- In 1939, Europe was on the brink of war. Nicholas Winton, a young British stockbroker, decides he would do everything possible to save the lives of as many Jewish children as he could. He saved 669 children from the clutches of the Nazis, bringing them by train to Britain. This program tells the story of Nicholas Winton. It also points us to some moral truths that transcend human reasoning and help us make right choices.

Never confuse fame and celebrity hood with greatness. Now, this man is a real Hero and an inspiration.
There must have been thousands of Hero's in every war that's ever been. Of whome Sir Nicholas Winton is one. It is right that his selfless deed is recognised and celebrated. I'm sure he'd be the first to say 'I wasn't the only one' On the 27th of this month, I shall remember all those lost in the Shoah and those unrecognised people who did what they could to help save lives.

A real hero. Makes me proud to be British. Especially as my grandfather liberated the Belsen concentration camp.

Thousands of children today know nothing of the Shoah, because they have not been enlightened by their elders OR taught it at school. I have always made sure to teach any child in my family about the Shoah. It's our Moral Duty to do so.

Sadly, there are only an estimated 800~1K Christians living in Gaza (according to Aljazeera). We pray for peace but above all, we pray that people of the world would come to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour. Please join us in praying for this region.

I now live in a country with little or no Christian heritage and it's unheard of for people to make even the smallest sacrifice for a stranger, never mind risk their life for a stranger!
I don't know if Winton was born again/born of the Spirit (John chapter 3 etc) but he was baptized Christian and grew up in a country with a very rich Christian heritage.
It's 100% thanks to the New Testament and Jesus Christ that Winton and others showed such selflessness.

I am afraid you misunderstood. Every life is precious regardless of one's beliefs. We believe in freedom of choice. Of course, as Christians, we believe that Jesus is the only way to living for eternity with God where there will be no more tears or sorrows. We would do well to love one another regardless of skin colour or religious belief.
This story is "A TRUE" history that had happened, and we all need to "Think that could happen once again" if the "FREE-WORLD" allows "a Russian Leader" to create a similar "Barbaric" story. PRAY for Ukraine; and remember to "God Bless Freedom."

Four individuals had been instrumental in saving Jewish lives...the German Schindler, a Japanese ambassador assigned to Europe, the British Winton and Philippine President Manuel Luis Quezon.
I would add Irena Sendler to your list.

I do not think it should have ended with a gospel. Not everyone knows or reads Christian Gospels or indeed even believe in the christian god. Indeed millions are still dying in the name of 'religion' and thousands used and abused by representatives of the catholic church.

Christian means "Christ like".
If Jesus Christ never said the words below and never came to SERVE and give his life to save us, there wouldn't be ANYONE helping others (strangers and in a foreign country) at great cost to themselves.
Only people who are Christians (definition: John 1:12-13, Romans 8:9) or grow up in a country with Christian heritage (either reading about Jesus or seeing Christ-like actions) sacrifice their career or their lives for total strangers and even enemies.
(Doing it for your own family or "tribe" is not unusual).

Nobody who is not a Christian (or didn't grow up in a country with Christian heritage) would think of risking their life or abandoning their career to help others: others they DON'T KNOW in a FOREIGN COUNTRY.
There have been millions of examples over the years of people from Christian heritage countries doing that and none I can think of from non Christian countries (who may help their OWN at any cost but not total strangers).
If you read the four Gospels (what Jesus did) you will see how revolutionary it is.
Do you think the Kindertransport or Berlin airlift ("Berkin blockade" on Wikipedia) would have happened if it wasn't for words like these??
