HP has a good deal right now yes, but it also comes with less memory and storage (half actually) if I read it correctly. Personally I don't care much about the pen, so I'm still happy with my Best Buy purchase
This is a great upgrade to any already fantastic device. Not many flaws, and it has a gorgeous 4K display once again. Build is outstanding and has sleek looks. Let me know what you think.
What will be your choice if you need to pick any1 from these 1. Macbook pro with touchbar 2. Hp spectre x360 15 (i7 8gen 4k 16gb ram, 512ssd) 3. Dell inspiron 2in1 7000 7573 (i7 8gen 4k 16gb ram, 512 ssd) 4. Dell xps 15 ( i7 8th gen. 4k. 16ram 512ssd)
I purchased this laptop because of your review. Good work Andrew. I purchased a Lenovo thinkpad L380 and the screen cracked within 1 month of ownership. Unfortunately I didn't purchase the warranty, so I ended up on a never ending search to find the screen. After many failures and an estimate from Lenovo at around $600,(I paid $1000 for the machine) I decided to purchase another laptop. My decision was to purchase another refurbished laptop Lenovo L450s and upgraded the laptop as much as I could. I do consultation work and not having a laptop to present a solution was just not acceptable. My system needs to be able to handle virtualization, of course compiling code in addition to regular day to day use remotely. I ended up needing to cut my losses and purchase another laptop...and based on your review I decided to get the HP Sceptre 15t x360. Your review was very clear and spot on. It lacked some key points that were specific to my uses, but that would be unreasonable to expect. My only issue is with the touch pad, it's not as accurate as I would like and that's probably due to the very smooth surface of the touchpad anmd the drivers. As far as processing power goes, I'm able to run multiple virtual desktops and process integrated testing of development work. Thanks Andrew...
I really can't decide between the 15 inch and the 13 inch. The latter seems a bit too small, the former a bit too big. I'm mostly concerned with the 2kg weight of the first one since I am bringing it to school/work every day. At the same time, that extra graphic card and workspace are really nice to have, and of course the 15 inch will benefit more from a 4k screen.
Emad Ahmed If I would use it mostly at home I would definitely go that route. Since I will likely take it with me everywhere I go 2 kg starts to matter. What will you use it for?
Yeah, I am a student studying animation, and am currently using an intuos art tablet. I was considering getting a laptop, until I saw this 2 in 1 that works very well. I was wondering if I should get the graphics card for photoshop, animate, and premiere?
I was struggling with the same issues. But tbh i guess you'll get more out of the bigger screen. I personally will get a 15" spectre and a laptop backback, so you carry it close to your back, and i guess the weight will be fine with that. I had the Surface Book before, which weighed 1.6 kg and that was perfectly fine!
I just got the 13 inch model and l think it just depend on whether you have a desktop of not. I already have a desktop at home so the lack of an igpu doesn't really matter to me since I won't be doing any gaming on this thing. Its really nice having a laptop you can comfortably hold in one hand. Battery life is better too compared to the 15" so I can bring it to school without a charger. Update: I ran into a weird issue with audio static but did some googling and disabling multstreaming in the audio control panel fixed it. Not sure what the option actually does since everything still sounds the same.
i bought one last week, got 16g ram and 512ssd for 1200$, great deal, just dont like a hinges, little loose...and a little over heat when u flip it for 360 degre....
I don’t leave comments on any computer reviews. But I just want to say that you do a very good job reviewing. You give all the info people need and it looks very professional and the star is the computer itself. You stay out of the way and just present the info. You should have way more subscriptions but for sure that will come as it is growing. Good job. Thanks.
Hi AMD..... very nice and unbiased review..... thumbs up... but kindly cut down on that background music.... lowering the background music volume will be appreciated.....
May I suggest laptop reviews to also include post-sale warranty/support experience, as it is partially factored into a purchase cost as well (by the manufacturer), and paid for (by the consumer). Or, have this as a separate review with criteria matrix, but accounted for/included in within laptop unit reviews.
omg i was considering this laptop for retouching on a road or when i can't do that on PC. actually i wanted something more lightweight and 13 inches, but such laptops have worse characteristics. did you try retouching with a pen? is it actually comparable to retouching on wacom tablets? so if even this laptop is not enough for retouching, then smaller versions wont be good at all. i'm just in love with the Spectre look.. and all others are ugly and honestly very expensive with the same characteristics..
