- Euro NCAP Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the Full Width test, 100% of the width of the car impacts a rigid barrier at 50 Km/h. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 32 km/h into a rigid pole.

The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and
femurs of both the driver and passenger. Jeep showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. Protection of the front passenger was good for all critical body areas. In the full-width rigid-barrier test, protection of the driver was good. Chest protection for the rear passenger was rated as marginal, based on dummy readings of chest compression, but that of other parts of the body was good or adequate. In the side barrier test, protection of all critical body areas was good and full points were scored. However, in the more severe side pole impact, protection of the chest was rated as poor, based on high rib compressions, although these remained lower than the values at which the risk of fatal injuries becomes unacceptably high. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric assessment of the rear seats also indicated good whiplash protection for occupants sat there. The Compass has a standard-fit autonomous emergency braking system. Tests of its performance at the low speeds at which whiplash injuries are often caused showed good performance with collisions avoided or mitigated at all test speeds.

In the frontal offset test, protection of both child dummies was rated as good or adequate with the exception of the chest of the 6 year dummy, for which dummy readings of deceleration indicated a weak level of protection. In the side barrier test, protection of both dummies was rated as good. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. All of the restraint types for which the Compass is designed could be properly installed and accommodated.

protection to pedestrians' legs and the pelvis was well protected by front end of the car. The autonomous emergency braking system does not have pedestrian-detecting functionality.

I had a accident in my 2017 Jeep Compass caused by a 2017 Grand Cherokee and my Compass left with cuts and bruises. meanwhile The Grand Cherokee ended up on life support and needing lots of reconstructive surgeries. My Compass did not cause the collision but at the end she was the only one standing. Praising God for my Jeep and no serious injuries for all parties involved.

Thank you for posting this. We have one and I love it. No one wants to think about worst case scenario. But atleast with this vehicle I feel like my kids have the best chance of staying safe. Installing their car seats was super easy too!! All the anchor points are easily available and work awesome.

Yep. Seems right! I sideswiped a semi truck going about 70-80 mph on the highway avoiding a tire. He kept going. Did about $5000+ worth of damage. She'll be back with me soon.

Testing at 50kmph is just for getting good rating certificate, not for practical usage..
Vishwas Sampath yes but before collision you apply breakes which decreases car speed to 60-70 in many cases, and riding at high speed is illegal.

@@gonzalito7289 Can't say about others but in India there are too many cases with Toyotas where druver and passenger airbag didn't open.......though no such problem has been detected with side and curtain airbags as such. Hence you aren't that safe if airbag doesn't open, which is happening here in 1/3 crashes.

This new Compass has incredible safety scores and impressive off-road capability in Trailhawk trim. If only it had a better engine.
I have driven this in TrailHawk version... To be Honest the engine is not bad at all, as long as you realize it is not a sports car :) For an outdoors man like me , I am more considered about getting to my Fishing Hole or Camping spot then Speed, I have Snowmobiles for that .. :)

@@M.K-SAVE , yes I have in fact our Highway speeds here are 75! Our home is a bit remote and I have to use it to go anywhere I-10, and I had no issues at all getting it up to speed entering the Highway at all, my wife has driven it now a few times , and now she is addicted to it ... so I have to hide the keys..LOL
@@charliepalmer2465 I'm sure the new compass is fun. I wanted to buy one. But the speed kills. I dont know how you manage to enter the highway. Where i live, the highway speed is at 120km/h
@@M.K-SAVE , what year did you test drive ? First year or two that had some challenges with the 9 speed Trans, but in the 2018 I have that issue does not exist. Also, Something else to consider , if you are really concerned about acceleration , you do have the option to slip it into Triptronic mode(think that is what they call it ) where you decide when to shift it , which would allow you better acceleration. I have used that back on the Forestry Roads just for fun... :)
