Does anybody think it's a coincidence that Rolls Royce dropped the Cullinan late last year and the now the x7 has dropped and they look pretty similar?
Hmm...failed to address the main title completely. What are the differences between the two cars and why is you conclusion that the RR folks shouldn't worry?
this is just an X5 long wheelbase with an high price. Also unlike q7 and cayenne, you can't have an X7 (or X5) with both air suspensions and active anti-roll bars.
Always love the Range Rover. BUT and its a big BUT, can Range Rover offer the reliability of an BMW, not quite but can BMW offer the off-road abilities of a Range Rover and that touch of upper class. Well for its first attempt at a 7 seat 4x4 for a upper market audience I think BMW have nailed it and it's only going to get better as the facelift models will bring more style.
The M50d is probably the model to go for. The diesel torque is what you need in this segment, even though it’s probably a sensible engine since it is complicated with its 4 turbochargers. They should go for a twin turbo version with additional E-charger for low down torque in the future (like the SQ7 TDI V8). Also BMW should add a M50i (530HP, 4.4L V8) and a 40d version with 320HP diesel R6
Or why can't they simply use compressed air like koesnigsegg is doing in his new car? I think it reduce the amount of moving parts and with compressed air you have instant throttle response for acceleration
OK. Let’s get this right. This is NOT a competitor to the Range Rover. This matches the Mercedes GLS, possibly the XC90. The Range Rover (although owners will never use it for this purpose) is very capable off road. The X7 isn’t.
Unless you have lots of kids or are going to use it as a taxi, I can't see why you would buy one of these over a 630GT. The GT has as much space for rear passengers, a huge boot, much better looking (this X7 looks like a hearse) and won't roll around bends. The interior, engine, gearbox, wheels etc. are all exactly the same.
Under power corporate look what x7 is. Range Rover on the other hand was refined throughout its 60 years heritage. Compare the x7 after it was in production for 60 years with the rover.
I purchased the new x7 few months ago. This new iDrive 7.0 software is very unreliable. I keep getting logged off from my Online profile. Every other time I get in my car it asks me to enter my online profile user name and password! Plus my Bluetooth phone keeps disconnecting One day volume doesn't work. Another day XM radio doesn't work. Sometime the system freezes where I have to hold the Volume button for 30 seconds to restart the onboard computer. Called BMW started a Tech Ticket close to month ago. Still haven't seen anyone trying to help me. Called them after that multiple times and they keep blowing me off. Not a way a good client should be treated!
I like BMW but all I have been hearing is of late is many cars have reported faults and have been with dealerships for over a month especially M cars as we stand today I would not entertain the brand at one time they had been the car that set the bar now they struggle as the has been a number of Lemon cases in USA so much for ultimate driving machine more like leave at the dealership machine as the engine light is on more times than the head lights.
To answer the question, no, not when the BMW comes with that hideous shnoz. BMW remains lost in the design dilemma forest that Bangle put them in decades ago.
The X7 looks awful. It could be the best car in the world but it looks absolutely atrocious. It seems BMW'S designers were either drunk or high when designing this monstrosity
@@figh761 Because of that engine. I have that same engine in my 750Li. My car had barely 80,000 miles and BMW paid for a factory rebuild. The 4.4 V8 they use is historically a bad engine but they keep using it. Trust me. In a few years that X7 will begin drinking oil and will no good. The vehicle is very nice though.
I wish I bought BMW. My new 2020 RR PHEV I bought on 6/18/2020 from Official dealer in Atlanta GA had engine light turned on when I came back home, still turned on after 3 times back to dealer service with changing different parts. Now has been at service 4th time for last month and they said that all this model cars in the world will be recalled for new hybride software that will be ready at the end of September 2020. 3 months after buying a new very expensive car, still stuck to service. Dealer said that JLR refused replacement because any car they replace will need the same software update all p400e models in the world will be recalled.
You do realize all X3, X5, and X7s are built in the USA in Spartanburg, South Carolina right? BMW's largest plant in the world. BMW is the largest car exporter in the USA.
Yeah..no. BMW can take their humongous grille and stuff it where the sun doesn't shine. ..i have a hard time understanding that BMW used to be on the very top of my list of cars to own. That was then..and this hideous looking thing is now. Yikes.
I actually don't mind the looks as much as some others do and the interior is beautiful. Nice job

Where's the BMW P R
Great Video Review. I particularly like the Interior design the best
I look forward to the Dacia Duster comparison test.
I'm going to hold out for the X32
This is the sort of car you have to lease. Never buy, it's a money pit of a problem in the future.
DK1 unfortunately,It's is one of the most important models which let BMW be the best luxury brand in US
"Range Rover marketing shouldn't be worried..." (5 seconds later) "Expect to see plenty of these on UK roads..." Ummm!!??
Nope I don't think land rover has to worry
@Richard Ingram Ah! Got it. With JLR share down globally, I doubt they welcome the competition though.

Test drove it love it ordered the carbon black msport 22"wheels
Need a comparison review between this, the GLS and the LX!
Don't forget the Q7, Navigator and Escalade.

How about that x7 vs the mighty infinity qx80
That pile of dung is hideous!
Couldnt have said 6.1 seconds any better 😂
Still more handsome than the gls and next gen gls
not a fair comparison since the Range Rover lacks a third row
Who else came here after watching Matt's X7 review on Carwow?
What about the gls? Anybody heard of it? It's not just range rover and x7 in this segment

Range Rover is the king of suvs because it is an SUV company that's what they do.. oh and they are gorgeous and can climb a mountain
I can’t see why the Range Rover marketing guys WOULDN’T be worried - all x7 buyers would surly be RR buyers/drivers too.

I totally agree with you the design and the interior of the Lincoln navigator is really amazing you have to see that
Nope. My 6 year old Ranger Rover - which has been flawless over 100,000 miles - is still the most lovely vehicle to pull a horse box.
not even close. people forget the off-road capabilities of the range rover. its what off-road cars are for even if luxury is a thing.
This vehicle has 4 Year Lease Me written all over it.

Not sure why the X7 is being compared to a Range Rover, which is in league of its own. Rather compare it to the GLS.