I enjoy your reviews. If I’m not mistaken you have somehow improved the way you present this review. Hopefully it’s your new format. Every year I purchase a Christmas gift for myself and for the last few years it’s been a new computer. Last year was a HP Ultrabook X360 13”. This year I’m considering either the HP Spectre 13” or the 15” X360. With the improved 8th generation chip and the new dedicated graphics I’m hoping it will be much better than the 7th generation system. I do enjoy the system I have now but have been a bit disappointed with the performance. My daughter will be getting my present Ultrabook. I’ve been a HP fan for many years now as I have never received a faulty unit and with the exception of a bad graphic card on my desktop the computers have been flawless. Now I see Lenovo has done a major upgrade to their Yoga 920. I’ve never owned a Lenovo but read and hear good things about them. So to my surprise I see you have the 920 review. Do you have a preference between the two or can you recommend a different system. Thanks for the reviews you post as they are always well done and informative.
Excellent review! I have just bought a newer 2018 model, and HP even make it better. Thanks to your review and it did help me to make a great decision to buy this laptop. Keep going!
Update... Still loving mine. I use the bamboo stylus most after a bit of testing. Might still pick up their proprietary one though. Awesome machine. I use it for art, video editing, and music production. Games that call on the gpu do make it run HOT, but I didn't buy it for games so no worries! Ps never had any issues such as whine
I ordered one of these on Black Friday (for $1,199! 8'th gen, too!), and it hasn't even arrived yet, but I'm going to return it, in favor of the 13-inch model, which I ordered from HP's site the same day. As much of a good deal as this was (and BOY, was it a great deal), it's really just too damn big for my needs. The 13-inch is just right (for MY purposes).
I had a Spectre x360 configured and ready to take advantage of a great sale... but wasn't crazy about the colors...so I continued to look... I fell in love with the Zenbook which has similar specs ...but the blue metallic and the speaker quality won me over... I am starting to suspect that the blue is hard to find in the real world in a 15.6 inch version...if I have no luck I'll slide back on over to the Spectra... which offered a little bit more for a powerful configuration
I am still loving my ENVY (Plastic version of the SPECTRE) x360 15.6" with the 5th gen i7. I recently upgrade it to a EVO 850 PRO SSD and the thing runs incredibly fast. The battery life is degraded of course but it wasn´t ever any good anyway. Build quality? Amazing everything works, the 1080p IPS Display is still pretty sharp with excellent darks and contrast. So at least in my experience this is the best Laptop I have ever owned (Still). I will advise anyone buying a x360 to really consider if you are going to use a 15.6" 2 kg Laptop as a tablet... The weight at least on my ENVY is considerable even when its 90% plastic and makes tablet mode uncomfortable But what I can tell you is that you really really really want the Touchscreen! so that is the thing going for with the x360 model... Even when its on laptop mode the touchscreen works so it makes down scrolling a breeze, there is a lot of functionality with it so that is what I love about my x360 ENVY even when it has only been used as a tablet a handful of times... That touchscreen is really worth the x360 price.. Screw tablet mode just get the it for the touchscreen.
Best Buy will have the 13” laptop (16GB Ram, 512 SSD, 1080P screen) for $999 this Friday. They will also have the 15” Spectre (16GB Ram, 512 SSD, 4K screen) for $1,199. Which one do you think is the better value?
I bought mine 3 weeks ago, Late 2017 it costed more than 2000USD for the HPx360 Spectre, and it was a huge mistake. The BIOS needed an upgrade, the computer fan switches on unnecessarily and the touchpad scroll mechanism does not work. When you install Office 2016 and adjust the display settings to a finer font display layout, there is a lumpy grey halo on the upper right hand side of the screen. HP has indicated I need to get used to the faulty 4k display since all HP x360 manufactured in late October till end Dec 2017 have this problem which cannot be fixed. The 4K display is also not compatable with current engineering software e.g. Ansys
You should compare this with an ENVY X360 15T-BP100 with the I5-8250U, 12GB RAM, 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD, and 4K upgrade, but exclude the NVIDIA MX150 and stick with the Intel UHD graphics and see how similar the battery life would be to the Spectre. Also, with a rated 340-Nit brightness on both 4K displays, how would the picture quality be on both of these? Being that the Spectre doesn't have the numeric keypad and the ENVY does, what's the difference in the touchpad and speaker size and sound quality?
