description are amazing. My biggest gripe of wireless was the charging. These seem to be no issue at all. I did the 3 beard shaves - started on 92% ended on 88% battery. Incredible!
i think the electric shaver looks the best overall! for sure. the 0 guard still kinda showed the bald spots a bit more but the electric shave made it almost not noticeable like at all and there was hardly any different between the electric shave and the wet shave. looks and ease of shave, def electric
Inspired me to take mine down to 1/2 guard this week!! I have pretty much the same hairline as you. It looks so much better now.. just gotta get used to my funky shaped head!! 😂😂
this video basically sums me up. from grade 9 to 3 to 1 to no guard. after that i switched to mach 3 and now im using a double edge safety razor. honestly this thing is the best. im not balding by any means but i love the feeling!
I could tell in the end how happy you are to have a shaved head again! With your level of thinning wet shaved just looks the best, for people with more hair I'd say everything from a 1 guard downwards. If you don't have a fade on the sides, short buzz cuts just look better, no matter the amount of hair imo. Btw, was that a Dorco Pace 6 wet razor? If yes, how long do the blades last you usually? I have them too and even though I mainly use them for cleaning up after the Twin Shaver, I found the blades to go dull fairly quickly.
At first I was like hey the guard 1 is alright.. The guard 0 instantly looked 100x better, and then it just kept improving from there.

Honestly, I think it all depends on the guys facial hair, head shape, and general features. In general, if you don’t have facial hair, I would probably go with the 1 guard. If you do have facial hair and the right head shape, you could probably rock all of the buzz cuts.
I think grade 2 already looks good. Just from the look there isnt a big differnce between e-shave and wet shave.
All of these comments are about his beard being too long when that's not what the video is about 🤦♂️.People are idiots
They laughed when I sat down, but moments later they couldn't stop touching me!
When I shave my head it's either a 0 guard or a straight up shave. Anything any longer looks silly.
You literally saved me, thank you for ever.
What about a test where you live as a bald man without a beard? There’s lots of them and it would be really cool. Big fan, by the way 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Not everyone can grow a beard so good idea. Mine gets too gray!
Always an inspiration, the confidence when you’ve got back to bald , can tell in your face , same feeling I get when I do the same . Much respect keep on doing you man 🤟🏻🤟🏻
They make guards in 1/2 and 1 1/2 too. I use the 1/2 a lot because I feel zero is too close for me.
Yep, I was shaving my hair grade 1 but didn't like the look because of my thinning hair so I'm going to try 1/2, not ready to try grade 0 yet because I'm waiting for my beard to grow more.
I love the Remington RX5. I’ve had mine around 2 months now. Wouldn’t be without it.
Could actually see the happiness slowly coming back into as you cut the hair. Love this channel man ❤️
You should do a review on those cordless clippers used in video. I alternate between shaving and 0 buzzcuts. Would like to see what you think about those clippers. Thanks!!
Excellent video! I needed it since I have to decide what to do
I'm doing the zero guard for a year now (25) I like it the most because for me it looks like the hairstyle is on purpose but not as radical as a razor. Does that make sense? :D
Yes, my thoughts exactly
Size 1 looks great tbh
You should do another video where instead of cutting your entire head with each grade, you just only cut the sides and the back lower to blend in with the top (especially since you still a decent hairline that shapes your face). Maybe use a 2 or 1 grade for the top and a 1 or 0 grade for the sides and back (maybe also use a couple of dabs of hair fibers for blending different spots). I'm sure it would look dope with the beard.
Finally back to a shaved head Harry 👌
Not balding, but I love your videos brotha! Keep it up.
Looks great my friend - left in no doubt what's better - and one hell of a cool look at the end!
Incredible!
@@Baldcafe thanks they look good and are pretty cheap, do they cut shorter than the Remington quick cut you reviewed? Thanks
Next step: EPIDERMIS REMOVAL
Why stop, get that pesky skull out the way!
i think the electric shaver looks the best overall! for sure. the 0 guard still kinda showed the bald spots a bit more but the electric shave made it almost not noticeable like at all and there was hardly any different between the electric shave and the wet shave. looks and ease of shave, def electric
They all looked good bro but you obviously love the razor so more power to you. Great vid 👌
I've just shaved my head down to number 1 and feel great 😄
wonderful content, nice to see you back to normal :)
Inspired me to take mine down to 1/2 guard this week!! I have pretty much the same hairline as you. It looks so much better now.. just gotta get used to my funky shaped head!! 😂😂
I think you should do grade 1 on that beard. The scruff could suit you better
Think I’ll try the 9 week challenge if we can call it that , you rock the bold look BC thanks for the video
Anywhere between a 1 and wet shave looked good. I have had mine at a 1 or zero for 2 years now. Like it much better!
Haha might wanna change your description it says 9 months of growth 😂
Thanks mate 👍 😂
this video basically sums me up. from grade 9 to 3 to 1 to no guard. after that i switched to mach 3 and now im using a double edge safety razor. honestly this thing is the best. im not balding by any means but i love the feeling!
