I don't agree. That has to be Sir Garfield Sobers for me, who was not only a wondeful stroke making batsman but a versatile and dangerous bowler. Greatest batsman? Certainly of his day, by some way. But given that the bowlers then were mostly medium to medium fast, one wonders how he'd have coped with Holding, Donald, Lee or any of the other really express bowlers.
In the same way that Jesse Owens was dominant in his day, so was Bradman. But Jesse Owens would not have been able to beat the likes of Usain Bolt. In the same way, is Bradman really better than Tendulkar, Root, Smith, Williamson and the like?
I don't think such comparisons are fair or valid. Let's just say that, during his career, he was incomparable.

Regardless of generation, opposition, pitches....to average 99.94 is just mind boggling. Even more so that he didn't have alot of not outs to boost his average. 29 centuries in 52 Tests, I don't know we will see these ñumbers again. I have high hopes for Jaiswal, there's something special about him.

I've read a Couple of Biography's about Don Bradman , From what I've read he wasn't the most graceful of Batsman to watch , But he had an eye like a Dead Fish , And would hit just about every ball were he wanted to , As I can see from the footage his shots aren't exactly from the David Gower or Greg Chappell Batting Academy , Having said that I would love to have seen him play , Anyone who Averages 100 on uncovered wickets , Must have been Pretty Good.

Another part to how successful he was was how he would keep it on the ground. It was no accident that it took so long for him to hit a six at Test level. He just wouldn't take that added risk for a couple extra runs, and why should he when he can place the ball through the gap to boundary with such relative ease.
I remember hearing about a statistical analysis done of the greats in their respective sports, like Gretsky and Jordan and so on. They found that Bradman was notably much better than his opponents to the point where he was a couple of standard deviations above what the others could manage in their respective sports.

The Don was statistically the best of all time and not just cricket. There is no other sportsperson that comes close to his domination. He is more than 50% better than the rest. The closest is actually a woman - Denise Annetts (81.9) but she doesn't qualify because she didn't score enough runs (819) due to limited opportunities in the women's game. However - also an amazing performance.

Test cricket is real cricket. If we keep Sir Don out of the context, then Sir Garfield sobers , Sunil Gavskar and LARA are the best batsmen in the Test. The innings these guys played against quality bowling attack and under pressure which Sachin never played. Sachin never played under pressure. Sachin never win matches in Test. His second inning run chase Avg is very very poor which shows he is not mentally tough and Gutsy player like Gavaskar, LARA, Steve Waugh and other Gr8s.
No one (great cricketers) have said sachin is all time Gr8 except Few Indian cricketer of Sachin's friends and Team mates. They only praise but it doesn't mean that sachin is all time gr8. All Gr8s have put Lara above sachin becz the innings Lara played in Test cricket which sachin never played . Sachin can only dream about it. We INDIAN People are just spectator and do not have cricketing knowledge. We just see country cricket and dont follow world cricket. We do not know what happened in the past who played... how they played. Against which bowling attack. We hv zero knowledge of cricket.
have anyone seen Sir Garfield sobers batting ( I mean on You tube) ? How he is batting? How he scored runs? His shots? He is natural like Lara. Do you people know he has scored 365 runs ? Hit 6 sixes in an over.
have anyone seen Gavaskar 221 innings at oval 1979 chasing 437 in fourth innings? The match end up with draw with 2 wickets remaining. Sunil Gavaskar was 8th wicket and only few overs remaining to close the fifth day, Do you know he made 14 centaury against west indies killer fast bowling attack MARSHAL HOLDING ROBERS GARNER? Except Sunil Gavaskar No one stood in front of them in that era . Hope we spectator know these west indies bowlers..
have anyone seen Lara's match winnings 153 against Australia (Mcgrath, Gillespi, Shane Warn) in 4th innings? from 91 for 5 wickets, he did 200 runs partnership wit last 5 players and win the match with one wicket remaining ( Hats off to Walsh for playing 4 balls of Gillespi and gave Lara a chance). One can only dream such a innings.
There are many such innings these guys hv played in TEST. All I cannot put here. Go and search on you tube.
Go and see them first then I am sure u people will think differently with cricketing mind and not by heart.
Show me sachin's a single innings (like these guys played )where he played and win test match in 2nd innings run chase except one against Pakistan 139 which he got out playing a stupid shot when only 15 runs required and 4 wickets in hand. Now Don't say his back was paining. No excuse please.
Scoring 100 or 1000 century is not imp but how you scored, in which situation u scored that is imp.
Wisden cricket hv not considered his single century out of 100 in their top list. Sachin completely failed.
Thanks god Lara played in the same era in which sachin played so we came to know the huge gap between the gr8 lara and sachin.
Sachin is light year behind lara.
    LARA u r GENIUS.
Many Many love to the Gr8 LARA from India.
All the gr8s in LARA and sachin's era put LARA above sachin.

Awful. This is like an AI generated script ripped straight from the wikipedia article on The Don.

But bradman played majorly against England in England and Australia and hardly played in indian subcontinent so we cant say whether he was good spin batsman, i think sachin is the greatest who scored in every country and against the best bowlers

Bradman didn't have a helmet to protect against bouncers, had years of his career lost due to world war. Let's cut the nonsense to downplay his achievements when he is by far the greatest to ever play the game.