Avoid at any cost! The laptop suffers serious coil whine issues, and unless you don't mind your laptop making strange electrical noises then go for it! Sad that HP hasn't solved this issue for 3 years now. I will be returning mine next week! at this price tag, no compromise! They won't fix it, unless consumers raise voice. Avoid buying for now. It looks amazing, and nice specs but HP doesn't seem to care about Quality Control. That's how Apple gains momentum and more customers! I'm now thinking turning to Apple. Dells, HP, Lenovo same issues.. Send laptop in for repair, no thanks pal, when I pay £1600 I shouldn't be sending it in for repair straight out of the box, neither for a replacement!
Thanks for that Aki! There should be no compromise at all within such price range. I am going for a MacBook Pro. My first one . I don’t like windows anyway, never really did .
Great review, as usual. Like you I prefer more battery life. Particularly if I'm going to be parting with over $1000. I really love the look of the laptop, but looks don't win over daily longevity, at least for me. Will keep watching and checking out past videos to compare (I'm old and have poor memory. What can I say?) and I appreciate the fact that you leave them up so I can do the comparison research. Very helpful. Thanks for yet another honest review.
Didn't you face problems with the speakers? they sound distorted on high volumes and not so good on low volumes either. One of them failed completely and I had to do some drivers re installation to fix it, but still sound is not good at all and I can't raise the volume. was talking it to repair before I managed to fix it, now I'm not so sure because I think the problem will persist even if they replaced the speakers.
Thanks for the review ... So how bad is the coil whine ? I've had to go through 3 XPS 15's before I gave up completely on the machine ... Now I am thinking about a spectre .... is it going to be buzzing like the XPS ?
Lex Gabrees unfortunately there are plenty of people around with very bad coil whine with this model and the previous ones. I would buy one myself if this was not the case. I also like you returned several XPS’ for the same reason. Gave up and bought a computer from a company I don’t ethically like but their laptops don’t do this rubbish.......unacceptable and bizarre that they don’t fix it. Surely must cost a lot to send out countless replacements.
Decent review but I would have like more cpu tests benchmark to back up the claim of 40 percent gain. For instance video rendering times. Let me know if I missed them I was just listening to the video while driving.
Andrew Marc David you're welcome. I would love to buy it with this price tag but here in Germany it's a different story. For example the newest HP spectre x360 15 i7 512gb model costs more than $2k... The yoga 920 i7 with 512gb costs about $2350 here.
Hey, as a future student I'm deciding between getting the 15" spectre x360 and using it as my main device, pluging it into a monitor when I'm home (and doing some light gaming (mostly LoL and Overwatch), or getting the 13" spectre x360 (or another smaller 2-1) and building a medicore pc to use at home. What would you guys reccomend?
Hey, did you buy your Spectre 15 yet? If not, and if you live in USA, Best Buy will have this for $1,199 this Friday. It’s the 512GB, 16GB Ram, 4K model.
Hi thanks for the great review! I just got one of these (i love it)and i have the surface pen. I do a lot of digital art and Im thinking of getting the hp pen, or the bamboo ink pen. can you offer any advice on how the pens functionality differ when used with this specter ? Thanks again!
Thanks! I have only used the Surface Pen on the Spectre x360 a few times, but I can tell you that it does work and I had no issues. As fare a detailed comparison with the HP pen well I have to do more testing side by side but off hand for notes and drawing you should be fine with either pen.
I am about to start a study based on programming. I am curious if this is suited for it. I like to do some light gaming like LoL in my spare time. I like the idea of convertibles, but I'm not sure if I should aim for something else?
I was in the same boat, but the Yoga 920 really needs to be customizable. The fact that I can choose an x360 with 16gb of ram and a 256gb drive, and it comes with discrete graphics makes me lean heavily toward the x360. If I want 16gb of ram in a yoga 920, right now I have to get their $2000 sku which has a massive drive I don't need (or want to pay a premium for).
The hinge in Spectre is not very solid. It cannot hold the weight of the screen, specially in the 15-inch model. I tried it in a BestBuy store and if you just slightly wobble it, the screen will tilt complete backward. I cannot image how it's gonna hold if you wanna use it on a bus, etc.
I'm in the same boat as you. Lisa Gade from MobileTechReview posted review of the Lenovo and it's looking promising. I was looking at getting the top spec anyway so customisability is not an issue for me. I think Yoga looks far better than this one too (yes, I'm one of those who loves the hinge!).
So tempted to buy this..My current laptop is samsung ativ book 8 (880z). It is huge and looking for little smaller. Torn between this or the 13 inch. I would like to use a egpu on with to game on PUBG and VR. Thoughts? Coil whine and generally poor reports of bad quality control from HP has me concerned. Surface book 2 would of been awesome if it has a true TB3 port but it to has terrible reports of bad quality control.
I bought this laptop about three weeks ago and am completely satisfied with it! However, I have one question. When I bought it, I didn't know about the 8th gen i7, and ended up getting a 7th gen i7. Is it worth sending this back and getting the 8th gen (they both cost the same)? I saw the 7th gen has a speed of 2.7 GHz, while the 8th gen has a speed of 1.8 GHz. Is it something of concern?
Very grateful to hear about this pc,as I have been scratching my head over what 15" pc to buy. Although one of the ticks I had against this was that it had Bang & Olefson speakers. I thought this was one of the best Hi-Fi companies in the world. Why have you only given 8 out of ten. Would the Dell XPS 15" pc have a better sound? I am disappointed about this, which laptop in this range would have a better sound ? Lee
Nice review. I currently have a Spectre x360 15t on order from HP with a 360 GB ssd. You showed Chrystal DiskMark with a very high scores...almost into the Samsung 960 Pro range. What is the brand of the SSD in the reviewed machine and what is the slot configuration M, B etc. ? I have contacted Samsung to see if a 960 pro will work and they say no but a 850 EVO would work. I'm not sure the folks at Samsung are aware of the full specs of this computer. From what I can tell a 960 pro should work. HP tech support is of no help as I don't have the computer yet. Once I get it I will post my comments. Thanks again for the nice job.
AMD, looking for a portable replacement for my ancient 2009 iMac. With my use (Creative Cloud PSD, AI, ID, DW) looking for an affordable mobile workstation that has an accurate display and has decent specs/price ratio. Debating to get a 7th gen XPS 15 before the 8th gen comes out after CES 2018 or a different, better priced laptop. Busy with work, so I didn't get chance to go thru BF ads. Was a great deal at Best Buy. Enjoy your reviews.
Hey, I am not sure if there are big differences between the 15" and the 13" 2017 hp spectre x360. If there is can you let me know? If you have already made a video that I haven't found can you share the link? Love your videos btw
I have one and it also has some coil whine. It seems to be lower in intensity when in runs on battery, but still there. Also adjusting the screen brightness causes some continuous sound that seems to depend on the brightness. Full brightness makes the sound disappear completely.
For Adobe programs (After Effects, Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign), would you pick this over the Macbook Pro with Touch Bar (i7, 2016)? I'm a graphic design student and have been wanting to get a great laptop to use now & for the years to come. Would really appreciate your thoughts since I'm really confused on which one to get! Thank you in advance!
Hi I am planning to buy a 15" device. I am not able to decide between Spectre x360 15t (quad core i7-8550U) and XPS 15 (i7-7700 HQ). Can you tell me which one of these devices will certainly be better in performance and for some light gaming? Looking forward to responses.....
The Dell XPS 15 has a stronger processor and GPU, but if u want light gaming then the spectre is not a bad investment. But for performance and better gaming, the XPS 15 is also good. Personally, I have the Spectre and it's great. But the XPS is not a bad choice eiter.
lingering between this one and XPS 15.. the GTX1050 in xps certainly attracts me more but this one is convertable..how different between the 8th coffee lake u processor and 7th 7700hq?
The XPS 15 has a 45w CPU as opposed to the 15W of the HP Spectre x360, which makes a difference if you are gaming and video editing as well as other processor intensive tasks. The Dell XPS 15 and the GTX1050 will provide more more. That being said, the x360 and its gpu also provide some power for those kind of tasks as I explain in the video. The x360 is also more portable, versatile (convertible) and gives you pen support. So you have to decide what features are important to you. Hope this helps.
Hi, Andrew. Great review, as always. :) I am civil engineer and I work a lot with CAD programs and I would like to know is this laptop good for this type of job.Would you buy this model right now or you would wait for 2018 edition? Can you compare it to Xiaomi Mi Notebook pro? Thanks in advance, Dragan :)
I would wait for the new 208 model with the new Intel/AMD partnership and see how that pans out. If I get a enough demand I will compare the Mi Notebook Pro to the HP Spectre x360.
There is one big question that I have with this laptop, and all laptops in general right now. It's charged by usb c and it does have PD (power delivery). But can this laptop be charged by a ucb c power bank with PD?
Yeah I was wondering about this, it looks like there's a shield over it but otherwise accessible. I'm thinking of buying the 8gb and upgrading to 32gb but I don't want to get stuck with 8gb
"Stole" the 16Gb 512 SSD model at BB sold for $1199... Ill buy my own pen! :) Looking to pair this unit with a Thunderbolt ported audio interface, and report results back to Focusrite (they were having issues with Thunderbolt 3 drivers...
SLS Tech I have it, it's awesome. Only negatives are: meh speakers and port selection could be better (no HDMI not SD card reader), also can't charge through USB c, but that's understandable as it needs 140W charger.
hey good video, im gonna buy a laptop for architecture, and i'd like a portable, powerful and elegant one. im between the yoga 720 15 and the spectre x360 15t, the full version in both, what would you choose?
**DEAL ALERT: Black Friday Deal: $1199 at Best Buy bit.ly/2zyjSow
Actually just ordered it from Best Buy a few hours ago with that deal. Thanks for the information!
Andrew Marc David got it yesterday! Very impressed!
Looks like $1,129 right now through HP website's Cyber Monday Deals
Best Buy isn’t the Best Buy. The HP store has similar pricing plus the pen is included.
Just ordered the same machine from HP. But what is Coil Whine? Can you please describe so I can be on the look out for it. Thanks.
Whining noise coming from the coils in the machine. Very low pitched not loud but is detectable.
Andrew Marc David when will u review the x360 with 2500u?Cant wait to see ur take on it sir thanks
Did your replacement have coil whine? That would be my main concern and how cool does it run?Any overheating problems?
What will be your choice if you need to pick any1 from these
1. Macbook pro with touchbar
2. Hp spectre x360 15 (i7 8gen 4k 16gb ram, 512ssd)
3. Dell inspiron 2in1 7000 7573 (i7 8gen 4k 16gb ram, 512 ssd)
4. Dell xps 15 ( i7 8th gen. 4k. 16ram 512ssd)
Just bought the 15.6
i7, 16gb, 512ssd
@ Best Buy for 1,199...
Will plug it in tomorrow.
Great price! Enjoy!
I bought it too. The Toshiba 512 SSD seems a lot slower than the Samsung 256 SSD.

If you remove the EMI shield over the RAM, it has 2 slots and can be upgraded, presumably up to 32GB.
Thanks for the review. I’ve been a Mac user for years, but considering this laptop, especially to use photoshop and Lightroom on the couch.
Thanks! I really appreciate it!

I NEVER thumbs up videos, but this review was so good, I had to. Great job.
Best Buy will have the 13” laptop (16GB Ram, 512 SSD, 1080P screen) for $999 this Friday. They will also have the 15” Spectre (16GB Ram, 512 SSD, 4K screen) for $1,199. Which one do you think is the better value?
GVN Productions No doubt the 15 inch one
When is the sale coming?
NIKKHIL NEGGLUR Black Friday
Will the 15’ have the 8th gen i7?
GVN Productions In the UK that 15 inch version is over 2K ...hmmm
Ansys
thank you. I am planning to buy on thanksgiving caz the resolution seems great
Hey Andrew would love to see to see a comparison in your future videos between the HP Spectre x360 vs Surface book 2 13 or 15" please. Thank you
Great review! Answered all my questions I had about these models. Definitely narrows my decision.
Glad you found the video helpful.
Excellent review and not a bad device! As per usual shared as of right now.
Yayyy I've been waiting for this
Great device. Build is outstanding and screen is gorgeous.
Send laptop in for repair, no thanks pal, when I pay £1600 I shouldn't be sending it in for repair straight out of the box, neither for a replacement!
akis koutoudis Maybe you just had a bad model?
Thanks for that Aki! There should be no compromise at all within such price range. I am going for a MacBook Pro. My first one . I don’t like windows anyway, never really did .
Hey Andrew, what is “Coil Whine”?Please enlighten me. Thanks again for the awesome videos.
great video by the way. premium and genuine reviews as always.
Would you recommend this laptop over the Xiaomi mi notebook pro? Not counting the touchscreen and the price differences.
Hey Andrew, I loved the review but I need your help in deciding which one should I go for the 15'' one or the 13'', could you take me through this?
Great review as always.
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
You make great reviews. I have really liked this one. Kudos
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
So ... I guess I'm stuck with lenovo ... what did you buy in the end ?
Decent review but I would have like more cpu tests benchmark to back up the claim of 40 percent gain. For instance video rendering times. Let me know if I missed them I was just listening to the video while driving.
Andrew, does the 4k display still have the small icon issue which makes it almost unusable?
Really like your reviews! You mentioned bottlenecking of the CPU using a eGPU, why? Concerns with that?
Great job!!
In the description are the links to both the new and the previous models identical.
Just wanted to let you know
Thanks! I fixed the link. You can get last gen model for $1,039 which is a great bargain in my opinion.
Andrew Marc David you're welcome.
I would love to buy it with this price tag but here in Germany it's a different story.
For example the newest HP spectre x360 15 i7 512gb model costs more than $2k...
The yoga 920 i7 with 512gb costs about $2350 here.
Ouch! That is expensive. I assume it has to do with taxes and duties etc..
Andrew Marc David yes I think so.
What would you recommend else?
HP envy x360 i7 7th Generation?
I have reviewed the HP Elitebook X360 but not the Envy X360, but from what I hear it is very good.
Thanks for this video because i'm about to buy one.
Just got the duo core model (7th gen) earlier this year, is it worthy of an upgrade?
Could you please tell me what is the thinnest ultrabook currently available?
Thanks
Is this the computer to buy if you want a gaming-ish laptop without the bulk of a dedicated gaming computer?
Good review, covered most areas! But what is "coil whine"?
Can you run virtual machines on it with good performance?
Hey, as a future student I'm deciding between getting the 15" spectre x360 and using it as my main device, pluging it into a monitor when I'm home (and doing some light gaming (mostly LoL and Overwatch), or getting the 13" spectre x360 (or another smaller 2-1) and building a medicore pc to use at home. What would you guys reccomend?
Alright, these are some really good points. I'll go for the 15" than. Thank you!
Hey, did you buy your Spectre 15 yet? If not, and if you live in USA, Best Buy will have this for $1,199 this Friday. It’s the 512GB, 16GB Ram, 4K model.
GVN Productions I don't have it yet, but I will actually buy it with the Best Buy deal here in Canada. Thanks for the reminder!
GVN Productions wow that’s a good deal. I would like to buy that. Are you sure about the deal?
What about a fan noise? I have seen some complains in other reviews.
Looks like a beast T. Great video.
+Western Gents United Thanks Mate!
Cant decide between Yoga 920 and Spectre x360. Please help!
The Yoga 920 seems like a great device, but I can't stand the hinges! :P Some people love them though.
I tried it at best buy, and the hinge worked perfectly. I think the one you tried out had a loose hinge.
I think there are 2 types of ram 16gb-2100 and 16gb-2400. In best buy which one of the ram is present in there.
Is it something of concern?
does anyone have an idea of this device's price in UK and where to buy?and I'm a bit hesitated between the 13 & 15 inch
Do you know if on the 13 inch models the micro sd sits flush as well?
Very grateful to hear about this pc,as I have been scratching my head over what 15" pc to buy. Although one of the ticks I had against this was that it had Bang & Olefson speakers. I thought this was one of the best Hi-Fi companies in the world. Why have you only given 8 out of ten. Would the Dell XPS 15" pc have a better sound? I am disappointed about this, which laptop in this range would have a better sound ?
Lee
It was awesome review love it , keep doing your best
Thanks Satria!
I am in the middle of reviewing the new 13-in version and will be releasing the video in the next day or so. So stay tuned.
Hi David, Does this model has coil whine. Please advice. I have ordered it.
+Raja Sekar Mine does have it slight coil whine not loud. To me not a big deal.
Thankyou
I have one and it also has some coil whine. It seems to be lower in intensity when in runs on battery, but still there. Also adjusting the screen brightness causes some continuous sound that seems to depend on the brightness. Full brightness makes the sound disappear completely.
can someone confirm the tilt function doesnt work?
Love your reviews Andrew.
What is the tilt function you speak of?
Please review the 2017 8th generation core i7 hp envy 17"
For Adobe programs (After Effects, Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign), would you pick this over the Macbook Pro with Touch Bar (i7, 2016)? I'm a graphic design student and have been wanting to get a great laptop to use now & for the years to come. Would really appreciate your thoughts since I'm really confused on which one to get! Thank you in advance!
Kim Pua in the same position, I think I will wait till January-February and see what the new XPS has to offer
Hi
I am planning to buy a 15" device.
Could this handle video editing with software like Filmora or Premier?
should i upgrade my spectre with i7 7500U for this one ???
This top specs one vs dell xps 15 top spec. Which one?
It has GPU? Do you think it would have good performance with Sony Vegas Pro 15? Thank you!
lingering between this one and XPS 15.. the GTX1050 in xps certainly attracts me more but this one is convertable..how different between the 8th coffee lake u processor and 7th 7700hq?
The XPS 15 has a 45w CPU as opposed to the 15W of the HP Spectre x360, which makes a difference if you are gaming and video editing as well as other processor intensive tasks. The Dell XPS 15 and the GTX1050 will provide more more. That being said, the x360 and its gpu also provide some power for those kind of tasks as I explain in the video. The x360 is also more portable, versatile (convertible) and gives you pen support. So you have to decide what features are important to you. Hope this helps.
excellent review as always Andrew
+Kevin Max De Cicco Thanks Kevin!
Hi, Andrew. Great review, as always. :)
I am civil engineer and I work a lot with CAD programs and I would like to know is this laptop good for this type of job.Would you buy this model right now or you would wait for 2018 edition? Can you compare it to Xiaomi Mi Notebook pro?
Thanks in advance, Dragan :)
I would wait for the new 208 model with the new Intel/AMD partnership and see how that pans out. If I get a enough demand I will compare the Mi Notebook Pro to the HP Spectre x360.
How is the heat factor seemed hot in best buy
Review the Lenovo 720 with the 1050 please
I am looking to get this for video editing is mx150 good enough to run premier pro with 1tb/16gig configuration on this machine?
Yes, will work fine.
There is one big question that I have with this laptop, and all laptops in general right now. It's charged by usb c and it does have PD (power delivery). But can this laptop be charged by a ucb c power bank with PD?
Justin Melidosian Yup, only when your laptop is turned off or sleep
Andrew, Very useful and informative review!
Good to know best buy doesn't have pen but how much is the pen can I use a different one?
+Allen A surface pen will work.
Great job
Very welcome , helpful video
Thumps up !!!!
How does it handle 4k video editing???
"I'm pretty sure the ram is soldered on" *shows picture of regular ram slots*
Yeah I was wondering about this, it looks like there's a shield over it but otherwise accessible. I'm thinking of buying the 8gb and upgrading to 32gb but I don't want to get stuck with 8gb
Great review! Thank you!
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Hi. Best Buy sells only in the USA (sadly)
What’s ur opinion if comparing between this laptop and Samsung 9
????
Samsung 9 is good. I prefer the build of the HP Spectre x360 better. I like the looks of it better as well.
Really want a laptop like that but don't have the money for it... :(
what is the issue , u have mentioned ??
Coil whine
Bro. Running 6 hours at 85% screen brightness with this unit. Is this expected and acceptable?
I got 10-12 hours at 1080p res with 5% brightness, and average use so...
ASMR JUNKIE 5% seriously?
Lol, yea the screen is too bright for me. Currently, i have it at 0%. I still get work done.
"Stole" the 16Gb 512 SSD model at BB sold for $1199... Ill buy my own pen! :) Looking to pair this unit with a Thunderbolt ported audio interface, and report results back to Focusrite (they were having issues with Thunderbolt 3 drivers...
What's a 'coil wind'?
Hey Mate, can I upgrade to 960 pro SSD?
is it good for digital ar ..plz??? can u plz put this info ....? can u let an artist try it
when are you reviewing the lenovo yoga 15 inch with gtx 1050
SLS Tech I have it, it's awesome. Only negatives are: meh speakers and port selection could be better (no HDMI not SD card reader), also can't charge through USB c, but that's understandable as it needs 140W charger.
hey good video, im gonna buy a laptop for architecture, and i'd like a portable, powerful and elegant one. im between the yoga 720 15 and the spectre x360 15t, the full version in both, what would you choose?
